SteamWorld Dig 2 |OT| New Digs

The final cogs for me turned out to be in the middle of the path towards the bottom. One was just past an acid pool you had to swim through, and one I believe was on the underside of some unbreakable blocks in the mosquito area.

Any chance you could be a bit more specific on that first one? That one doesn't sound familiar to me so it's a strong possibility.

Edit: I found it! And yeah, it was that exact one. Thanks!

Would you recommend playing the first game first?

No. You will not gain much by that, since Dig 2 is such a huge leap from the first game in every aspect.

However, the Wii U version of Dig 1 was really well done. It was one of the best examples of how the Wii U Gamepad expanded the playable screen estate by putting map and player stats on the Wii U Gamepad.

Really liked it but wish
it didn't end in a way where you can't continue to collect everything post-game... Well you can, but before the boss which doesn't feel the same
.

So stuck on 97% on temple of the destroyer. Can't work out what I've missed for the life of me.

Have 42 artefacts, 83 cogs
(Bought all I can from the guy in town)
, all blueprints/unlocks.

Tried using the map below and literally checked everything, assume I'm missing a cog (?) but nothing at all the sites listed.

It's probably just a hidden entrance you haven't found.

I loved the first one, played through it on Vita. Though I don't think you'll be like left in the dark going straight to the second one as far as story is concerned. If you love the sequel, maybe check out the first one too. It's a great game.

I beat the game about an hour ago with all the maps 100%ed. Decided to take a crack at the endgame trials and holy shit, I beat 'em. Took like 4 deaths, but here's my successful run:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1_eVHQufuY

Spoilers: I somehow clear the second to last trial (
rockets
) with less than half a heart left, and then somehow manage to do the final trial without taking damage from anything.

My hands are still shaking.

Godlike game. Absolutely fantastic in every respect.

I'm not there yet, so I'll not look at the run, but congrats to the achievement!

Congrats! It took me more than 4 runs but it felt great when I finally beat it :D

Does anyone remember the cave that starts to fill up with lava as soon as you enter? That's the only cave I can see undone and I can't figure out where the secret is.

But even presuming that's an artifact, I'd only have 40/42 :/

Thanks man. Which ones were the worst for you? I feel like if it wasn't for the
rocket
trial, I could do all of the trials WITHOUT the True Savior cog mod.

Don't exit when you get to the end. Hang onto the ceiling with your grappling hook and just wait. Then go back to the beginning.

This was the best secret in the game for me. Such a 'oh wow' moment when I found it.

Same. The Rocket Trial is absolute hell. I only managed to get through all of them because I got lucky, had a good run early on and then did the others without much trouble.

I was disappointed I didn't find that myself, must've run through that cave 5 times before I caved and looked it up online. Facepalmed when I saw the solution.

The Legend of BorkBork: BorkBorkity Borking
How am I still only at 34% of secrets found after 8 hours... I must be missing a whole section or something.

Finished last night at almost exactly 10 hours with 71% of secrets found. Will go back to get the rest at some point! Such a great game.

Does Dig or Heist have any character or story focus or is it all mechanics?

They're very light on story but that doesn't mean the games aren't without character. If you're going in wanting RPG-levels of character development and lore then this ain't the game for you, but if you're fine with a little bit of charm peppered throughout an almost entirely mechanics-focused game, you'll like it.

I've finally finished the game and I loved it. My initial run was 10 and a half hours and 63% secrets. Since then I've completed all caves and found all artifacts but I won't be going for 100% or the ultimate trial. Maybe I'll pick up the search later but now it's enough for me. :)

Not sure how much everybody else has, but I’ve done everything but the final boss and the
extra challenges
. I have all the items at max level and all cogs. I currently have $
471
and am pretty sure I picked the world clean of ore and only died a handful of times - though who knows if I took full advantage of all the perks for maximum cash. If you’re worried about running low then I’d suggest you stop cashing in your ore until you’re at a higher level so your bonus improves, max out the bag first and use all the perks

Edit: just saw credits. Got a gold star in wealth. $
21840
. 11 deaths, though a few were after I stopped needing money.

Definitely the best hidden one. It took me more than five attempts if I remember correctly. I haven't 100% the game yet though, but will go back to attempt that later.

So I beat the game the first time right around 12 hours and 84% completed but I am wondering about the ending

I beat the final boss but I think I got a "bad" ending. Fen saved both myself and Rusty but was left behind. Watching the end game and the credits roll it seems like I did something wrong and this was probably the bad ending. Is there another ending?

Does difficulty effect trophies unlocking? Might play it on easy if it doesn’t.

No it doesn't, but you should be warned that it's not an easy platinum. There is a trophy for a single playthrough that requires doing a speedrun, finding all secrets, having enough gold and not dying. ;)

Is there an XP ceiling? What's the highest level?

Don't believe there is one. I'm currently on XP level 16, and I think it would be possible to grind XP (very) slowly by repeatedly kill the enemies in the caves, even after all the enemies in the main world is gone.

Does this game not have any kind of New Game+ the way Heist did?

There are post-game challenges.

I'm almost done with the game and while I mostly enjoyed it, it felt like I played the same game again. I'm probably not remembering the first one well enough but it felt like this was too much of the same. Still a solid game though.

The minecart puzzles are really clever. Every aspect of this game feels so satisfying.

It was probably the trickiest puzzle in the game. Well that and maybe also
guiding the rocket through the sewers near Oasis. :)

The only "bad" puzzle I could think of was the one in the lava dungeon
how are you supposed to know that the lava levels will eventually drop?
