The Evil Within 2 confirmed; Mikami still directing

Was so disappointed with the first game, only played through the first 4 or so hours and quit.

The overall poor performance and controls were so frustrating.

I did not buy it for this reason on Ps4, the many comments and performance / controls I know would drive me nuts.

Have they picked a better engine ?

Surprise? I thought everyone knew a sequel was happening? At least I did.
Many did, myself included, but absolute confirmation for those who like mystery I can understand might dissapoint those who like surprises or didn't know until this headline.

I will say this; as odd as a compliment this is to make, I'm surprised with how many times the existence of TEW2 leaked how little we know about it outside its existence. Keeps the reveal tonight exciting.

When you finally see the human face of the Administrator, yes I do agree he looks a lot like Gman. I thought it too the moment I saw it. His role isn't quite in the bavkground and as mysterious as Gman's (at least, in the DLC), but his manipulating and sometimes cryptic phrases are, plus his sulken face and suit look similar. His face especially (even of a bit prettier than Gman's).

I hope The Administrator plays a role in TEW2. Personal opinion, but I thought the Admin was a MUCH more interesting villain than Ruvik was (though even Ruvik seemed more menacing in the DLC than the main game to me).

Yeah that's what I meant just looks wise not role wise.

As for me I liked Ruvik better probably because of the over the top laugh and lines the Administrator had, I mean they were so cheesy they were good but still. Also the reused Laura arms kinda bothered me, they shoulda modeled something new for him.

I have no idea how I feel about him being back, at least the STEM version because Kid clearly kills/defeats her fear of him by beating him at the end but then again she gets the same scar or imagines getting it at the end that he had on his palms so idk.

I wonder if they'll still be using that clunky idtech engine or if they're switching to UE4

Female protag or bust.

That would be pretty hype, especially for an action horror. I liked the DLC with Julia, I wouldn't mind a full blown campaign with another female character.

Yeah, leaking that the sequel is happening is fine, but if it leak alongside screenshots and a video would be a letdown, that would ruin the surprise a bit.

Still, will avoid reddit like the plague until i've watched the conferences.

I haven't played the first one beyond the first level and don't have it anymore either.

shoot my one by one, not everyone at the same time

I'm thinking about doing a run before the 2nd installment releases

I wouldn't read too much into that. Bethesda can't exactly seek people experienced with id Tech.

You can get it for PC for peanuts. I'm p sure you said you had an OK PC so it's gonna offer you the best exp.

He directed quite a few gems in the past but I didn't really enjoy his last work The Evil Within. I sure hope he does a better job with the sequel.

I expect either crying tears of joy or frustration, no in-between.

two choices:

A) we improved everything and got rid of the bad things, sorry Zelda, this is everybody's 2017 GOTY

or...

B) we added amazing online multiplayer and microstransactions, it's cross-gen, it's divided in three monotonous areas, the buildings, the swamps and some boring dungeon-like thing, we simplified combat because we want casuals to enjoy it. etcetcetc..*

let's do this, bring it on bethesda

*: also, no bosses! every boss in the game is Laura, but every time harder, you'll fight her 10 times minimum, oh you'll love it

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
Eh nothing is confirmed yet, you can easily fake this. Thread title needs "rumor" in it imo.

Those fucking idiots. Well done ruining the surprise ad people.

I mean...a dude I know at work who barely plays video games knew this was happening.

Anyways, if they can improve the feel of the action a little and maintain consistent quality throughout the game, this could be amazing. TEW was really close to being what I want out of an action-horror game.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Good time to revisit the game on my Pro. Last time I played it was on the PS3 so I'm expecting big gains, lol.

I hope for a better PC version.

The first game can't run smoothly at 60fps, even with a 1060 card and that's an old, cross-gen title.

Day one! The first game was very underrated and it's easily one of the best experiences to be had on PS4/XB1/pc in these last few years.

Not sure how I feel about this. I liked the idea of the original game but hated the execution, and it turned into one of my least favorite games this gen. Was hoping a new director would be what it needed but hopefully he proves me wrong.

Can't anyone who is registered post an ad for anything at Reddit (essentially)? It looks like the EvilWithin2 account that posted this one was created three days ago. Also, I'm not seeing it anymore which could mean it was pulled or that they burned through whatever money they wanted to spend on the ad.

Redownload the first game in anticipation, but it's been 3 years since I've last played and I'm in chapter 5, guess I need to start over because I remember nothing other then the upgrade chair/interlude area. But man, IdTech5 is the worst. Is there no way to get frame time information, supposedly 60 Fps but doesn't feel smooth at all. Maybe I need to use Riva tuner to limit frame rate instead of the game? The narrow FOV is nausea inducing when you sit close to the screen like on the PC, at least there is flawless widescreen patch to fix this issue.

Nice!

I quite liked the first one, even if it was a bit of a shitshow. Main issue was that the engine was tweaked so much it could barely hold it's shit together. I liked the story and the characters though. Didn't play either DLC.

If they switch engine, or use the current idtech, and stop trying to make it RE4, it should be pretty good.
