I think that's definitely going to happen, yes.
I think that's definitely going to happen, yes.
Really?
I think it's still worth using a number/model naming system if they are actually going to do significant changes to the body and appearance. With the iPad and iPod Touch it seems more natural to go to a more generic naming convention since newer models still look the same as older ones and are mostly just upgrades to the internals.
I suspect the next iPhone will probably have a pretty significant redesign, so they may want to call it an iPhone 6 or an iPhone 4G or whatever.
Surprisingly enough, he was nowhere to be seen! I like the guy too, but whatshisface (the fit guy who presented iPhoto, forget his name) was really awesome I think, seemed very genuinely excited in demoing.
Maybe.... but he usually presents/leads in the 3rd party app devs to come on stage, so...Interestingly, Scott Forstall was not even in the promotional video. Bring back googley eyes!
Maybe it was just that the stuff announced wasn't in his area...
Oh wow, nice!Anyone noticed the new, oh so much better, Apple.com favicon? YEEESSSSS
Best news all day.

Speaking of which, when can we expect that? It feels like just yesterday that 5.0 hit.I would guess he'll be there for iOS 6 at WWDC, as that's his project. If he's not there for that, then maybe something's up.
the hell? When they announced the 4th iPhone: iPhone 4,
I SWORE that they'd never call the 5th iPhone 4GS, under the assumption that the whole use of 'S' was to bring the hardware in line with the actual generation, as well as the iOS version.
Then they brought out:
5th iPhone: iPhone 4GS.
Where the fuck was Ive in the demo video? I miss him .

Should I be worried my order is still processing. I saw on my bank account my "available funds" amount has decreased, but my actual funds amount hasn't changed.

I'm in the process of moving my entire DVD and Blu Ray collection to my PC as a project and that'd be great to have in another room.
What is the best way to do this with iTunes compatibility? We have a large blu-ray collection and it would be great to be able to play it back on the iPad while in the air.
I'm unsure about iTunes, as I just rip to windows then use an App on the iPad that lets me play any format.
AVPlayer HD, it cost a few bucks, can't remember, like 3-5, but it's been a very good app for me. Not sure if there's better but I can't imagine what else I'd want out of a player.
Only complaint is I love its little gestures and I find myself trying to do them when I watch Youtube and the the like to no avail. :lol
It's called the iPad 3rd Generation as per the accessories' pages.
FINALLY got my order in. 32gb white.

The same time as OS X Mountain Lion? That's weird. I thought the new MBP line is supposed to hit around that summer time, too. Seems quite packed this year.June/July.
Nice read. Here's an explanation of the retina display from Phil Plait at Bad Astronomy:
http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2012/03/07/eyeballing-the-ipad-3-retinal-display/
So the older smart covers are still compatible with these new iPad's, am I correct?
Yes. Phil Schiller verified it with The Verge.
People 'guessing' were mostly non-techies spouting Apple magic.I dunno, I'd say it was expected. People guessed the resolution before the iPad 2 even came out. That's how expected it was. It's no surprise that the iPad was going to get a resolution bump at some point. It was highly expected that it was going to be something that Apple could push as Retina since the iPhone 4 and now the 4S push that feature. The iPhone doubled its resolution for 4x the pixels when it went from 3GS to 4 since it's an easy scale factor. Doing the same for the iPad seemed natural so I don't see how such a high resolution was unexpected. That's not even looking at various leaks such as icons and other stuff that got released over time. People called it a year ago but it came a year later.
No way man, I think making it backwards compatible and not giving everyone yet another thing to worry about, was the better choice.I still wish Apple had made a new cover for the new iPad. Something between the iPad 1 cover and a smart cover.
I really don't like the smart cover
I don't like that they don't cover the back, I don't like that they are secured to the iPad just by magnets (as cool as it is).No way man, I think making it backwards compatible and not giving everyone yet another thing to worry about, was the better choice.
If they had come out with a new case, I guarantee you most people would not know that the old cover is compatible.
And what's there not to like about the covers? They're so simple. But hey, aren't there a bunch of really great 3rd part covers that take use of the magnet?
I was thinking about this as well, but there's no reason you can't use a smart cover WITH another back cover. I'm thinking of getting something like this, just for extra 'protection' when I got out with it;I don't like that they don't cover the back, I don't like that they are secured to the iPad just by magnets (as cool as it is).
I do like the open/close cover to unlock/lock feature but that's about it.
Gotta do my homework and check those 3rd party covers out...
The 16th.So.. when will these be on display in Apple stores?
Reading about the 4x Tegra 3 performance. What's after Tegra 3 and when will it be in Android tablets?
