It's good and smart to go to DF to reveal specs. It shows how confident MS are in their specs, and DF will break down everything, while comparing to other systems/specs for the less tech savvy. It'd be awesome if every console maker did something similar (like they used to during their reveal conferences).
In the end I don't think the Scorpio specs matter much. If you weren't getting an Xbox before, this wont change anything. But it's going to be great for those gamers that are already invested into the Xbox ecosystem, like the gamers (like me) that got a Pro. I think the specs for the next box from both Sony and MS are where it'll really matter. A new gen rather than mid-gen refresh, where these consoles will have their own software and devs can utilize them fully without a previous gen holding them back.
But it's certainly nice to have as powerful console as possible each time something is released, whether mid-gen of new.

For someone that doesn't want to PC game for various reasons this is very exciting news. I have a pro and honestly I don't see that much of a difference from my regular PS4. If the Scorpio is capable of wowing me, then I'm going to get this day 1 with out a doubt. (Edit: it should easily wow me compared to the regular Xbox considering that is weaker than a OG PS4) I'll sell my pro, keep my og PS4 and get this.
I'm hoping the more time in the oven is going to allow Microsoft to really deliver something special. We will see Thursday.

This thread has been an emotional roller-coaster.
They had a splinter cell like game in development before they threw it in the dumpster to make Gears of War forever.
If the actually bring back splinter cell that would be beyond hilarious.
-DF have now had their integrity ruined because they agreed to do a technical analysis of a console
-if DF says anything bad, they can be sued for harming the product
-If DF says anything good, it's tainted by the unholy M$ monies
-Sony fans can use this opportunity to gather mistrust bullets and fire them into the chaotic frenzy of scandal and lies

Most console reveals are put together by company marketing departments...look at the shithouse job sony did trying to explain the pspro to consumers and to this day they have not really improved it as the pro has really improved with some firmware updates to an extremely worthwhile upgrade with beast mode...they have not really taken that opportunity.
By engaging df you not only have direct access to their target market but they tend to call a spade a spade and call out any of the usual marketing bs and explain it in a way the average joe will understand

On a more serious note, a new Splinter Cell is the best shot we have of something surpassing MGSV on the stealth/action front, so a new one + seeing it run on the Scorpio would be huge.

Say what you like about DF, the fact Microsoft are revealing detailed technical specifications through a team of people who have historically scrutinized everything shows a lot of confidence.
