Guys, Justice league is so terribly bad that i think Bendis' Avengers are a better team book.

That's pretty low, dude.

I think they're both equally terrible but have nice artwork

Not IMO. Read them all in order and it's a great book.

It's automatically better than Bendis as the characters speak in more than one voice. ;)

That would be your first clue.

iFanboy seems to think Bendis > X-Men (not WatXM) and Hickman > Avengers.

I'd like that actually. His UXM run was pretty good.

Wonder if he'll introduce 616 Stairs.

I find it funny that avengers purists are still butthurt about Bendis revamping the franchise back in 2004. I give Bendis total credit for turning the franchise around and turning it into what it is today.

Well I guess Mark Millar gets props to for his Ultimates run.

Yeah, but all of Johns characters in JL are like self aware. It's terrible. Then again, its unfair to Johns since Bendis is writing a pretty good Avengers fight story right now.

I only started to get into it with Secret Avengers / Post Civil War. He shook things up and I think the franchise is better off for it. It was getting stale having Cap, Iron Man and Thor save the day with the B team.

I don't have a problem with that. I'd say it's preferable to clueless heroes that all are written the same.

And gah at the idea that Bendis' Avengers are worth anything right now....gah...

My current guesses for Marvel's post-AvX writer shuffle:

Hickman: Avengers, New Avengers
Bendis: Uncanny X-Men, plus a new team book spinning out of AvX
Gillen: Either Avengers Assemble or a new team book spinning out of AvX
???: Fantastic Four (FF will either be cancelled after Hickman leaves or get a different writer, shortly after which it'll get cancelled)

Rhino aside(which looks like he just kinda ran out of ideas), I LOOOOOOVE those covers. Very clever compositions that show off the unique power sets of the bad guys.

I'm so hyped for EotE, you guys, its not even funny. #okitskindafunny

No, its ok. Slott has done an amazing job of building it up. Spidey events don't seem to disappoint. Loved Grim Hunt and Spider Island.

Is Ends of the Earth a special event, or is that just the name of the arc in ASM? If it's just the arc why are they making a big deal out of it?

Marketing mostly, but its a six-issue story arc they've been building to since the beginning of Slott's run, with Doc Ock leading the Sinister Six in a doomsday plot that has the whole world in danger. There's gonna be some guest stars, a new suit, and a lot of globe-trotting adventures. Should be a lot of fun, and Slott promises some big things coming for Spidey's world after the story.

There's only one real tie-in, "Ends of the Earth #1", but Rob Williams is writing it so lolwhatever. The whole story takes place during the six ASM issues, but there is an Avenging Spider-Man issue Slott is writing as an epilogue of sorts in June.

On a related note, where the fuck is Joe Mad on Avenging Spider-Man? His last issue was in January, since then we've got *sigh* Greg Land last month, Lenil Yu this month, crossover with Daredevil/Punisher in April, Immonens doing a She-Hulk/Spidey team-up in May, and Slott in June. Daaaaaamn, this Joe Mad dude is slow. This Spidey/Elektra team-up better be worth it.

Joe Mad might be busy getting Darksiders 2 prepped for release.

How long has Doctor Octopus been a complete robot like that?

Not a robot, but he's living in a big metallic suit now. He's dying, and that suit is the only thing keeping him alive for his last few weeks. He plans to go out with a big bang before his death.

Personally, I think maybe Spidey will try to revive Doc Ock, which is probably the most insulting thing you can to to Otto. Outsmarted, defeated, and owes his life to his most hated enemy.

Or he dies!

Hickman leaving FF makes me sad :/ don't think I'll follow him to Avengers if thats where he's going
and if they ruin Xmen books that will make me sad too

It seems like Amazing Spiderman, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Avengers are all heading to big run ending stories. Is Marvel gearing up for a "New 52" reboot after these events are over?

Great, thank you. I just started reading at Spider Island but I have loved Dan Slott so far. I assume they haven't shown the new suit yet? As long as it doesn't look anything like whatever the hell he was wearing ca. Civil War I think I'll be alright.

If it reduces the number of X-Men books they ship every month from five thousand to a more manageable number than I am so down.

Sad to hear Hickman is leaving Fantastic Four. I will probably be leaving with him. I love the FF as a team, but they have had two good creative teams in like 15 years.

Heh, I wouldn't call it "terribly bad," but I certainly don't think the first Justice League arc was as good as it should have been, especially given the talent behind it. Like I said before in a previous post, it just didn't have much of a payoff. It had some good moments, but overall it was a letdown.

