Kid Icarus: Uprising website updates and Palutena Tweets

The Production I.G. short was terrible. I can't believe how lazy it was, they just used the in-game models. The SHAFT and 4C ones should be a lot better since they'll be using actual hand-drawn animation.

Yeah, it looked really halfassed. Hopefully some cool stuff happens in it though.

Doesn't work either... :(

That's weird! Worked for me.

The short was okay I guess. The animation and dialogue reminded me of the awful (but still mildly entertaining) Kirby shorts that showed up on NV earlier. Some of Pit's moves were pretty badass though, so hopefully there will be more action scenes in the following two parts.

Getting more and more excited for this game. Here's hoping this game is patchable in case some exploit slips through their QA. Don't want to see another Maka Wuhu situation from Nintendo. That type of patching I'm okay with.

I also hope the localization isn't that much different from the Japanese version. Do we know if the game perhaps includes the Japanese track with subtitles? Maybe wishful thinking but doesn't hurt to ask.

Well. I knew I was going to get it, so I went ahead and got it. Thank you, Amazon. And it's being released a week before I need to travel a week for work. Excellent timing.

Still waiting to hear on this pre-order, 24 free AR cards deal Nintendo mentioned. Supposedly it's available on Greek and German Amazon but nothing for the UK yet. Harrumph.

Is there any decent quality art of Tempura Wizard?

I'd absolutely love to do him, but I'm not sure if the trailer shows enough detail.
Just pause the trailer when he first appears and render him in his sitting pose: cyclopean deep-fried fish-head, black torso and limbs, breaded gauntlets, red-jeweled scepter, and a horned bowl of rice on which he sits.

I love how blatantly Japanese it is. It reminds me of the yokai in the Goemon games.

Wow that trailer. I can see camera easily being a problem for this... But wtf is this game anyways? Is rail shooter parts only a small % of this game?

Here's part of a preview for the game:

"Persevere and the initially dorky control method will become less jarring and more intuitive, and eventually the game’s vast potential will poke its head out to say hello. Kid Icarus: Uprising is a maelstrom of debilitating weirdness, it’s challenging almost to the point of seeming unwelcoming, and it does its utmost to convince you you’re not in any way worthy. But come into it with some tenacity and it’ll reward you with literal and figurative heart."

Great to hear that 9.0 is really challenging.

Land stages have a mix of rail shooter for the flight segments and free action for ground battles. Underground stages are all open, with no rail segments.

Just saw the latest trailer. If things like Tempura Wizard are common this game will be worth it out of the laughs alone.

And I hope Palutena talks as much in game as she does on the trailers. Don't really like Pit's voice though :(

In the on-foot sections of most chapters you’ll also find Intensity Gates – locked doors that will only open if you’re playing at or above the required intensity. The temptation to push yourself harder and achieve more by risking everything you’ve got is always there, like an aggressive motivational trainer or a floor-to-ceiling Ladbrokes poster.
First time I hear of this. This game just keeps on giving and it's not even out yet!

this game looks so up my alley. my favorite genre, my favorite publisher, my favorite developer (sakurai) and the play style i love and felt was underused (analog + touchscreen) with good design and MP. if i don't like this one i may just quit gaming.

This game looks absolutely phenomenal, but I'm still concerned about the control scheme. I won't often have the setup to play with the stand that's included, so the default control method better be near perfect

I was concerned until the Nintendo Direct video made sure to show how much thought went into the controls, and that they were intuitive. And most of the hands-reports seem to say they're great...for everyone but lefties; I haven't seen anything said on that.

:( This is my only concern with the game.
