During a search of his West Linn-area mansion last year, professional basketball star Zach Randolph ignored a deputy sheriff's order until the deputy aimed his handgun at Randolph's "center mass," according to police reports released this week.

Then, when deputies looked under Randolph's bed they found an assault rifle and a Desert Eagle high-powered semiautomatic pistol.

Deputies searched Randolph's home Aug. 21 while investigating a beating that occurred when a small drug deal went sour at a wee-hours party at the former Trail Blazer's home. Randolph later called the beating victim's home and asked a relative "how much money it was going to take for this to go away," the reports said.

Randolph, who now plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, has since left Oregon, and the home is listed for sale at $1.29 million.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office released 158 pages of reports this week. The documents shed light on the confrontation at Randolph's gated mansion and offer a peek into Randolph's notorious "Hoops Family" of friends and hangers-on. The mansion was featured on a segment of "MTV Cribs," a program that featured spectacular homes of the rich and famous.

One Hoops Family member, identified by police as a Crips gang associate, is scheduled for trial in January in the shooting death of a Portland nightclub bouncer on New Year's Day 2011. Another Family member is the focus of a large-scale drug investigation in Indiana, where a police informant implicated Randolph in court documents as a major supplier.

Clackamas County prosecutors have declined to charge Randolph or any of his associates in connection with the beating, during which a Southeast Portland man suffered a concussion and lacerations over his eye that required seven stitches to close.

Deputy District Attorney Christine Landers, who evaluated the police reports, praised the investigation, noting that deputies overcame getting "no cooperation from anyone in the house." However, she said the beating victim, 26-year-old James Reuben Beasley, changed his story, at first indicating he couldn't identify his attackers and later singling out two men, including Randolph's step-brother.

Beasley, who at the time of the beating was facing a Multnomah County charge of selling cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school, told police he was at Randolph's home to sell a half-ounce of marijuana. Beasley was later convicted in the cocaine case.

"The assault case would rely on the word of an acknowledged drug dealer," Landers said. "It was not prosecutable."

Beasley, contacted by phone, declined to comment.

The Clackamas County incident began when Randolph, 30, threw a Willamette River cruise party for nearly 100 guests on the Portland Spirit tour boat. Beasley was invited because his good friend, Cameron C. Cox, 29, served as live-in caretaker for Randolph's five-acre estate and 5,321-square-foot home on Southwest Turner Road.

While on the cruise, Beasley, who grows medical marijuana, told Randolph he had a small amount he could sell and was invited to an "after party," where about 20 people gathered at Randolph's home, police reported. But when Beasley offered Randolph a half-ounce for $120 Randolph balked, Beasley told police, saying it was too expensive.

Beasley told police he didn't think Randolph would object to the higher-than-normal price because of his "millionaire status."

"That is when Zach 'aggressively' snatched the marijuana out of James' hands and yelled to other people at the house to get him (James) out of the house," reports said.

Beasley told deputies that "six or seven" men who were "body-guarding" Randolph then surrounded him and hustled him outside, punching and kicking him. At least one hit him with the butt end of a pool cue, leaving him in a bloody heap on the front porch.

Two friends drove Beasley home, and the next day, after suffering nausea and headaches, he was treated at Adventist Medical Center. Beasley's mother, Shigeko Beasley, called police, who obtained a warrant to search Randolph's home.

Once inside, deputies found Randolph in bed with a woman and ordered both to "show me your hands." The woman complied, but Randolph continued to hold his hands behind his pillow and under the covers until one of the deputies, concerned they were heading into a physical confrontation, pointed his handgun at Randolph, reports say.

In the ensuing hours of interviews, two women -- one a flight attendant -- gave police false names. All those present denied any knowledge of drugs, despite the strong smell of marijuana in the air, or knowledge of the beating.

Randolph, after talking to his attorney, Raymond Brothers of Los Angeles, declined to talk with investigators.

Sgt. James Rhodes, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office spokesman, said deputies investigated the case thoroughly.

"I think the case is solvable," Rhodes said. "But whether it is prosecutable is a different question -- and that's the district attorney's call."

The Knicks are expected to announce additions to Mike Woodson's coaching staff by Saturday.

Jim Todd and Darrell Walker are expected to round out Woodson's staff.

They will replace Dan D'Antoni and Phil Weber, who left the organization when Mike D'Antoni stepped down on Wednesday.

Todd coached with Woodson in Milwaukee and was an assistant under Woodson in Atlanta. He is currently an assistant under Keith Smart in Sacramento.

The Knicks selected Walker in the first round of the 1983 NBA Draft. He played ten seasons in the league and has been coaching since 1995-1996, most recently served as an assistant in Detroit.
Darrell Walker? Well known for being a defensive-oriented coach. And being kinda nuts. Todd I'm not too familiar with. But it looks like they're getting more D coaches.
What is this about?
something something D'umbPhony sucks something something.