I picked up New Avengers #22 (Deodato's art--hot damn!) and Avengers #23 at the same time I got JL, and I actually enjoyed them more than JL. They were the first issues I've bought since dropping them at #7 and #8, respectively. Now I want to go back and fill in those large gaps. Although jumping back in at this point, I'm getting a sense of deja vu, because it kinda feels like the setup just prior to Siege.

See, Batman on the sidelines watching real heroes in combat.

Just read Special Forces. Holy shit, amazing. Almost Garth Ennis level insanity. If you want to see a hot chick and an autistic guy take on terrorists and packs of mutant / mutilated children this is your book.

Justice League didn't do it for me, this arc should've been more than just 6 issues, maybe even 12.
...and I didn't like Darkseid in this arc, times I feel like Morrison is one of the few who can write this character properly.
"DARKSEID IS."

I think it's odd how many people are surprised at Hickman leaving the F4 titles. I don't know how, but I've understood that this year was his last on them all along, he swaid as much when they did 600, saying he was wrapping up the story and they were doing it in two books at the same time so it wouldn't be dragged out. At the time I think he mentioned something about 12 issues.

I think it's good he's leaving. It's been a great ride and it will be nice to have him finish it and close the book on his run while it's doing well. I can't wait till they collect it in some series of extra sized hardcovers in a couple of years time, will certainly double dip.

I'm usually slow on reading my stuff unless I'm really into it and I try to stay away from Marvel/ Dc's assclown pr shenanigans. I think I've only stayed caught up on Huntress and Justice League Dark since the reboot/schism...
Damn, I gotta start in on this pile soon

'scuse me in advance for the slight derail.

I remembered the praise that Locke & Key had received in here earlier when I was browsing through the comics in my local library and came across the first three books. I was extremely sceptical at first since the artwork didn't really impress me at first and when I pondered for a moment, where the name Joe Hill was familiar from - then I remembered that he wrote the clusterfuck that was called Heart-Shaped Box and scepticism rose even to a higher level. But as the comic-hivemind hasn't failed me yet, I decided to just go with it.

Looking back in retrospect, I think that was one of the best decisions I've made this year.

Sweet mother of god, that series is seriously addictive and gripping! I mean, the first 50 or so pages went with getting to know the vibe of the series but after that, I just devoured the remains of the first book and the two books after it in one sitting. Sogood.gif.

I'm ready for Hickman to end his FF run. It started out so strong but at this point the story is so long and convoluted I'm going to have to read it all together just to make sense of it again. I was sort of hoping for more stories that weren't all intertwined like this.

And I'll wait to base my opinion on this Justice League arc until I re-read it in one go now but I liked the beginning of the arc better. Thinking back, all I really remember are all the heroes meeting. This whole fight with Darkseid didn't need to be included at all. Oh, and I'm so tired of full page and double page spreads. I'm sure many don't agree with me but I just miss art that looks "regular" and the thing is, I don't even know how to explain it. Whatever, I'm going to go read Archies and old Don Rosa duck comics.

I read Justice League #6. It was entertaining but nothing great. Some of the dialogue was so bad it would make Lucas blush.

"The Super Seven" I mean cmon. That super friends comment from the kid bugged me too because it just reminded me that Geoff is still insistent to turn DC into a recreation of his childhood. Expect "gritty dark" Superfriends fan fiction from his JL run which I'm pretty sure nobody wants except for him. Also what the hell was with the art for Desaad and Stepenwolf I don't even know what the hell I was looking at there the art was terrible which is strange because they have an iconic look to them that would be so easy to draw:

Also I'm going to assume that threat Bush mentioned to them at the end was Starro?

Hi ComicsGAF!

I really have an itch for comics (again, but I can tell this one is going to last.) A quick question, is the Red Robin series cancelled? So the only way to read about Tim Drake is the new Teen Titans?

Also does anyone here use the DC online reader thing Comixology? How is it? Worth it?

Yes Red Robin was canceled when the DCU rebooted, and yes the only way to get Tim Drake now is by reading the new Teen Titans series. Just don't expect it to be a continuation or anything; the reboot basically started all of the Titans characters over again.

There are definitely some Comic GAFers reading their stuff digitally through the Comixology app, but I'm not one of them so I can't judge the experience.

I was late on the Batwoman series so if anyone can bring me up to speed as to why Kathy modeled her identity after Batman and why Batman hasn't shown up to tell her to stop I'd appreciate it.

Cool, thanks for the quick answer. I heard Tim was messed with much less than most others in the move to DCnU, although I'm still not 100% on the costume.

Just to get it out of the way I really like Tim but I've missed most of his stuff. :( So what (volumes) would anyone recommend if I wanted to get a quick catch up on him? I'm planning on all the Red Robins (as well as FC, RIP, and BftC.) I also want to check out Robin: Wanted, but that's it for pre-FC I know I want to get.
