Finally managed to finish the season!

I thought it was a huge improvement over the first. They (mostly) fixed what didn't work last season and doubled down on what did, to great effect.

Sun's story was easily my favorite, but the rest of the characters had pretty strong stories as well.

All finished. It definitely got better as it went along, although I think I still prefer the first season as a whole.

And man, that finale went from riveting to massively disappointing in the course of about fifteen minutes. It is MANDATORY that they fill in the gaps next season (assuming we get it), especially showing these people meeting in person for the first time, which is something I've been awaiting for two years now. You don't just get to throw together a heist with that many variables without the proper setup. It came across as half-baked and jarring. But even if I didn't especially buy the last third of that episode, I take consolation in that awesome car chase.

Wow. I'm speechless. So I'm at home, alone, watching this episode (Season 2, Episode 9: "What Family Actually Means").

Lito is depressed because
his homosexuality has caused him to lose his agent, his acting job, his career
. Lito is depressed as heck.

But then Dani says:
Give me 58 minutes and I'll get you a meeting with <insert big Hollywood producer>.

And she did it. She did it. I wish there was a youtube video for this. But this was so unbelievably awesome that I'm going to get dressed, go over to my brother's house, and watch this scene with him (he watches Sense8 on and off with me, gets the gist of the general story)

Just finished the season myself. Holy fuck, I love this show.
I'm definitely not a fan of how they rushed the ending, but I loved damn near everything else, so I don't really care all that much. I'm totally confused about the role of the other sensate clusters and how they come to find the show's central cluster. I hope that's explained more thoroughly, or maybe I just missed it?

Anyone else here an Octavia Butler fan? I'm constantly wondering what she'd think of the show as I watch it. I've been in love with the idea of psychic families ever since I read Mind of My Mind.

Yeah, I'm not sure what they were trying to get across with that speech. It wasn't a good look for Nomi (although I can understand her being upset after Janet's behavior).

Everything groan worthy about Nomi and the people are around her has to be intentional satire of stereotypical SF hippies. It's too consistent.

Couldn't it just be Lana writing about herself? A little tongue-in-cheek and self-aware, but still emitting "I'm still proud of what I am, deal with it". :p

I guess satire is the wrong word since she's clearly not disagreeing with what they do and say but yea, she has to be aware of how it comes off. Especially compared to the other characters.

I 100% know what you mean and I feel similarly, but as a queer and poly person it's really cool to see ANY representation of queer and poly relationships and families, even if there's a heavy layer of cheese.

Yeah, that speech was a little odd. The basic sentiment behind it was nice though.

I don't think it was really odd at all. It's who Nomi is. After all the shit her mom gave her in S1, it's hard not to see how she's kinda broken and overcompensating for who she is now. Is she hogging the limelight at her sister's wedding? Sure. But I think her sister is happy to let her do it too, because she knows how important it is for family moments like this. I like Sense8 because while it is absolutely cheesy and over the top at times, the positivity of the tone is unlike anything else. Watching someone like Nomi be able to be overbearing but well intended, and not have the person who invited her to do it misunderstand or be judgemental, is really a feel good moment.

The show is so self indulgent in pretty much every way that it works. Everything else is heightened to 11, so of course they're huge hippie dorks in SF.

Yup. Loved that scene. Loved every single scene with Dani/Hernando/Lito. Those three feel like the heart of the show, and when Sense8 eventually ends I wish we could just scoop them out and continue their story.

I really don't get Dani. She just seems to be a moocher and has no real life of her own. At least Hernando has a career.

Amanita didn't seem to serve a purpose for the longest time. She just gave Nomi someone to bounce Exposition off of. But she's very slowly becoming an active participant in the overall plot.

I hoped they would give Sun more to say. They give her character so few lines. Hopefully cocky police detective gives her somebody to play off of in the future.

And I don't get Kamala character. Her characters biggest problem is she married the wrong man and the man she thinks she loves is wrong for her.

Also, more scenes of Capheus running. Lol

She's an actress, although the show doesn't seem particularly interested in showing her life outside of the guys (which I feel is a mistake). I like the character but am not entirely sure what motivates her.

I really love the Lito / Hernando / Dani triangle, it's another really great example of an alternate relationship / family format that's really authentic and warm and sweet. I just really love seeing a diversity of relationships, including committed and loving platonic live-in relationships.

But yeah, what's she doing all day? What are any of them doing all day? lol

Also it's Kala, not Kamala.

