season 1 is a really awful Pierrot adaptation of a good manga, it's "okay" because good manga + awful studio = okay show.

season 2 is essentially anime original, and it's horrible.

I've heard the 2nd season is flat-out terrible due to the fact it's all anime original content.

First season is alright, but isn't as good as the manga since they try to "shonen-ify" some aspects.

Thankfully, both seasons are only 12 episodes, so it'll end this year at least.

Edit: Oh....it's the same studio who does Naruto/Shippuden? THAT EXPLAINS IT.

...kind of a funny implication since well, they didn't default to Mob Psycho because they wanted to give it a proper premier obviously, but they didn't default to Lupin III, despite that being more requested. Kind of says a lot about what they think about Tokyo Ghoul compared to the other two.
