Terra Battle 2 |OT| All Hail the Gooch

Sorry I haven't had time to manage the thread. I know I promised to get the Friend List thing into the OP! If anyone has other ideas of what could fit into the OP now that the game is live, feel free to poke me about it. A short Q&A would probably be good, and rerolling tips, basic stuff the game doesn't tell you about, etc?

What should I be doing to beat Leviathan Normal? He does some AoE on like round 2 and it just one shots everyone. I have enough damage (I think), just can't survive.

You need HP and magic defense (or ice defense). Check your heroes.

Also is this the Maelstrom or the Tsunami attack?

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Leviathan farm notes:

1. You should stack magic resist on your dudes. This means leveling up the robes you got from the triplets in Chapter 1, and the berets. Ganah can't wear sissy caster items so he's hopeless.

2. Aim for... level 25-30? In terms of gear. Elements should either be good against Ice or at least not weak to it unless you're overleveled.

3. Look for one of these Frendons:
img_1191szlfa.png

This is a level 90 Djago. She gets access to Negotiator at that level, which drastically increases the chances of a monster dropping their Guardian if it's used on the turn the monster dies. But it's on a 30% trigger rate. Using a power orb increases skill rates to 100%, so you want to use the power orb to finish off Leviathan with Djago in the chain.

Supposedly Leviathan is a really good caster guardian despite being only A, kind of like King Orbling. Haven't had a chance to use him yet but I'm finally able to farm him.

4. In the turns leading up to Leviathan, make sure you focus down the little sea snakes that don't attack but apply some kind of stage wide buff about increasing the tide or whatever.

Maelstrom. although Tsunami sucks too. At least with Tsunami you get some warning but with Maelstrom it was just like "o hai, you're dead"

The first time I went into Leviathan normal Maelstrom oneshot my entire party. After about 70 AP worth of metal zone grinding I got it down to only 20%, and I could pretty much kill him in 3 turns.

I'm sure this is a stupid question but what's AP? Stamina?

Also is Leviathan supposed to drop a Guardian if you kill him? Does he do that on easy or only normal?

So...anyone have a leveled up Djago? Cuz that would help me...immensely... hahaha

and to repost on a new page, Out of curiosity, in normal TB, was it 5 energy per pull? Just trying to figure out if the campaign ending 9/27 is a lower energy campaign for pulls.

Got my first Recode done, leveling him up now in Metal Zone with someones 99 Leviathan that just one shots the whole screen lol. Easy like 75k xp.\

It was 5 for characters, 3 for companions. But in TB1 you could remove units from the pool by getting them to 100% skill boost, it doesn't seem like TB2 is like that anyways since dupe guardians are independent of each other unlike in TB1 where a dupe just added 5% SB.

AP is Stamina, sorry. I have F/GO on the mind.

It's a chance to drop. I heard easy can drop it but I never saw it in 10 fights. Normal's drop rate is better but it's like 1/5 to 1/8, going up to.... 3/5 if you hit Negotiator?

He has a small chance to drop on normal and I would imagine it's the same on easy. Drop chance might be increased as difficulty goes up.

What's the point of a shield? For healers and tank units? I got a SS level shield but it seems mediocre to me...

Got my healer and another S class unit + A class weapons. I was looking for weapons and healer. Well stars were on my side \o/ \o/ \o/

I can bench Samatha if needed.

Rest pulls:

Weapon A Enhancer
B class guardian Kutah'von
Weapon A Kappa
B class guardian Ukai
Weapon A Orichalcum Spear
A class guardian Goku
S class guardian Shen
SS class guardian Haruhikari
B class guardian (forgot name)
A class weapon

We also got Mighty RNA as compensation too (x2)
One Mighty RNA gives 60000 xp to guardian
Congrats on her!

I'm still upset that I can't claim the code for the DMM pre-registration. I pulled Halhikari too and really wanted her, but didn't manage to get her over the course of my re-rolls. Maybe one day...

It's tempting to do a pull, but I'm going to wait for those S+ guarantees that we'll likely get (if the original TB is any indication), not to mention rate-up on certain Guardians/equipment.