Dani is best friends with Hernando and Lito. She loves them and they love her.

She's a moocher? Well she earned her keep by staying up reading scripts for Lito, finding the perfect script for him. And using her voodoo magic to get Lito a meeting with a Hollywood producer.

I get it, she doesn't pay rent and doesn't seem to have any sort of job. But Dani and Lito and Hernando love each other - when you're in a situation like that you're not going to pull the girl aside and say "Dani, can you maybe contribute to our expenses or get the hell out?" What really sealed their friendship is season one when she supported Lito's homosexuality when she first found out about it. From there came her rescue from Joaquin. After that there was no going back. These three were going to be tight forever.

One thing I do really hope though is that eventually Dani finds her own spouse. Because she is clearly not an asexual girl and she deserves to have a good spouse / significant other.

Yup, they're little friend triad is everything I want my friendships to be like. They're so sweet and happy and supportive, I love it.

Don't come for Dani please, she's finding her way. :p

But seriously though, I absolutely adore her friendship with Lito and Hermando. We're all aware that it's clearly atypical, but they make it work. That being said, yes, it would be nice to see more of Dani's life outside of them.

Finished the season the other day. Just like last season, it'd be easy to find stuff to criticize like the rushed finale. But damn it, the show's cast is just great, the moments they have with one another are also great, where the good just clearly outweighs the bad. That being said, much stronger than last season, hopefully we get a S3.

She supported Lito coming out because of what it got her. She got celebrity status without having to actually do anything. They both benefitted. Clearly things have changed but her initial support was out of self interest more than for Lito well being

I don't follow shows while they're current very often... the anxiety of the show possibly not getting renewed is something I'm not used to. Crossing my fingers and telling all my friends.

This show makes me happy in ways that no other show has ever done. I'm just so filled with love of my fellow man that it drives away all the hate and pessimism that has been a daily part of my life for the past year. I would give anything to feel that sense of interconnectedness that is portrayed in this show.

I'm currently trying to trick my friends and family into watching this by playing up the sci-fi and kung fu, but they're so....conservative I'm afraid they'll never give the show the shot it deserves.

Finale Spoilers
It felt a bit rushed, I feel like we could have had another episode setting up the whole super coordinated kidnapping thing. Still, love the show and really hope we don't have to wait so long for Season 3.

I'm going to die a little inside if this doesn't get renewed.

I'm pretty sure the intention is to fill in the gaps from the finale (if they get another season), probably an opening episode that ends on the big reveal from the finale.

Kala is naive to the ways of the world, sheltered and sweet but with a strong sense of justice. She's super introspective and thoughtful about what others think of her.

She's being forced to grow and adapt due to being drawn into the craziness of the sensate connection and to the growing hostility towards her families religious views, into the danger surrounding her husband's investigations AND weeding out corruption in the company (which is clearly going to be tied into Capheus' s story due to the HIV drugs and likely to the BPO plot overall). Not to mention that she managed to produce her own blockers and actively engage in a few fights.

And then of course there's the whole "She's in love with Wolfgang" thing on top of that.

So no, there's a hell of a lot going on with Kala. The vast majority of this was only in the second season too.

Kala's grown on me. Really, the only character who has remained somewhat thin is Riley. Pairing her with Will was smart on a plot level but it hasn't said anything new about her as a character.

After the reveal about Riley's baby last season, they really had nothing for her except take care of Will. I hope they can develop her more.

I totally relate. That level of closeness, intimacy, and support is so lacking in so many peoples' lived. It's tragic, and it's straight up wrong. We're supposed to live that way. I really appreciate Sense8 for showing all that is possible in human relationship and connection.

I still find their relationship to be hard to swallow. I just don't see any chemistry between them. I see a lot of dependence and care, but no chemistry.

Yeah, those two together mostly make me shrug. There's no heat and no real reason for them to be together. Kala and Wolfgang make me uncomfortable because she's basically cheating on her husband but I at least feel steaming chemistry between them.

I don't see how she got celebrity status. She's an actress, it's likely she already has some sort of fame. Mind you, the show doesn't do a good job of showing her as an actress though.

I always saw her initial support as being mutually beneficial. She got protection (or at least tried to) from her Joaquin and she was Lito's beard to protect him from rumours. Which she was totally into and excited to do, plus I think she genuinely liked Lito to begin with. The more she, Lito and Hernando got to know each other, the more like family they became. She was even willing to go back to Joaquin in order to protect Lito.

