What Hayao Miyazaki can learn from High School DxD

I laughed out loud at this. So excellent! XD

Acchi Kocchi is far more likely to lead to diabetes. Good god.

I really enjoyed this show. First episode was a perfect way to introduce the character dynamics.

This is what I thought Sankarea would be. Will definitely keep watching.

Ghost moe, Zombie moe, Cthulhu moe. All we're missing is Frankenstein moe to complete the set, BRB reading Franken Fran.

OP is still terrible.

Character designs still suck.

Still boring, more boring than even the most "implied" yuri.

Yet, still not as bad as the first episode.

It's nice to see that culture shock doesn't exist in this universe. Dare it actually make some entertaining results of suffering in the narrative.

No, turning colorblind isn't enough.

Next week can't get here long enough, etc., etc.

26 episodes of this stuff...

I don't know if I can make it.

*shakes jman*

Get a hold of yourself, soldier! We can make it through this!

I'm listening to the latest ANNcast and they are discussing Polar Bear Cafe. They cannot figure out who is at home to watch the show at 5:30PM. They bring up housewives. I...I don't understand how people can be this oblivious to the existence of children.

Nice of them keeping the tradition of the double feature presentation of Grave of the Fireflies & My Neighbor Totoro... but in a optional Blu-ray pack! And Totoro now ready to light the charts on fire.

To be fair, it is based on a josei manga, so I'm sure housewives are part of the intended audience.

That is one ugly box.

Awwww. :(

Edit: Oh, out of happiness. That's good then.

Jormungand 01-02

Shit, that was a cool intro in the first episode:

Though I devour the five lands
and drink the three oceans dry,
I am powerless against the sky,
for I have neither wings, nor legs, nor hands.
I am the world snake.
My name is Jormungand.

A strange show. I have ideas about where it might go, but nothing I'm confident in predicting. It kinda feels like I'm watching Cowboy Bebop.

Dynamic Entry!
Pretty good episode. I am really liking the music, dunno, this is one of the few shows where I actually notice the background music for what it is, instead of general noise.

Sure, I'm sure there's an intent to appeal to them but it's clearly a children's show. It just seems like there was this bizarre expectation from them for working guys to come home from work and be able to watch a show about pandas rolling around. I should've waited to post about ANNcast though because their Apollon section was even better. They talk about how the lighting captures what sunlight looked like in the 60s, and how great the animation is on the piano hands.

Good stuff. So Ducky is 2/2 this season. And all he had to do was hate the shows beforehand. To be fair, he was excited for KoikeLupin (I think) and thats turning out great.
Overall this season really is pretty amazing.

Loved tsuritama 2! Haru is moe.

Tsuritama 2 - Series still feels like it's in the introduction phrase of the story, but this episode was pretty damn fun regardless, loved how they introduced the "alien" girl here - no exposition, she just suddenly appeared in the story lulz. I'm still loving the atmosphere, and the music is still so good. Looking forward to next week, since it seems like it's going have more plot development this time around mmmm.
lol, I get the feeling people are going to think this show is in its 'introduction phase' for 3/4 of its run. Appreciate it for what it is now!

Is he transcribing the music by ear? That's crazy.

Great stuff. I really love the amount of characterization done solely through the body language of the characters and how they relate to one another. I also love the way they play Kaoru and Sentaro off of each other, highlighting their individuality but also their budding camaraderie by contrasting how each one deals with the same problems. And the setting continues to feel quite different from the norm, even with the school setting. It's very unusual, for instance, to see
Christians
depicted as protagonists in anime, especially Japanese ones.

The art direction is also really growing on me, especially in the second half of the episode. As expected, music was much more predominant in this episode, matching the growth of Kaoru's character.

The focus on relationships by way of a hobby reminds me to a certain degree of Chihayafuru, except this show deals with it much better. It helps that Jazz isn't a boring card game!

Kids on the Slope 02:

So far everything about this show is hitting the right notes *snerk* for me, with the exception of some bits of inconsistent animation. But the direction makes up for a lot of that and overall the show has a very unique look that I rather like. It's very down to earth with it's approach to the visuals, and I like it. ^_^

And as others have mentioned about the first episode and this one, there's just so much conveyed through body language instead of just dialogue that it really tells you so much about the characters and what have you. Great stuff.

I'm assuming the pacing of the storytelling is going be akin to a slice-of-life show, which should be fine, since the atmosphere and characters are good enough to drive that kind of feel, but these past two episodes keep implying there is more to the story then what's on the surface though.:)

The music is really more than just noise in the background here and I'm liking it. The
fight
was more entertaining than the one of the roof and played on the two characters' personalities well.

The
live session
was fun, even moved my body a bit with it. The explicit
Christian
element for leads surprised me. I wonder if it'll play into anything later, but I'd rather it not be played into at all rather than too much. The connections between established characters is being built on nice and mellow. It works really well with the good music accompanying it.

I wholeheartedly await the next episode.

This show continues to get worse. Imagine how horrifying it will be by episode 26. I feel for those poor souls who have committed to watch this for half a year.

Now in bowl form.
So, there were a lot of chest flashing this episode, both genders. I guess appeal to both genders and then some.

I hope you say that until you get so far in, it'll be too late to escape!

Who am I joking? There's no incentive for unbound people to continue! Waaaaaaah!

I wonder what they think makes them experts on what sunlight looked like in the 60s. Were any of them even alive back then?

That's an expected skill for jazz musicians.

Bleach: Fade to the black - Fucking awful shit, action scenes that go no-where, terrible cringe-worthy dialogue, horrid pacing, average-at-best animation and direction, being forced to watch this was painful, the only positive thing I can say about it was the projector it was screening on was nice! also at least I could IRC on my phone while watching it lulz.
