Salt is real.
Yet the team he's on now still has more than the Jazz.
Salt is real.
This is a good trade for the Cavs future but this trade actually made the cavs worse in the present unless they flip the new assets for better players. The goal is to beat the warriors and Isiah Thomas vs the warriors is a recipe for disaster.
Jeez. I don't think the gap between Kyrie and Isiah is THAT large that they should've thrown in the Nets pick -- especially since the all the pressure was on the Cavs here.
Thomas is a free agent after this season, and CLE inherits his Bird rights as part of the trade and could therefore offer IT a max contract next summer.
I don't even think they'll pay him to begin with if Lebron leaves.
For Cleveland they managed to snag a most likely top 5 pick while getting a comparable PG in the process. Honestly I think IT is better but the hip is a big issue.
For Boston they managed to get Kyrie who is on a cheap deal and had zero interest in paying IT.
Getting Crowder was huge for Cleveland. They're a better team now than they were yesterday assuming IT is healthy.
Pretty freaking incredible.
Celts surely gave up a ton, but getting a guy who is 25 and one of the top 10 or so players in the NBA is why you get those assets.
This trade removes most of the uncertainty around the Celts future, which was mostly centered around IT.
The BKN pick here seems steep. IT had one year left on his deal, and played like an MVP last year. Kyrie has two years left on his deal. You are essentially trading the BKN pick for one extra year of elite PG play. Obviously we have no way of knowing which deals were and weren't on the table (especially because Ainge seems to float a lot of shit out there) but hypothetically if you could have gotten PG or Butler for the BKN pick and filler, wouldn't you rather have them + IT next year? Wonder if Ainge panicked just a bit.
You mean the 50+ point playoff game against the wizards Isaiah? I mean, asides from the Cavs series, where he was injured (an injury he played through the previous round), what bad games did he have last posy-season?Who gives a shit about Isaiah lol. That's a regular season nba player. They were about to lose to the fucking Bulls if Rondo didn't go down. Warriors are salivating right now thinking about the possibility of him being on the court of an nba finals. 30 year old about to want a max contract. Irving is one of the best players on the league. Even if that pick gives them a player as good as him, they would have to wait too long.
Boston giving up that Nets pick to still have no chance against Golden State seems like a dumb move.
YEah. This team is better. Crowder can be what shumpert should've been. And if IT is healthy he's just as good as kyrie if not better in the scoring end. Plus they'll have derrick rose off the bench. Cavs are better this year. Still lose to the Warriors thoughShort of IT's hip injury being a complete mess, I don't see how flipping Kyrie for IT and Crowder makes them demonstrably worse in the short term. IT was better than Kyrie last year. Do people realize that?

It isn't even close. IT is better and a better team player, Crybaby Kyrie couldn't even talk to his teammates in the playoffs because he has small dick envy compared to LeBron, he's a cancer the team doesn't need.Short of IT's hip injury being a complete mess, I don't see how flipping Kyrie for IT and Crowder makes them demonstrably worse in the short term. Throw in the 1st rounder, it is a killer deal for the Cavs.

Call me crazy but I think IT is a worse match up against GSW than Kyrie was.
Did you miss the 2016 playoffs? He's a killer in the playoffs.
Yeah, you mean his second time in the playoffs ever? I wonder how he got there because he was a nothing burger when it was on him to carry the team. He is a team killer who hogged the ball because he can't talk to his teammates.Did you miss the 2016 playoffs? He's a killer in the playoffs.
Considering that you had either a grumpy Kyrie who wants to leave vs ?, I think Cleveland did well.Call me crazy but I think IT is a worse match up against GSW than Kyrie was.

The truth. WTF is your pointless driveby post?Dude...
WTF is this post?

Thomas is going to have a hard time covering Steph

18 year old LeBron in year 1 gave the team a 18-game W/L improvement. They made the playoffs by the 3rd year. Kyrie did piss all when it was "his team" - zero improvement and he didn't make the players around him better.Yeah, shame on 19-21 year old Kyrie for not being ready to carry a team after playing 11 games in college and with Byron Scott and Mike Brown has his head coaches.
We'll see how he does with a few extra seasons under his belt.
(Yes, I acknowledge that the Cavs were a mess with LeBron off the floor.)
darkside literally knows nothing about basketball so he's safe to ignore forever
People get that Kyrie is 25 and IT is 29 and the history of sub 6 foot players age 30+ is not great? I'm not saying IT is bad I'm just saying Crowder and 1st were necessary to balance the deal. It's not some kind of robbery. Re: Crowder, from the Celtics perspective they have Hayward, Brown, and Tatum long term so he isn't a necessary piece for them.

Milk Brown seems to be a pretty decent coach, last I saw him he was coaching a championship team and got a ring this summer.
Isiah thomas was a better regular season player but Kyrie was a better playoff player last year and kyrie is a better defender.

This deal seems way worse for Boston than the rumored deal the Bulls were going to make with the Celtics for Butler.
IT was injured in the playoffs so it's not really a fair comparison, and Kyrie is a garbage defender. Like, i'm not sure what metric you'd use to determine that Kyrie is better than IT. He's trash.