Out of curiosity, in normal TB, was it 5 energy per pull? Just trying to figure out if the campaign ending 9/27 is a lower energy campaign for pulls.
It was five, but as previously mentioned, you were able to eliminate charcaters from the pool by max'ing out that SB but you can't do that here (even when max'd, you can still get a dupe). This is in addition to equipment being mixed in, so it seems like they took the F/GO approach and made both types pull-able for 30 in-game currency. I'd be surprised if they increased it beyond that, the date on the banner likely refers to the current one and we'll likely get a new banner when that date passes.

No worries.

Yeah, a tutorial section in the OP would be great, since the game does such a poor job explaining the mechanics of battle (it's easier if you come from TB1 but not everyone does). Aside from that, you could maybe mention the tips/tricks of re-rolling (such as skipping non-mandatory fights by choosing "Give Up" and revive via zero cost Energy), as well as the period in-time you unlock the gacha (seems to be a common question for many).

.

Can you explain further on this? i'm sitting on 30 energy and trying to decide on when the best time to roll is, and experience with TB is probably a better indication on when to roll compared to rolling in the dark

Falk

that puzzling face
As always, I'd roll if you could get immediate benefit, BUT Samatha + Leviathan + King Orb + (whatever) are already powerful options available to everyone with some patience, so it doesn't hurt to save and see what the gacha is like.

(I really don't think TB is any good measure of indicator for mobile game framework elements, FWIW)

In TB1, they would occasionally have banners where each multi-pull guaranteed x2 S-Rank characters (or better). Given the rates as they are, I'll take any increase I can before I pull again. This is in addition to other specific character rate-up's, and more powerful Guardians/equipment will be released over time, so if you have a team that can manage the current content fine, it's probably better to wait.

We also have that Nomura-designed Guardian that will supposedly launch sometime this year, that will be given to all players. We don't yet know what role he/she will play, but I'm personally betting on it being a healer, since those are useful for games such as this (even more so in TB2, given the world map), and they'll probably want to lessen the frustration of the early player-base as much as they can. We won't know for sure until it hits, so I can't say definitively either way. My theory is that this Guardian will be the one to (early TB2 spoilers)
resurrect Sarah and the kids
, since Sakaguchi has stated that this Guardian will play a crucial role in the game's story..

Anybody wanna clue me in as to why my attacks heal the co-op boss?

That's assuming green numbers is healing, that coupled with my abysmal scoring.. and before you ask, I have zero fire skills. I've even tried different builds.

Incredible that something as basic as copying one party to another (so I can e.g. put Leviathan into an alternate party setup that doesn't heal Leviathan) isn't a thing.

I mean yeah that's kind of low on a list of priorities right now, but still, who has time for all this

Updating gear across teams is already a chore.

Hah ya, just ran into this myself as I was setting up Nene for the raid.

Okay, I think the green numbers are just the damage YOU are doing.

If anybody else wants to host a game, you can usually pincer by yourself first round, let me know if it shows just green numbers then.

I'm trying to open it in qoo-app and it says game is in maintenance - does anyone outside of region managed to play this successfully ?

I’m done pulling for now. One account has 4 SS including the starter. Another has 1 Z and 3 SS, but one SS shares the same skills as the Z though (crush and gravity).

Now it is trying to figure out which is better in the long run and kill stick with that one. Who knows when that’ll be.

I started off with a Z and SS starter, with S weapon being my strongest weapon, and it looks more and more like its better to start off with a Z and SS weapon if you want a big boost. The guardians only give skills. Leviathan and my Tsurutsuru have similar skills, so either i should have rolled a different Z, or weapons would've done much more

Man, trying to figure out what's going on in this game really sucks. I don't even know what characters are characters and what characters aren't. At least in the first Terra Battle when I did a summons I played as those characters. Now I'm not quite sure what's going on... I guess I can't summon characters, instead only whatever these "guardians" are? And there's, like, armor and weapons and things with their own stats, and something called a Frendon that I have no idea how to equip or use. They don't explain how or why to summon, which is something I'm pretty sure literally every game does now.

There's also a huge difficulty spike really quickly but that's somehow the least of my concerns.

