Those weren't main series games, those were spin offs, Nintendo potentially lost nothing from that.
But the main series has always been used to drive the sales of Nintendo handhelds, so to make the latest one non 3DS exclusive is a massive blunder.

ah, makes a lot of sense. i'm so stupid.

Well, the electric form looks kinda cool, but its too bad they look so much like Reshiram Zekrom.. I was hoping for something original, but still thats pretty cool in its own way. One way or another grey version is definitely coming now, heres hoping they announce it today.

As I said, there was minimal support for it in Platinum (local wireless only). Hopefully they've learned from this and implemented it in Wi-Fi too.

They probably don't allow it online because it would mean allowing dynamic stats, which could allow for hackers to give Pokemon like 999999999 in each stat.

Starrin' in the Pikachu short. Could be a sign they're rushing this generation out a bit faster for full 3DS gen 6.
.

Yeah, that's what I'm figuring.

They seem to be packing these legendary Pokemon into these movies like they're running out of time. After looking at that poster ... isn't the Genosect one the last legendary to be revealed? A gen 6 Pokemon could be in the movie after this one.

I'm gonna laugh if the name isn't even Gray or Grey, but like Brown or something.

Remember all the fan names for the Pokemon G/S remakes and how none of them were what they actually used?

God, I hope they never acknowledge Genesect, it looks so damn goofy. Im not a fan of Meloetta being a legendary either, but at least design wise its alright.

Oh god, if it isnt Grey I wonder what they would call it. =P

Gen V was always expected to be a short one anyway.

Eh, that wouldn't really necessitate a shorter generation. Gray/Grey this year, R/S remakes next year and Gen VI in 2014. Unless they push next generation in Fall 2013, which still would make it 3 years between new mainline installments (like II->III transition).

Edit:

But Pokemon Grey just writes itself. Unlike Crystal out of nowhere.

And this all pretty much fits. Grey this year, next year a Genesect movie with first new Gen VI Pokemons and RuSa remakes/new games. Keikaku and so on.

I still think Pokemon Tin & Brass would have been awesome names, but I guess they're not really marketable

Did they just say -in English- that there will be a new game announcement at the end of the show? Keyhole sound quality is bad.

Really? What makes you think that?
It's a product of the DS lifespan being longer than anyone could ever have anticipated. It also serves as a soft-reboot for the franchise. It felt to me like this wonderful foundation from which they had immediate plans to build on in the next gen.

Okay, this might be a dumb question, but...
Why is the early reveal of Meloetta a sign of a short Gen V?

Hidden legends usually get a whole movie to themselves, and each Pokemon movie comes out once every year. By not letting Meloetta have a movie the way Shaymin and Arceus did, it signals they won't "waste" a year on devoting a movie only to Meloetta.

I look forward to the disappointment after Pokémon Smash ends, then.

If you guys really think the reveal of the poster guarantees a new game announcement today... Oh, well.

Bookmarking this post for later.

Oh, I see.
So basically they've gotten all the hidden legendaries out of the way now except for one (Genesect), meaning we could potentially be looking at a Gen VI as early as next year?

They shouldn't make a Genesect movie either. This gen event Pokemon are all pretty dumb. It was going to be hard to top Arceus but geez. We need a "devil" Pokemon.

Presumably because compared to Gen III and Gen IV's secret 'mons, we're blowing through Gen V's at breakneck speed. Only one left to be officially revealed is Genesect.

edit: nevermind, super beat.

Well it took a good while for all the legendaries of gen IV to be announced/have movies, on top of that the anime was delayed/fillered far more than what gen v's anime has been (from what the people who actually watch the anime have told us.) . Considering the people who make the anime and movies most likely knows whats up in terms of when GF expects to release xyz, this all points towards this gen not necessarily being as long as the the other one.
