Marvel's Inhumans/Inhumass/Inhumazz: Review Thread.

Is this even worse than The Defenders?

If you thought Defenders was bad then this might kill you. The biggest flaw with Defenders was that it meandered too much. There was still something good at the core of the show.

Thehighlight of this show is that it has a huge dog

Nah. the biggest flaw about The Defenders was that it was utterly lacking in good villains, whose goals were always meandering and vague at best and utterly absent at worst.

The Hand are a ninja death/revival cult. I'm still baffled that the Netflix shows managed to make that boring.

It all came down to the fact that their motivations were never elaborated on. We never found out what they wanted, how they operated or how big it was exactly in scope. All we really knew about them was that they were "bad guys".

At least after The Defenders, I'm hoping The Hand has truly been laid to rest so the Netflix verse can move on to other stuff. If we end up seeing Madam Gao turn up again somewhere, I think I'm going to start breaking out in hives.

why would you shave medusas head in the FIRST FUCKING EPISODE

like it can be a dramatic moment but not when you do it IMMEDIATELY just to save on CG budget jfc

The state that all the characters find themselves in by the end of the second episode is just baffling:

Black Bolt: sitting in prison due to causing major collisions, theft, and assaulting a bunch of police officers.

Medusa: shaved head and kind of just hanging around.

Crystal: chilling in her room listening to her weird clear wireless headphones.

Lockjaw: sleeping. Probably for the next 6 episodes.

Gorgon: hanging out on a beach with some Hawaiian surfer bros kind of just waiting for Triton's corpse to wash up or for Maximus to send some more useless guys down to kill him.

Triton: a corpse until proven otherwise.

Karnak: fell down a cliff because he stepped on a rock that broke away and he fell and hit his head and knocked himself out and is covered in blood. I think it's kind of impossible for him to have done that considering he would have seen the flaw in the rock, but the show makes no effort to explain his powers so maybe not. He's kind of just curled up in a ball crying at the moment for reasons.

Don't forget that medusa stabbed that chick and left her for dead in a truck lol

Marvel's INHUMANS Has Had A (Relatively) Impressive Opening Weekend Worldwide

While being panned by critics and fans alike, it seems Marvel's latest ABC venture has produced some interesting results.

Per Box Office Mojo, in its first weekend the two-hour premiere netted 1.5 million domestically, as well as an additional 1.1 million internationally, with a cumulative total of $2.6 million dollars worldwide. While in comparison to actual, full-blown Marvel films it is certainly a pittance, but relative to other IMAX releases it's no slouch. IMAX's week-long finale for the fourth season of Game of Thrones, which aired in IMAX theaters, netted $1.5 million throughout its entire run.

Well, damn.

It's not impressive:
It did mediocre.

GoT made $1,464,932 but was in 205 theatres. That's a per theatre average of $7,146
Ihumans made $1,500,000 (and it could drop) from 393 theatres for an average of $3,817.

And I think the per theatre average might be a better indicator of success for such a limited release.

This is impressive:
Sherlock: The Abominable Bride cinema sales top £21m worldwide
The Sherlock Christmas special, The Abominable Bride, has rocketed to fifth place at the US box office despite a limited release, with total international cinema sales exceeding $30m (£21m).

BBC Worldwide said the 90-minute Victorian-themed show, which debuted on the PBS TV network in the US, was screened in 750 cinemas nationwide on 5 and 6 January and grossed $2.7m.
...
In South Korea, where the film hit the number two spot, The Abominable Bride has so far grossed more than $7m. In Australia it racked up more than Aus$750,000 over its two-day release on the first weekend of the new year. In Europe, the film was aired in Poland and Russia.

Don't support bad box office reporting!

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
Iron Fist was the first Marvel show or movie I've never even given a chance to. This will be the second.

IF really soured me on the whole Netflix MCU, and outside of The Punisher I feel like I am mostly done there. The lackluster action and long episode length are just too much - The Defenders didn't capitalize on all that potential.

I am skipping this, and I really hope it doesn't bleed into Agents of SHIELD.

I don't remember where I heard this, but I swear I heard something about the finale featuring an Agents of SHIELD crossover.

Inhumans? We'd probably know conclusively by now. Agents of SHIELD cast was chilling and doing Con stuff up until their show started filming. Sounds like bait to get people to watch till the end lol. I guess they could film something on the Agents set?

Sources tell THR that the eight-episode series was produced over three months in Hawaii and underwent a number of reshoots. Among them was an estimated $100,000 to fix the visual effects for the wig worn by Swan's Medusa, who has the ability to move and control her hair the way most people use their hands and fingers. (Feature director Roel Reine, who helmed both Imax episodes, noted that the first trailer for Inhumans may have been released too early as it featured unfinished VFX, including Medusa's hair.) Meanwhile, some insiders say Lockjaw eventually disappears from the story because the production couldn't afford the continued cost to deliver the huge canine.

The reports of this having a 80-100M budget can't possible be correct, right? I know, I know, Scott Buck. But with a budget comparable to the later seasons of GoT I can't imagine they'd have this shoddy of a production. I'm thinking Perlmutter made them slash the budget to CW level stuff.

I don't understand why they don't just fire Perlmutter and promote Feige to be in charge of everything Marvel.

I imagine that even if Feige was interested in the TV side of things that he'd have to take a much less active role in the movies to be able to cover both. I imagine he's already incredibly busy as it is.

I love how Medusa gets shaved and Lockjaw disappears as cost-cutting measures, meanwhile Agents of SHIELD has CW-tier ratings and still goes all out with Ghost Rider transformations and shit.

They even managed to successfully write Ghost Rider out of the show and produce an amazing rest of the season with the Agents of Hydra arc.

The only thing inhuman about this is how bad it is. "ba dum psh"
