The Switch (1080p / 2.07M pixels) version pushes a little over twice the amount of pixels per frame compared to the WiiU (720p / 0.92M pixels).
I was weak and just bought two grey joycons from CEX for £30 each. Mainly because I still haven't received my joycons back from Nintendo UK after sending off for repair
While technically that gives me 5 controllers (have a pro too), which is too many for most games, it also gives me three full controllers just in case future games need that
Now I need a charging solution as I'll usually have the neo joycons attached to the switch. Maybe the hori dock or a charging grip?

Unlocking kart parts I guess. And trying to 3-star each cup. And unlocking Gold Mario if you care about Gold Mario.

So if you want shells coming at you literally non-stop, play the Grand Prix in any cup on 150cc. Blue shells will always get you right before the finish line now too. I almost want to go back to playing the Wii U version. Almost.
You now need to have a shell or banana on your back at all times to even have a hope of getting first place, and that won't protect you from the constant lightning bolts and blue shells. The item balance is so fucked in Deluxe IMO.

You have to beat every cup in Mirror Mode in first with at least one star to unlock the golden kart.
You also need to come in first in every 200cc race to unlock Gold Mario.
You need to get at least one star on every cup in 150cc and mirror mode to unlock the gold standard kart and you need to get gold on every cup in 200cc to unlock Gold Mario.

Only participated in three races so far and the winner was 30+ seconds ahead of 2nd place in all three. Is there some advanced snaking technique that needs to be learned or was I racing with 10 other noobs and a pro?

The latter. This is a lot of peopes first mario kart/kart in a long time. People jumping in from MK8 Wii U will know their lines/etc.
I beat to Cups in 150cc at lunch break and only got hit by 2 blue shells in 8 courses.
I have a chinese restaurant near my office and they have long tableclothes. In tabletop mode, my hands under the table, noone knows I'm playing
Just wanted to share this little pleasure of mine ^o^In the old days it was seeing if you can reach the kill screen. There's not much of a point to modern marathon Tetris. It's honestly kinda dull.
Welp, cancelling and just buying it digital. They gave me the runaround on my Switch order, I'm not rewarding them for doing it again.

I think this will be kind of common early on, since everyone started together again, even people who are really good at the game and have spended hundreds of hours playing the Wii U version. Once they keep going up in the rankings in a few days the races will be fairer.
What's the star vote after online matches? Watch highlights?
Can't help you, but oh I so hope there's no "best" one, lol. Hate driving fugly karts for the stats. At least they did a good job of making most things look they're based on karts in this one.

Yoshi/Circuit Special/Standard was always my combo. IIRC the gliders are just cosmetic.
The Star means you are saving the replay to your favorites.
There's also the golden tires that you get by beating all of the staff ghosts in time trial mode. I am unsure if the new 200cc ghosts are required for this or not.
Gliders were just cosmetic in vanilla 8. They affect your stats in Deluxe.
Probably because you're a gamer and will figure it out. Non gamers won't and will enjoy the game more with this default setup.

Heh I guess I'm not as hardcore / a little more simple minded, I just played because it was a fun thing to do. Still is, I still boot the GB VC copy up for an occasional blast. Holds up!

Still only six which is frankly ridiculous.
I'd even be happy width a function that lets you overwrite previous replays from the "after race menu" but that still isn't a thing afaik.

I stopped on my way to work to pick this up at a different Gamestop than my usual, was happy to find that they were open earlier than 10. Awful experience. No I don't want to buy a strategy guide, no I don't want wheel grips, no I don't want to get a pro-card and no my credit card doesn't have a pin number.
It wouldn't have been so bad if I wasn't asked three times about the pro-card and twice about the damn strategy guide...
