Attack on Titan Season 2 |OT| NO MANGA TALK

That's the thing. Any supposed weakness she does exhibit is purely related to another character. Her whole existence revoles around Eren. Keep him around and Mikasa is practically invincible. Even without her she's still invincible except she now has crazy stares...

Didn't she just get grabbed by a Titan and now can't move because of shattered ribs? Isn't that a weakness?

I thought it was interesting that the Titans in the field attacked the armored Titan.

Previously, we'd only seen them attack shifters when provoked (Erin's first transformation, Ymir) or when commanded somehow (Annie'a suicide gambit). When Erin first woke up in captivity, it seemed like Reiner had instructed 1 or 2 of the aberrant titans to keep a close eye on Eren.

Now they're just flat out trying to kill Reiner in a mob rush. What gives?

The titans can likely tell what other titans are a shifter in titan form, so they naturally seek them out to get to the gooey shifter core inside. In the Ymir fight the titans could have switched targets to the other humans at any point but they were ravenous over Ymir. Dat drive to be sentient again?

As for the Beast Titan? Well seems like somehow he can exert control over mindless titans. At least the one's he's transformed himself(as we haven't seen any other mindless titans interact with him yet besides the ones that he made within the walls).

How many episodes are left again? I've stopped watching after Reiner's and Bert's reveal and at this point i'm just gonna wait and watch the rest in one sit.

Is it really shattered? I didn't catch that bit. She was grabbed by the Titan which I saw. I think I just want to see the other characters shine a bit more and show their skill against not just regular Titans but also Titan Shifters. Mikasa took on the Female Titan and got the better of her, did well against the Armoured Titan, took Ymir Titan's eye out. Is there anything she can't do? Ths is what I mean by when I say she comes across as invincible. Heck Erwin's arm got gnawed by a generic Titan. Does that mean Mikasa > Erwin? I want to see the other characters do something. Enough ranting about it I think from me.

Bruh, this show is amazing. I thought Season 1 was good but this season... I'm speechless on how good this shit is.

I was shook when Erwin got chomped, was not expecting that at all. Complete badass verified when he came back and sliced Bert to free Eren. That might have put him a notch above Levi at this point who has been completely a non-factor so far. Armin also gained some major respect points. Not sure how anyone can continue to dislike his character after this episode. That stare plus recounting Bert's fondness for Annie and then going into that sadistic ass monologue to lower his guard was brilliant. Also known but more confirmed this episode that Reiner and Bert were instructed to take down the wall and didn't really have a choice, presumably by the Beast Titan or maybe someone even higher in rank?

The Scouts charging into the Titan horde was great, too. I mean, not close to the epicness of GoT's Battle of the Bastards but still had that vibe. I would have loved to see a scene like that dragged out and animated better.

Also that horse lol

That scene was amazing. That was some Walking Dead type death with the stealth Titan out of nowhere. At first I thought it was lame but then when that horse turned to the camera I busted out laughing knowing it was meant as a sort of comedy relief scene which is so random and out of nowhere.

Worst character of the show for me, so I really hope we won't be seeing her anymore soon, though I guess she'll still be protected by the same plot armor she's been wearing since Episode 1.

Nah, Levi is the top dog, show made that clear from the start (and he was a prodigy in OVAs), he just injured his ancle. He was destroying everything without breaking a sweat and he decimated Annie.

I actually really like Mikasa as the samurai last Japanese person uber mensch but I totally get some of the complaints about her. The constant fawning over Eren is frustrating and annoying.

Still feel like the best thing the series could have done is just let Eren stay dead back in season one and let her take over. Have her mature more and let her get over her weird psychotic obsession.

As things stand, the only one of the three that feels like they've become more interesting or starting to grow over time is Armin who is a shit fighter but shows promise as a tactician from time to time.

I just remembered that one of my theories for who the traitor titan in S1 was was Erwin. I thought he might have killed the research specimen. Guess there's no question now that he isn't haha.

I kinda love how anime it is for them to stop all action so characters can have slow, intense conversations like nothing's happening in the background.

Lost the plot for Ymir the last two episodes. Narrative wise, it feels super muddy to have Reiner/Bernie and Ymir both have their characters be conflicted about loyalties to soldiers/humans/titans but still be antagonistic towards each other. Like as a viewer, I'm supposed to contain varying levels of sympathy for all these characters despite still not having a clear picture of the circumstances after all this time.

I would have loved if Christa just snapped at that moment and tried cutting Ymir off right there. Mikasa's no bullshit black and white goals cutting in between all of it was the saving grace.

The Mikasa hyping seriously needs to calm down a bit. Yes we know she's cool. But she's doing the same thing for 36 episodes.

There were way more interesting things in this episodes. Bertholt speaking his mind, Erwin showing why he's the leader and Armin being one of the smartest characters on the show.

