I'm kinda hoping RDR2 gets delayed lol... this could hold me over for some time :)

As far as I'm concerned, the moment RDR2 was announced for 2017, every single person who has ever played a video game heard it as, "RDR2 will be released in summer 2018."

Only if they get rid of the incremental Light Level upgrade system. I hated grinding just to get blues with 1 or 2 higher Light Level in each slot.

Time sink...

If people jump to higher levels quicker, it creates gap for balancing purposes
They did learn from Vanilla and Forever 29

Incremental jumps most likely will stay, but balance of difficulty of modes and objectives might be more fleshed out
The difference between a 390 and 400 LL guardian is negligible
Same goes for weapons
It's a problem when people try to brute force content without taking things into consideration on why it may not work until they reach certain thresholds

Please just get rid of the light system.

Replace it with?

There will be numbers attached some way somehow to your toon

Before we got to level 20 and then 10 light levels
Then mini expansions gave us bumps of 32 & 34

Then TTK just brought in a huge overhaul by pushing your light level to 335 but adjusting character level
Then with WotM we are at 400 Light Level

Those numbers were entry points to certain content thresholds
How would you make the community at large vary in content gating and have gear ratings have no numbers
They have to be there

Personally wish it was the other way around. Regardless of the date they set, I have no doubts that Rockstar will release a feature and content-complete game come launch. Don't have that same confidence with Bungie - this seems like a really quick turnaround after Destiny 1, and I am fearful it will need another year in the oven.

Regardless, interest is piqued, and 2017 is shaping up to be incredible. BotW, Persona 5, Nioh and Horizon already; Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, Crackdown 3, Battlefront 2, Mordor, and Destiny 2.

Legend of Zelda 2
Halo 2
Gears of War 2
Double Dragon 2
Witcher 2
Super Mario Bros 2
Uncharted 2

But Destiny 2 is wack?
C'mon man, been playing games for 35 years and I'll never get this complaint.

I don't know about a quick turnaround. Destiny came out Sept 9, 2014. That's a full three years between games.

How are people here going to feel if the key pillars of Destiny's gameplay are intact? By that I mean:

Super with a charging bar
Melee with a cooldown
Grenade with a cooldown
Primary, Secondary, Heavy and the same armor options.
No extra abilities and no extra Ghost ineractions.
Classes are largely the same in options and abilities. Though they may be different, they don't change veer much different than how TTK added new subclasses.

I just feel like this isn't going to cut it for Destiny 2.
This would be perfectly fine with me. Why change the pillars too much? Destiny's gameplay mechanics are incredibly fun as-is. Obviously I'd like to see those evolve somewhat and have new abilities mixed in, but the cooldowns and super charging and all that... It doesn't need to be changed imho.

It's literally releasing a day prior to the third anniversary of the original game.

How is that a quick turnaround?

It's literally the same amount of time between Halo 1 and 2 , and 2 and 3, and 3 and Reach, as Destiny 1 to 2..

Well you'd hope that the 4 expansions they did in hose 3 years are up some of that time.

Pre production started with a smaller team right as Destiny 1 shipped 3 years ago. Luke Smith and the rest of the full team of main Bungie moved to Destiny 2 as soon as TTK wrapped so 2 years. Rise of Iron was developed by the Live Team which is totally separate from the mainline dev team. Also Destiny 2 has over 1000 people currently developing it.

I assume you mean I would hope that they didn't eat up some of that time?

However, every update since The Taken King launched, including Rise of Iron, was handled by a small event team while the vast majority of the (huge) development team since TTK has been working on Destiny 2.

The thing that drove me nuts with the light level was that my armor light level could reduce my damage output.

If I get a balls to the wall weapon, why would my weapon damage against enemies drop when I equip armor that looks good but it's level 1? Shouldn't I be a glass cannon? Not in Destiny, your damage drops SIGNIFICANTLY.

This must be fixed.

The offensive and defensive systems should be split.

Also, screw cosmetic items having stats!

Why should wearing a particular pair of boots make you stronger or smarter or faster? It's an RPG, man. Equipment boosts your stats.

DPS is always going to be related to the sum total of your gear's stats. You're looking at it from a glass half-empty perspective anyway. If you have a low-level piece of gear that looks better than your currently equipped armor, then infuse it up to a high level.

Bungie could sell me two copies of the biggest edition of Destiny 2 if they would let data transfer between PS4 and PC as long as you buy both versions. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Will never happen though :-(

I am so hyped right now, I need this!
Stopped playing after house of wolves, but I still love this game to this day

I wonder what will drip out tomorrow. Let me wear full exotic sets in D2 please.

I've thought about that before. Like, why not have an entire Raid set be exotic?

But then I realized that everyone would then be using it as a symbol of what they've earned and legendary gear would get less use.

In terms of loot, I would rather have more equippable slots. Go full on WoW and have 15 or how many item slots you have in that game.

I don't see the reason for that. No reason to overcomplicate things. What other kind of slots should they have?

I always wished that the Grimoire score and items you've collected in your kiosk could be shared between accounts at least.

Sure, XB1 and PS4 don't have crossplay. But if you play on both, you'd be sharing the same Grimoire score, stats and items in kiosks. But yes, you would need to run the story and hit level 40 again.

Cayde-6 was a much more featured and fleshed out character in The Taken King.

Even in vanilla Destiny, there were fun little flashes of his character, a grizzled combat veteran who is now stuck working some boring desk job as a bureaucrat and strategist. Every time he'd give you a mission briefing he'd have some aside about how he wishes he could be out there with you, and how much he misses doing field ops. Sometimes he would hand you a quest and then quietly say "Take me with you" as you walked away from his character model.

While he's certainly improved in The Taken King and onward, I almost miss these funny little asides that were mostly just easter eggs for people that knew the lore.

I heard this for the first time a few months ago and legitimately laughed out loud.

Ah yes, another drive-by post from someone who likely knows nothing about Destiny past the rough launch.
I never get this. If you left Destiny because of its terrible first year, you can't talk because you didn't stick around long enough. If you stuck around and kept playing Destiny or kept returning it to it at the release of new content, then you can't complain because the hours played says you got your money's worth.

Some people really don't like Destiny and that is fine. You don't have to assume they barely played it.

Please god no!

15!

My fucking god Raiding will take an eternity to get all the loot then right perk then right stats then min/max
Why do you want to forsaken us!

We alreay have to deal with 4 left side and 6 right side
Why add 5 more items to collect!

Primary, Special, Heavy, & Ghost on left
Head, Arms, Body, Feet, Class item and Artifact on Right

That's fucking good enough!

Before ghost and class item didn't even count!
They were thrown into the mix with artifacts to prolong the chase
