we Code Geass now

Anyone watching the first 3 episodes of The Ancient Magus Bride on Wednesday at the theaters? Its cool Cruchyroll is supporting it.

I wonder why they did it on Wednesday? I have to skip some things to even go watch it on that day lol. Luckily its one my favorite manga lol.

Yes, I am. Looking forward to Children of Ether as well. As to why it's on Wednesday, booking movie theaters for special events is easier on weekdays than on weekends since demand to see blockbusters is higher on weekends.

Oh I didn't realize they were gonna show some of Children of Ether.

That's nice.

I just learned about this. Going to see if I can drag a friend to it.

Yuri Kuma Arashi 1-3

At this time I must confess that I didn't watch past the first episode as this aired. I don't even remember why. I think it was because i wanted to watch it all after it aired and it just...skipped my mind.

Anyhoo, Kureha is rebelling against society's crushing of individual spirit, which makes ner super tasty-smelling to bears who want to eat her in sexual subtext even less subtle than the deflowering duels in Utena.

Blue Gender ep.4-5
I mean, they didn't try to hide it at all, but seriously, fuck this world. This is brutal, brutal, brutal... There is no cast left. Whenever they introduce a character, they die in a painful brutal death....

Eccentric Family Episode 8

This episode was really fucking good. Finding out how the Father Tanuki got caught and seeing Yajiro completely destroyed inside was quite an emotional ride. Everything about this episode was splendid and finding out what the father gave the brothers was a good sendoff. I didn't think this episode would make me quite emotional.

I am glad I listened to AnimeGaf to watch this anime because its been a great ride so far.

I wonder what I should start watching after I'm done with Code Geass... The only show on my sight so far is TWGOK, but I guess I could also go for a rewatch of Slayers now that I've noticed there are some new (?) seasons up on CR.

Edit: Glad to see corn's finally giving Baccano a try. Good stuff!

Blue Gender is a vicious show. In some ways I find it to be a better version of AoT in how horrific the world is portrayed.

Man that 3rd episode of 18if was really depressing af. Such wild tonal shifts in just 3 episodes has really helped it become memorable so far.

It's just as bad at how apathetic Marlene is about letting an entire settlement get slautered.. At least they try to save humans in AoT (in S1 at least, I haven't watched S2 yet)

wow does Baccano really look that bad?
I'm pretty sure Narag's remark was intended to comment on the poor quality of Cornbread's screenshots.

Just being the community bully because of mh low rez shots...

Well she grew up in that world so she's used to the brutality at that point. That's something never really brought up in AoT in that everybody is desensitized to the violence. They could watch people they know being eaten alive and be fine a day later.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
I warned the world about Ready Player One.

I've salted the earth of that RPO thread and in all likelihood the eventual OT as well. It will go down in flames just like the GITS thread.

Welcome to the Ballroom-3
TJCsqIy.jpg

The comedy is much more shounen in nature than I expected.
This was pretty bad other than the bathroom scene. It's really making me appreciate what Haikyuu and Yuri on Ice did correctly. For example this scene:
Why? The show never establishes the difference between bad dancing and good dancing so how are we supposed to know what it takes to win. I ragged on Yuri on Ice for showing all of Yuri's competitors perform but it does establish what Yuri is weak at and what other ice skaters specialize in. In addition to that, ice skaters seemingly fall or screw-up a lot so there is clear indications of when they would lose points. Welcome to the Ballroom skips past all of that and doesn't introduce any sort of rule set so competitions feel nebulous in general. So when Tatara subs in, I'm wondering how this is allowed that someone who presumably isn't even registered can sub in for a dancer. Presumably it's acceptable but the show never establishes this prior so I had question marks over my head during the scene.
The other thing is about Tatara's skill level. Yuri on Ice and Haikyuu had the audience following non-novices. This allowed both shows to largely skip past the basics and get into the more interesting parts of the sport in a natural fashion. Here Tatara memorizes Kiyoharu's choreography and it feels like a jump. While the main characters in Haikyuu or YoI still have long ways to go, they weren't bumbling around either. Also since they had been in the sport for awhile, their emotions and feelings regarding their sport of choice was clearer. Both Hinata and Yuri are driven by the despair of losing and so that serves as their drive in the story. Tatara is doing all of this because he wants to impress a girl I guess. The show still hasn't clearly defined that core push for his character.

I'm just left with this overall feeling of meh. There's nothing here besides the premise at this point.
