I don't have any mom and pop stores in my area(Northern VA). I do work 3:30 to midnight, think I can get Walmart to sell me a copy?

I'm not sure who's serious, but we really don't put Spanish all over everything in CA. It's widely spoken, but it's still not treated like French in Canada.

Why? People will just unplug their consoles.

I'm talking the game isn't playable without the patch. Much like The Witcher 3 had on PC originally. This would only be applicable to the first run of the game and be obvious to the end user that it would not run if it was not connected to the internet at least once.

Not sure if you guys are serious about the reason for the Spanish. Is this the special socal Hispanic edition?

Well, it is a huge language in the US.

Super anecdotal, but my cousins on the Mexican side of my family introduced me to FF and most of the Hispanic people I know who play video games are looking forward to XV.

People would be justifiably furious at the mention of a lockout like that.

So you need an Internet connection to play an offline game? Great

But but but all those people who don't connect to the internet with their consoles...

No, you would need a patch on launch day to play only the first print of the game. It would be negligible in size and ideally could be applied from a USB drive or whatever.

Drive to the local library and download the 10mb patch onto a USB drive. And this would only apply to launch day copies of the game.

To anyone thinking I'm trolling, I'm not. The Witcher 3 launch PC version had this.

All joking aside, PC is a very, VERY different platform to consoles, even with current gen homogeneity.

Even while retail is kinda big in certain regions in the world, the main method of distribution *is* digital. Preloads have been a thing on Steam since forever. The userbase is used to this.

A disc that you can't just put in and play on console *will* be ripped to shreds by the general public.

The US copies do not have SP text. They have just English. I've seen pics of US copies on Instagram. The ones with SP text and EN are from Peru street date break.

There are games like Destiny that require a constant internet connection though that have had no issue selling 20+ million copies.

Hahaha we actually have someone in here arguing in favor of DRM lock-out just to stop people from playing a game early. That's cute.

To be fair, Destiny is a multiplayer only game.

True but playing by yourself requires an internet connection as well as the characters are stored on their servers. I just want games to release at launch with no spoilers from broken street dates, Destiny (while a shit story) didn't have that problem and I'd like all games not to.

I can't stand spoilers. I'd literally prefer an inferior product over other people having the game before launch.

Yes I'm selfish.

Too tempted to buy a Japanese copy ugh. Went to check and see my place still had copies and they were sold out for now but getting more on the shelf Friday or Saturday... I know I should just finish Pokemon and wait it out, but its only Tuesday and feels like thers 9 days in this week already lol.

Huh... I just encountered the best, longest, most emotional cutscene in the entire game yet...

.. and it was an optional cutscene that appeared to me when I decided randomly to sleep at a hotel. Very easy to miss. WTF square.

I mean, no shit, I'd personally have zero problem with it either, be it PC or console, but you just need to take a look at the pre-launch XB1 feedback and 180' (yes yes, that also had to do with reselling, etc) to realize why it's a huge risk with huge implications for goodwill and sales numbers to even consider doing that on console.

I'm saying multiplayer-centric games like Destiny are completely besides the point.

We're at least a couple of generations out before a move like that is remotely feasible as far as logistics go.

I know you're probably in an awkward stage where going into the spoiler thread would spoil you from further on in the game, but pls, gameplay/performance only for now :|

The xbox one original marketing strategy totally isn't still hurting the console. Not at all.
I remember hearing "but I don't want to always be online!" from a casual friend this last summer. It's why he has a ps4.

...DRM on consoles=dead on arrival

You sure it was optional? Maybe it occurs no matter where you sleep.

Yea I realize the industry itself doesn't have the best track record with this kind of thing, especially as far as DRM goes. If anything I think delaying the shipments of games to regions that have shown they don't give a shit for launch dates to closer to launch would probably help a fair bit of it at least.

Then leave the Internet.

Sorry, I plan on staying.

I didn't post any story detalis though, nor did I say what the cutscene was. All what I said was that there're missable cutscenes, some of which are better than the main ones. Can't see what the spoiler is.

But OK, sorry. Never again.

You sure it was optional? Maybe it occurs no matter where you sleep.

I'm 90% sure. It seems to be tied to that place.

As I mentioned earlier, it's a slippery slope. There wasn't anything inherently wrong with what you posted.

edit: Actually I think that was a little too strict. We'll deal with crossed lines if they happen haha.

Exactly. We've been receiving (regrettably, as I don't like Spanish in the boxes) Spanish versions of the physical PS games for a while now. I don't think US copies come with Spanish text.

Kinda close to just canceling my Deluxe pre-order and going with the regular version. I love the logo, and I fucking hate the Deluxe edition box art. Plus I already have Kingsglaive on my PS4... idk

Also, why is the regular edition $50 on Amazon?

Gonna need you to spoiler tag what happened. Don't leave us hanging!

Oh, I see Falk is against this.
