Jesus I hope not, I'm getting the 16gig version or whatever the smallest one is.

Fingers crossed for the 32GB model being the entry level. Is it currently feasible to have a 128GB iPad in the market? I think Apple would have the foresight to anticipate something like this.

It is Mr.Crapple again, shitting up a thread as usual.

Meh, I don't think he's shitting, it's true... I have alot of Apple products (iPhone, iPod, iPod, Mac Mini, iMac) and love them all, but if we're being honest, you do have to overpay for almost everything except the iPod.

16 GB really will be pretty small. You only will start off with like 13.5 GB usable space.

If you have Photostream on, that will probably take up another 2 GB.

Infinity Blade already runs at a gig, without assets for double resolution, etc.

If you overpaid for your iPhone and iPad, you're doing it wrong.

Size of apps will increase along with the res bump, right? 2GB+ apps incoming?

The img files shouldn't be that much larger in size. If you have a bar of whatever color with gradient you just do one small image like -- and repeat rather than the whole bar -----------.

Not that I'm a dev, maybe you don't even use images for those kind of things. Just thinking CSS here. :)

Not really. I paid roughly 400$ for my iphone 4 32Gb at launch... and I still think it's a ridiculous overcharging compared to some other smartphones. I buy it because I slightly preffer apple, but that extra $ when compared to other brands isn't justified.

As for the iPad, t'was a gift from my mom to my dad, so I have no idea.

Yeah, I just want Tweetbot, safari, ibooks and whatever IM client is good. And then something to resize phones with and then a photo upload app. Thats pretty much an entire computer to me. Oh and VNC obviously. I already own a screens license.

we all are wrong then.
Still, if you prefer Apple products and are sensitive to the many little and large perfectionistic details that make the products great instead of good, then there simply is no other choice.

iPhone/iPad are priced much more competitively than the Mac line of computers. Shit, other tablet manufacturers are having a hard time undercutting the iPad. And wasn't the launch price of a 32GB iPhone 4 $299 like it has always been? I'd say that's in line with Samsung's recent offerings.

MORE competively, yes. I hope they keep the same pricepoint. Rumors suggest an increase though.

Are there any reliable rumor sources saying that MacBook airs will recieve retina displays this year or are people just pulling that out of their asses?

299? I mean, maybe over there in the US it's 299... over here in Europe it's like 900$ for a 32GB unlocked, 600$+ with contracts... the only reason I got it for 400$ is because I bought through a company AND I had a massive amount of points up for dicount. 299? Hell no, son... It'd sell 10 times as much if that was the case, over here.

There's been found evidence in Lion for icons and stuff with much higher resolution then the current ones. Essentially same thing as with people finding high res iPad icons in previous iOS builds.

You guys are getting gypped. I live in Saudi Arabia where almost everything is marked up and a 32GB iPhone 4S goes for about $750 without a contract. Priced in line with the "Google Galaxy Nexus".

Over here in europe an unlocked no contract 32GB 4S sells for exactly 995$ and with contracts it starts at exactly 496$.

Considering the price for it in the US (which is it's country of origin) with no contract is 750$, I don't see how it's marked up in your country... or how that makes it anything but ridiculously expensive...

Are you including your VAT?

I'm hoping more than anything that a new MacBook Pro gets announced along with it. Been dying to upgrade my 2007 machine but since a new redesign is all but imminent, I've been patient...

For comparison's sake, how much does a Galaxy Nexus cost unlocked without a contract?

You should take out the VAT when comparing it with the US price.

Easier to add the VAT on the US one... since in Europe every country has a different VAT but the phone costs the same everywhere, so I guess the price without VAT is different everywhere, to allow for same final price everywhere. (except for the UK, where it's like 15$ cheaper).

I would say summer when Ivy Bridge is out, but definitely not at an iPad event. Keep the faith bro.

Summer, Apple won't upgrade any of their Mac line till after they get Ivy Bridge which Intel will have ready in June.

So, that means the 750$ price includes VAT already over there...

There is no national VAT or sales tax in the US. It's all local sales taxes, which can vary from 0% in some places, to over 13% in some places that add a state, county and tribal sales tax.

They aren't including US sales taxes in the index because 1) it's difficult--there are hundreds of different tax rates from city to city and 2) they are using the US pre-tax price as a baseline for comparison with prices in other countries.

So long as the Retina thing turns out to be true, I've decided this will be my first tablet. I wasn't crazy about the Mac environment, but I've really taken to iOS. Can't wait to try the iOS port of FFT on this fuckin' thing.

OMG, the wording in the invitation reminded me about something. Something I heard at one industry conference ~1.5 years ago from one of the possible Apple suppliers. Something about haptic feedback. Oh yea, I sure need to touch that, Apple!

A lot of sites have gotten hold of the screen. It is 100% exactly the same as the iPad 2 screen except double the resolution. Maybe iPad 4 or 5 but it isn't on the 3.

:( Yea, haptic would be too much to ask, retina display itself is enough of the upgrade to make Apple marketing happy.

And I'd suspect they would test it on the smaller screens first.

Still, would be nice. :p

The display that people have gotten a hold of doesn't include either the touchscreen sensor or the glass covering.

WHO DEY!?
Seriously why is haptic feedback all of a sudden a big desire now? I swear I never heard anyone mention it before this thread.

I guess that leaves some room for hope though but Apple has been especially leaky lately, there would have been at least 1 rumor of this if it was the case I imagine which never happened.

And it isn't mentioned anywhere else on the internet and apple community except in this thread. Someone random person int this topic posted a youtube video of the tech and suddenly people for no reason started predicting it'd be in the iPad 3. It's odd.

But I mean, what else is there to do till March 7th except make up wild rumors in this thread.

It's stupid and not going to happen.

The rumor? Yes, it's stupid and not going to happen. But is the tech stupid? No way.

The crazy thing it isn't even a rumor. It hasn't been rumored anywhere! It is just discussion at gaf that came from some random youtube video of the tech that got out of control.
