Sorry if these have been answered:

1. The main reason I want to get the Vita is for PSOne and PS2 games on PSN. Will they be playable at launch/eventually? I know PSP/mini games will be eventually..

2. I originally thought the PS Vita will be download only for games, but they announced the memory cards. Will every single retail game be available on the PSN store? I ALWAYS lose those small DS game carts..

3. On the card thing, what kind will there be? Memory cards and game cards? "Saves" will go on the memory card with all downloadable titles, correct? Or do you need a separate memory card (ala PS1 and PS2) for saves and downloadable data?

To be fair, Takao, your hopes of the Vita overthrowing the 3DS (in Japan) were always pretty short sighted.

Nintendo has like... what... four franchises that are as big (if not bigger) than Monster Hunter? (Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, New Super Mario Bros., Pokemon).

I mean, all Nintendo had to do was pull a New Super Mario Bros. out of their ass and it would have been over, and how long do those games even take Nintendo to make?

I was expecting Nintendo to suffer from a larger contraction than Sony in the handheld market due to losing the casual crowd people to phones. I was expecting the Vita to hold onto the PSP purchase audience better than the 3DS does with the DS. Though, obviously this was all prior to $169, and Monster Hunter. Once $169 was dropped I didn't think it was ever possible for Sony to take Japan.

Takao is the BurntPork of Vita threads. Not nearly as crazy, mind you, but that's the closest comparison I can make.

1. PSOne games are eventually going to have their support on Vita. PS2 games are unlikely to be supported, at least in year 1.
2. All games at retail will be released on PSN. However, not all games will be released at retail.
3. You're basically going to need a memory card. Some games save to the game card, where as others save to the memory card. Some games won't boot without the memory card inserted.

No one even plays Monster Hunter Takao. Its not going to kill off competitors just by not being here currently. Like 3 people still play videogames in Japan, thats why you have Kojima san over in America getting wasted and saying Rising is for us.

$169 was because 3DS was already dead. Iwata sama had to commit financial seppuku just to show Nintendo cared about it! Just relax, they goofed and if Sony goofs they will not just give up. Japanese moms are tough, they'll make things right.

And about Vita... I mean there are not even that many haters, its basically just TVOutGAF using multiple accounts. Lets just celebrate this fantastic launch instead of fretting about sales, can we? I'd rather be on this roller coaster than stuck in Albuquerque doing the hokey pokey like 3DS fans, amirite guys?!

I think Gravity Rush looks great, though I think I may just get Virtua Tennis 4 at launch since it doesn't require a memory card. Who knows though I always end up getting more than I planned.

It's either used as a joke, as a purchase justification for a competing product, by "smartphones rule the world!" people, or its just a "there can only be one!!!11!" mentality some people have. Depends on the person saying it. It's usually a joke though.

Why? Sony's tech is always efficient percentage wise and posters on here talking doom and gloom when they never touched the tech. Sony's tablets are just as f'ing smooth.

I really think the online features of Vita will be the game-changer. PSP got there first, but dropped the ball (i.e. ad-hoc only) on so many crucial games.

Vita will be the first fully-online handheld system, and that is unprecedented. Even smartphone games typically don't have robust online features.

There won't be any big multiplayer games on the Vita so it won't matter.

I'm still interested in that Near thing, and how this will work with the non-3G PSP, that will be the one bought by more people.

The fact that you don't need to be phisically close, like in StreetPass, and simply go close to where some other people has been in another moment of the day can give much more feedback.

I've been visiting Tokyo regularly, even showing up the usual places! I'll be there during the New Years actually.

I think the Vita is more like my gaming backup. My 4-year old 360 broke twice this past year (repaired it once), so I am finally replacing it with the slim Can't wait to get back to all the games I picked up.

Now that I'm thinking... is Near check all the people that has visited the same spot than you during the day, and is syncronized at home (or when you connect to a wifi network)... what will happen if you go with your Vita thought the round line of Tokyo? You'll get thousands of notifications when you connect your Vita to a wifi spot?

They've announced a COD game anyway. Have they released any actual info about it? Screens? Trailers? (There is a fake one on Youtube that some sites link to, but it's the 360 version of MW3 someone cropped into a Vita)

Is it a port or a new title? Does it even have online multiplayer? You'd think , but you never know...apparently they didn't put any in Uncharted

The PSP had a lot of games that were announced but never actually materialized (DMC, The Elder Scrolls, Resident Evil) or were massive disappointments (Gran Turismo) or just half assed cash ins (Assassin's Creed)

Preorder numbers are quite big - Amazon sold out of it's first batch in under 30 minutes and right now it's impossible to preorder a WiFi model (3G preorders are still being taken in Yodobashi and I think Amazon).

You can use your PSN account.