Or people could just list both?

This episode had some good parts, but overall was very weird, I don't know how to feel about it.
  • Fuck Mikasa. Die already.
  • Connie picking up Christa with one hand while riding a horse. He probably lifts.
  • Animation was really spotty, not just a few times, but for several frames in different instances.
  • I don't think I understand Ymir anymore. What the fuck is her deal?

You don't like how the horses chasing Reiner were animated, bro?

Realistically, given the type of character Mikasa is, had Eren stayed dead she just would've shifted her psychotic devotion over onto Armin instead.

ya cuz Armin totally saved her from the people that murdered her parents in front of her

I think her devotion is less about being indebted to him because of that (though it's still a factor), but more about the fact that she really doesn't want to lose anyone close to her anymore after her family was destroyed twice, and the closest person is Eren. I think she also talked about how much she cared for Armin in the past, as well, so I bet she'd be similarly pissed if he got in trouble.

I get a weird feeling that Levi or Hange are going to laugh their asses off when they find out how Erwin died.

He's not dead, though?

people hating on mikasa do not deserve this show.
She has no personality and has had no character growth at all. Why should I care about her? She's as one dimensional as it gets, it all comes down to one word: Eren.
It's understandable at first, but it gets annoying after the first few episodes from the first season, she's only strong because the plot demands her to be, Eren is like a Super Mario invincibility star for her.

I, for one, both appreciate Mikasa's crazy murder face and wish she had more development.

That episode was awesome. Erwin leading the charge, getting got, and then continuing to lead got me so pumped.

That killed me when they did the role reversal with her peaking through the crack in reiner's arm giving bertholdt the creepy "I'm gonna eat you" titan face.

What about when she got grabbed and injured in this episode? What about when she almost got killed attacking Annie if Levi hadn't intervened? What about when she got knocked out by Annie in the final confrontation? Or when she got knocked out when Bertholdt and Reiner transformed? She's strong, but the story hasn't depicted her as invincible.

The only people Mikasa actually gives a shit about is Eren and Armin, so it's not far out the realm of belivability that should Eren had actually bite it, she'd become overprotective of Armin instead to cope.

Yeah, this. I've always read her being overprotective of Eren as a defense mechanism for the trauma she received from having watched her parents being killed in front of her. She over compensates for being helpless in that situation by being devoted to Eren's safety to an insane degree.

Yeah it;s not really Eren's fault so many people died for him this time. Erwin, Hange and Levi just all recognize that he is their biggest clue and likely greatest weapons.

The worst thing about all these betrayals is the fact that those three traitors are great characters.

It sucks seeing them cry and suffer so much.

Lol that part was more disturbing that hype. I like Annie...
Yeah his slasher smile gave me Rock from Black Lagoon vibes. Two very smart dudes that you not want saying too many words at you when they snap. I also wonder if Hange and Armin team up to make Erwin an arm made out of auto mail.

And it seems like they have no choice in the manner. Either be killed here now or some other unpalatable situation back in their hometown that is somehow worse than being killed by your own friends inside the wall. I wonder what that is...hmmm. I'm thinking that their families are being threatened off being turned into mindless titans.

Isn't there another battle for you to lose so Goku saves the day yet again? Huuuush.

AoT is one of my favorites, dear God it's good. Shit just went from 0 to 10 real quick in this episode, fucking amazing. Erwin just became my second favorite character in the show, even though I have to say he's the best character in the show. I could also tell he will sacrifice any pawn to get the mission, but.. himself as well? Lawd, what a GOAT. Fucking amazing leader. Clearly the most important character after possibly Eren for the army. Him being the "coordinate".. whatever the fuck that is.. I assume Erwin knows about it which is why he says get Eren at all costs. It looks like Eren has another role other than his Titan role. The coordinate has to be human vessel to find end game type of information or person.

Everyone got to shine in this episode, you get something out of everybody. Just amazing. Fucking 10/10. I'm going to miss AoT after next weekend. Please don't take two years and only one.

Also Eren better be able to go Berserk s1ep24 mode in this finale. He's gotta completely fuck up his mother's killer. Imagine if he/she is a titan shifter. #plottwistseverywhere

Triple Edit: I thought we'd get Ape Titan reveal on the finale, but I don't think it's gonna happen now. :\ I have a feeling that twat is going to shift a ton of people into titans and then Levi & Co. are going to fuck shit up vs them in s3. That's my prediction for s3, no idea what happens with the people here right now....

So Ymir is already able to escape with Crista and the scouts but she doesn't want to go back now?

She already drunk the Kool-aid where she believes Crista will be safest outside of the Wall. That, and she already actively betrayed humanity in front of the scouts. It's not like with Eren, where he at least had a case for his loyalty and Levi to vouch to be his handler. If Ymir was to switch sides again, she'd likely find herself being some type of lab rat.