I LOVE Wolfgang and Kala, but I hate the cheating aspect of it.

Finished season 2. Loved it. Why are you guys talking about it not getting renewed, esp with that ending smh?

Only negatives on the show:
- They need to tone down the social issues. My guess is the Watchowski trans sister wants to focus on it since it isn't talked much about it on tv but honestly it gets way too much screen time. Trim that shit out from now on. Nomi is a much better character in s2 because of it for example. A lot of that screen social issues time should be used for
- The bad guys. Feels like we barely know anything about them. We know Whispers a bit more but even he is a huge mystery. And we still haven't seen the full backstory on the girl that Will used to see. I can let it go for s2 but if we move at this snails pace for s3, it's going to turn into a huge negative for me. This will easily be the biggest problem of s3 if they don't address. Like I said, I'm let it slide for now.
- The group stuff looks cheesy. Like the group sex is just cringy and uncomfortable. Or when everyone walks together, it just looks off for me.

Ending was fantastic. Will is becoming a really, really great character. It's clear why he's such a good leader. Love the chemistry between him and Riley. <3 Riley is a Goddess. All the characters are awesome and this is the show's great strength, I just don't like Kala because she's cheating on her husband and I don't like how it's normalized. Just shitty, and he seems like he's a good dude so far into the story.. :\ I hope they don't go the garbage route of making him out to be a shithead in the future so they can try to justify cheating on your husband because "he was all along!!1" Love a lot of the development of all characters.

Cannot wait until season 3. :}

Sense8 has the best sex scenes I've ever seen in TV or film, especially the cluster scenes. The evocativeness of it has worn off somewhat from season 1, but they're still great.

Just finished the new season.
Show has everything from ridiculous over the top action to comedy and touching scenes. Absolutely loved it.
Regarding ending: i guess
Wolfie was actually in another facility to where whispers is.

And yea episode 8 <3 Probably my favorite action scene since bayo 2 chapter IV.

Finally caught up on my Sense 8. I'm glad others feel the same way I do about the overall positive message on this show. I'm downright cynical at times, but there is a Pollyanna theme to this show that truly touches my heart. I seldom feel this sense of joy and hope from a show and one that has a lingering effect.

While Sense 8 is far from the best show on television, it's the only show to evoke a sense of hope and togetherness. And damn it, that means something in today's dilapidated political environment.

I so hope Sense 8 gets a third season. I'm always horrified this show will get cancelled as it seems few watch it, and it's expensive as hell to make.

Finally finished.

Fantastic finale, fantastic season. A big improvement over the first season, which itself was really damn good. Also,
fuck you, Whispers; fuck you, Jonas.

I'm at the half of the season, really liking it so far. It feels like they improved things from the first season.

I'd hoped that Sun would have more lines, even though I do get that she's stoic and all that.

I LOVE Wolfgang and Kala, but I hate the cheating aspect of it.

Technically it all happened in the head.

Not that I put much value in an arranged marriage anyway.

Anyway, I loved the season despite the clunkyness and cheese of certain scenes. It's such a positive, progressive show.

Lots of cool scenes, my favorite of which was probably:
Wolfgang in full John Woo mode.
Damn, that was a good action scene. Also, Wolfgang's female enemy is so damn hot.

Does it really matter whether physical contact has taken place yet? If you're having phone sex with someone you know regularly while you're married and you don't tell your spouse about it, it's still cheating.

Also, it's not exactly an arranged marriage when both parties acknowledge the discomfort before the marriage, talked about it, and agreed as consenting adults. Kala wasn't forced into anything here. She chose to marry him, and he is under the impression that it is in good faith.

I like the relationship because it's complicated and very human. It makes it more troubling for Kala because she knows that she's not the victim here, but she finds it hard to be honest with her own feelings and makes poor choices at times.

Also, I died laughing when Lito was depressed in his onesie walking around sighing.

It's a fine line. She hasn't physically cheated, but mentally she definitely is.
And they would have crossed the line if they had made it to Paris.

It's also not an arranged marriage. They have repeatedly stated that it's a "love match", though Kala does not love him. She felt trapped because she doesn't want to let down her family, everyone was saying how perfect Rajan and she doesn't want to hurt Rajan.

I honestly felt this season was very disjointed. Right til' the very end. That 15-minute segment could've been developed for an episode. Instead it was rushed through.

Sun really shined this season. Easily my fave character. Hope S3 is given greenlight...