You know another thing that's really annoying? How hard it is to just see the NAME of units. I've noticed that on the party screen they like using just images. In the guardian selection and upgrade screens, they like using thumbnails. None of which display names properly. Since the game is brand new and no one knows the names of any unit, this is a terrible way to make people feel attached to stuff they have. You have to manually select an item, and tap on "stats" to even see the name. Selecting an item alone will just blow up the character art and STILL not show the name. Wtf?

Green numbers are healing, if you're seeing it raid then it means someone is using a fire mage. Fire spells will heal fire bosses.

It would depend on which account has the best equipment at that point imo.

This is not true at all as far as I can tell, at least for the current co-op fight. Green numbers are your damage in the co-op fight. I use Koh in my co-op team who does some fire damage and have no problems at all. If you host a fight and only have yourself in the pincer, the numbers will be green even if you have no fire damage at all.

Green is you in raids, but healing outside of it.

Is there anything that Silicon Studio got right with this sequel? Is there any sign that they learned ANYTHING from looking at Terra Battle 1? It's so sad.

Well that's terrible design.
Welcome to Terra Battle 2!

I still find it frustrating how you can't click on the skills in the stats panel and see what they do, nor what level they're learned at. Not just that, when you do learn a skill through leveling, they don't you a prompt. So many things such as this just leave me scratching my head. The core gameplay is fun enough, but there's a few baffling decisions UI-wise (such as the lock icon covering the attacking type). Also, I'm not sure if I skipped something or not, but I was farming Leviathan on Normal and got a bit angry after 6+ runs since I wasn't getting the drop (nothing appeared in my reward box). Then I checked my Guardian box afterwards and saw I had three of them. I was like "What!?".

Just tested this and you're right. I always assumed it was someone bringing in a fire mage. Good to know.

It so dumb that he doesn't appear in the reward table at the end, especially when monsters that drop during the chapter will appear on that table...

There’s like a bajillion QOL features that are missing. Not being able to see what a skill does is one of the most egregious oversights I’ve seen in some time.

I think people underestimate the difficulty of working on a sequel. Granted I quit TB1 after a month but I don’t know if it’s necessarily that they didn’t learn anything, but rather if they applied everything they learned it would have taken an inordinate amount of time to get the game out the door.

The fact that some feature exists in TB1 doesn’t really mean it can be implemented in TB2 any faster.

I see a lot of minor polish and QoL issues (skill names, UI, lack of meaningful tutorial, but nothing fundamentally broken.

The most broken thing in the game right now seems to be the adventure map (at least IMO), but i think a few tweaks to the movement controls can go a long way to improving that, and some more interesting layouts and events on the map could add more life to them as well. Off the top of my head, rare spawns with unique loot would be cool

I think you misunderstand. Silicon Studio did not work on the original. The people who programmed and designed the original game are still working on the original game. They are not working on the sequel at all. Hence my point that Silicon Studio can only apply what they observed from the original, and they have no personal experience of the development cycle of the original or direct interaction over 3 years with fans to see how the game evolved.

I don't agree at all that if they applied everything they observed from the original that it would take an inordinate amount of time to get the game out of the door. They have been working on this for a year and a half. Dedicated staff. No crossover with Terra Battle 1. They have about 10x the team resources TB1 had. They're a listed company. They fucked up and imo they deserve their stock tanking and looking like a bunch of chumps.

Yeah some QoL would be nice.

Also would be nice to know from level 1 if weapon has aoe or not.
Going to Recode Elga soon and as its RNA has Doublehand skill (equip one weapon for 100% attack boost [I think?]). Would be very nice to know what weapon level for aoe and what weapon is stat stick.

Why I cant backtrack from Un Coin shop straight to main screen?

Yesterday during maintenance they fixed raid issue where you couldn't do anything if you tried to join raid and it said it is full. Only way was to force close app :p. Glad that it is fixed.

Another baffling design is the inability to see at what level your units learn or upgrade their skills outside of the adventure/combat screens. If you tap and hold your unit icons on the field screen, you can then tap each skill to see at what level the skill unlocks/upgrades. Doing this from the party's submenu information screen doesn't give you this info, why? It sure would be nice to see this info in the recode screens as well to help inform your choice.