According to KC Johnson, Rip is out(lol) and Derrick and Cj didn't participate in the shootaround so they aren't expected to play either.

John Lucas part II...........III.

I know the Blazers are in disarray but I expect a close game.

According to Chad Ford:

IN THE DRAFT
Players who officially have declared for the 2012 NBA draft
* To preserve eligibility, player has not hired an agent

Moe Harkless, F, Fr., St. John's*
Harkless may not have been pegged as a one-and-done prospect coming out of high school, but he was among the most productive freshmen in college basketball this year. His energy level and athleticism should translate to the pros immediately. He needs a better jumper, but he's likely a mid-to-late first-round pick.

Maalik Wayns, PG, Jr., Villanova*
Wayns had a productive year scoring the basketball, but his lack of a jump shot and questions about his ability to run the point have NBA scouts projecting him as a second-rounder or undrafted player in this year's draft.

ONE FOOT IN THE DOOR
Players who are leaning toward declaring for the draft, but haven't officially announced their intentions

Harrison Barnes, G/F, So., North Carolina
J'Covan Brown, G, Jr., Texas
Anthony Davis, F/C, Fr., Kentucky
Terrence Jones, F, So., Kentucky
Jeremy Lamb, SG, So., Connecticut
Meyers Leonard, C, So., Illinois
C.J. Leslie, F, So., North Carolina State
Damian Lillard, PG, Jr., Weber State
John Henson, F, Jr., North Carolina
Fab Melo, C, So., Syracuse
Tony Mitchell, F, So., North Texas
Mike Moser, PF, So., UNLV
Arnett Moultrie, F/C, Jr., Mississippi State
Mason Plumlee, C, Jr., Duke
Thomas Robinson, PF, Jr., Kansas
Josh Smith, C, So., UCLA
Jared Sullinger, PF, So., Ohio State
Dion Waiters, SG, So., Syracuse
Royce White, F, So., Iowa Sate
B.J. Young, G, Fr., Arkansas

50-50
Players who are still deciding about declaring for the draft

Will Barton, SG, So., Memphis
Bradley Beal, SG, Fr., Florida
Trey Burke, PG, Fr., Michigan
Andre Drummond, F/C, Fr., Connecticut
P.J. Hairston, SG, Fr., North Carolina
Tim Hardaway Jr., G/F, So., Michigan
John Jenkins, SG, Jr., Vanderbilt
Perry Jones, F, So., Baylor
Myck Kabongo, PG, Fr., Texas
Doron Lamb, SG, So., Kentucky
Kendall Marshall, PG, So., North Carolina
C.J. McCollum, SG, Jr., Lehigh
James Michael McAdoo, PF, Fr., North Carolina
Quincy Miller, F, Fr., Baylor
Le'Bryan Nash, G/F, Fr., Oklahoma State
Otto Porter, F, Fr., Georgetown
Austin Rivers, G, Fr., Duke
Andre Roberson, F, So., Colorado
Terrence Ross, SG, So., Washington
Marquis Teague, PG, Fr., Kentucky
Adonis Thomas, F, Fr., Memphis
Deshaun Thomas, F, So., Ohio State
Jeff Withey, C, Jr., Kansas
Tony Wroten Jr., PG, Fr., Washington
Cody Zeller, F/C, Fr., Indiana

And out:

OUT
Players who have officially announced they will return to college next year

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, G/F, Fr., Kentucky
Kidd-Gilchrist told reporters near the end of the season that he was returning to Kentucky and would graduate there. It's an interesting choice for Kidd-Gilchrist, given that he's a lock for a top-five pick in the draft.

Patric Young, F/C, So., Florida
Young told reporters on Thursday that he will return to the Gators for his junior season. Most NBA scouts won't disagree with that decision. While Young has the body of an NBA player and is an aggressive defender, he still needs a lot of work on the offensive end. He would've been a mid-to-late first-round pick had he declared.

Harkness and Melo should not come to the NBA this yeear. I understand that at least Fab Melo is leaving because "he not do schoolwork good", but Moe should at least do another year to work on his all-around game.

Well we need to see if he is consistent.

It's not just him, the Bulls are deep.

Everyone on the team can play though only one dude can take over games.

Lucas is a playground player journeyman, he handles the ball very well, can hit jumpers(though is streaky) and just doesn't give a fuck.

Also plays alright defense(shocked no one has posted him up).

He's not the answer for the Bulls but he can hold the fort while the main guys get healthy.

Him and Mike James probably get laughed at..............THEN THEY DESTROY.

Blake gets shit on, NBA shows it no where, not even in the top 10.

Gotta protect that image, right NBA?

They were too busy showing his 2 air balls.

To be honest though, that dunk wasn't that nasty. Blake pussied out at the last second in trying to block it too.

Man, ZBo is nuts. I don't know why he needs to keep that "crew" around all the time. Does it make it feel better or something? Something worse is going to happen I bet.
