WWE has dealt with racism before, but fans are chanting ‘that’s too far'

I get that it's supposed to be "bad guy stuff", but It's a low bar, and honestly, if you can't come up with cooler material to use with Nakamura, then what's the fucking point of having him in the league.

The article put it nicely: There's a big difference between the crowd booing the character and the crowd booing the organization.

The point is so nobody else has him. However Nakamura wasn't Japan's biggest star, he was maybe 3rd in line. Maybe. And he's older. He's not gonna do in Japan what he wanted to do at the highest level.

Still, WWE grabbing him kept interest in NXT, and we'll see what happens but so far, he's been a complete bust on the main roster. Even most of the way in NXT.

Besides Eddie Guerrero (And this is stretching it a lot) has the WWE ever done an storyline were the face is suffering racial prejudices by a racist heel, overcome the odds and save the day?

And about Nakamura, I will never be tired to saying this, but NXT booking is not good. beside some good storylines like the whole DIY sagamost of NXT booking consists on bringing an internet darling, have some good matches (with lots of times overkilling the match ups) and then move onto the next thing, and Nakamura suffered from this. Honestly for me NXT died after they bringed in Samoa Joe. Their peak was Sami Zayn winning the title and then Owens destroying him

The fact that this seems to be the only mention of Cryme Tyme (this is the official spelling) is shocking. I even knew that this was bad when I was a dumbass fifteen year old. For example, here they are selling fake Royal Rumble numbers to various people. One of these people was Eugene, a wrestler whose character was being mentally retarded.

By the way, don't exclusively focus on the WWE's blatant racism exclusively, because you'll miss all of the other places where they may be even more fucked up. For example, all of the wrestlers are Independent Contractors who don't get health insurance. This is almost certainly illegal, but nobody does anything about it, because wrestling.

It doesn't really work when you say it's "just bad guy stuff" when Jinder's whole gimmick is trying to get the audience to hate him because he's Indian.

Read JTG books if you can. Funny and depressing at the same time. Why did I write this damn book is funny as hell. He sounds like someone you'd have the craic with.

When Cryme Tyme was a thing, I actually didn't have a problem with it. Maybe it was because I thought it was cool, maybe it was because I was happy that there were more black wrestlers doing their thing, but I'm sure if I looked back and saw some of their skits, I'd cringe.

But, I did have a problem with the eventual Shad vs JTG strap match, which even had a fucking KFC commercial aired in the middle of it.

The racist part of it is fucked up enough. The other layer of it though, a white guy writing script for one minority to be racist towards another, is somehow even worse for me.

This segment was just boring and I don't know what they are trying to do with this promo

But this is nowhere near as bad with the segment with Val Venis in the Attitude Era.

Ok, listen to this promo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mwhrp4lGkDI

And tell me that it isn't a worked shoot with Vince smirking backstage.

Also, read this, since apparently TNA has decided this video is too much

People at this point resort to the Rock trump card, at which the safest assumption given who Vince is, is assuming he went "a. too much money b. he looks like a tanned dude anyway"

Look at who got the belt over the years: russians so they could put americans over, people from the middle east (or that they can act like they come from there) so they could put americans over, and then nothing for black wrestlers of any region of the planet. What's the closest black people ever got to having a black american WWF Champion. Rock, Morales and am I missing someone else?

Lashley was pushed to the moon and all he ever got was an FU (literally and figuratively) from the top rope.

WHC? "world title for people I don't deem worthy of my personal real world title, the WWE belt". Henry got some later on, Booker got some of that too, but they never got even remotely close to really winning the WWE title. Vince would never let that happen, and you know that to be a fact. As for Asians, it's better to not even go there

Goddamn shame how wasted Killings is. He was so freaking good in his early tna days with the belt.

He's great, but he's not as good a promo as New Jack. That one where he said OJ was doing good work, god damn! That got some hot reactions from the crowd.

A big takeaway is the crowd. I’ve always thaught most wrestling fans would be red neck racists. I know I’m generalizing but these same wrestling fans would shit on Goldust for prentending to be gay.

Not with 60 percent empty seats. Usually, the last floor might be taped off or the upper side in the hard camera side. But only 40 percent in attendance is just a new low record.

I have been to events where the entire camera side(minus 5 rows of ringside seating) was empty and the non camera side wasn't completely sold out. Again not new.

Also percentage is irrelevant. Number of tickets sold period is the more important number well actually the gate is what's most important. I'd rather be 40% full with say a 500k gate then sold out with a 400k gate.

TV tapings are in arenas that vary from 5000-20000 seats. 40% of a 20000 seat arena is still larger attendance then a sell out in some of the smaller venues they use.

If you think they have been regularly selling out arenas for the past 15 years and poor attendance is a new thing, you're mistaken.

That was 1996.

WWE may not have progressed, but a lot of the fans have.

Goldberg v Hogan with 4 days notice in the Georgia Dome for Nitro: 41,412
Highest regular Raw attendance: 33,375, also at the Georgia Dome.

There was a special Saturday Raw-branded show that basically got the Nitro numbers, in the Toronto Skydome.

The funny thing is, R-Truth turned heel in 2011 because he realized shuckin & jivin like Vince and co. wanted to was getting his career nowhere while guys like Cena & Morrison get chance after chance. Then they just made it so he’s crazy and talks to a non-existant child.

But for those couple of months, Heel Troof was god-tier.

Heel R-Truth before Little Jimmy became his invisible friend was great

I never knew WWE fans were so cool! Good on them for not just going with what they were being fed. They saw bullshit and called it.

Speaking of WWE and racism, has it also been mentioned that the McMahon family gave $6 million dollars to the Trump campaign?

Lovin the people calling out Sephzilla in this thread lol

Also:
I find it pretty weird how Jinder's gimmick up till Nakamura was "You guys make fun of me and my people for the way we speak/act/etc. But first, let me use say very over the top stereotypical racist Japanese things"

It's not surprising WWE's writing is still shit. I like Jinder as a wrestler/performer... but the typical gimmick they've given him as the "Evil Foreigner" is typical lazy WWE writing. Throwing in this additional racism makes it even worse.
