I liked the Thor half more.

The Wolverine half pissed me off because it didn't even answer the dilemma in the title. It's called HULK VS. WOLVERINE, but it ends just as Hulk and Wolverine are about to fight.

$29,124,000 Friday, $299,143,000 domestic, and $832,443,000 WW without Fridays OS total.

This is great news. :)

While you may not have enjoyed the Avengers, you might be a huge fan of the Film Stage podcast discussion of it, which, despite lamenting the length of the film in question a number of times, is roughly an hour long itself. There's something for everyone!

I posted yesterday about how I could only make it 5min into the podcast before I shut it off....when they all said they enjoyed the TDKR trailer more than the Avengers, and were serious. :lol Nope. Not worth my time.

And if I had to guess how the rest of the podcast went, it'd be 95% shitting on the Avengers with a few obligatory "I liked it....I SWEAR" lines. But those first 5min only reinforced why I don't care for movie critic opinions.

Finally got to see it.

God.......wait for it......like!!!

As perfect as the Nolan Batmans, but in a completely different way.

Also I'm glad Norton passed. Ruffalo did Hulk better anyway.

If I ranked the important characters...
Hulk = Thor = Ironman > Loki > Hawkeye > Black Widow > Hill > Fury >>>>>> Coulson > Cap
I really don't like Cap.

ah i have this dvd, i like the wolverine one better i think they ended it the way they did because they have had like 2 or 3 major fights, their first round got stopped short, i think the second fight hulk got in a KO shot to the head. either way the question is like ongoing even to this day with Hulk vs Wolverine...well if they fought now Hulk would win, wolvie has been everyones punching bag these days.

Yeah, I finally just saw it after being indifferent about it.

Still am, 2 1/2 stars I guess out of four. It was funny, Hulk was awesome. I don't think his own movie would work well, he is good being the backdrop of the insanity.. The action was well done, that single long take was quite well realized. Scarlett Johnson drags the movie down for me, she just isn't convincing.

I liked Thor's entrance but a lot of the infighting seemed more fabricated than it should have, that forest fight went on way too long. They knew they were being torn apart by Loki's scheme...but they continued to argue. Another title for this movie could have been Dutch Angles because god damn, everything is tilted. Overall I enjoyed the movie a fair bit, it was a nice waste of 2 1/2 hours. Phil though? Eh, didn't really care. Hmm, I trying to think of what else I can remember, oh, I remember thinking that while this movie has some dumb 'cliche one line zingers'; it worked well, in comparison to X-Men First Class where it was terrible.

I dunno, am I missing something that other people are seeing?

I wonder if this has the legs to beat or at least come really close to Avatar... Seems like it at this point. And DKR has its work cut out for it.

will totally Facebook friend you! *giggle* *LOL*
It's not a matter of box office records anymore, it's just a matter of how stingy Marvel will be with the money regardless.

I like the sentiment, but what this needs to be is a GIF of the illusion tricking Thor into jumping into the cage.

Nostalgia.

This was a dream in realization for 20 years or more for some and when it hit and hit it's mark, people are just blown away.

Saw this for a second time. This time with my dad. He made a good point. Not only is Scarlet the wrong character for her role, she is just not convincing. Therone or Famke Janson (sp?) would have been better for the serious, savvy, sexy female. Also... her pistols along side all the other characters kinda took out of the movie and go... well, that's stupid. Other than that and Capt wearing a mask, I have no complaints.

You're not.

It's your typical summer blockbuster spectacle film, nothing more or less,

Watched it again, a friend invited me. First 45 were dreadfully boring, but the the rest was just as great as the first time. I think the Manhattan battle is destined to be one of the all-time best action sequences. Also watched it in 3D, I was pretty impressed considering it's retroconverted. There's always some depth elements in the picture, unlike John Carter which is as flat as a 2x4. No bullshit "IN YO FACE" shots either, it was nice, I enjoyed it. I greatly appreciated the digital projection too, looked a heck of a lot clearer, brighter and more colorful than the 2D showing I attended before. Fuck regular film projection, shit sucks.

Here in the theater for my 3rd viewing - 2D. Packed as hell still. The 7:45 screening sold out and the 8:00 I'm in is nearly sold out too.

Feels good man.

Both showings I went to were 2D digital, and it was crystal clear and gorgeous. Not to mention super loud sound. So awesome each time. Want to go for a third time ASAP.

Turn off your cellphone man. You are part of history, creating a second weekend record by some 50% or more ..

Complaints about Johannsson aside (I actually liked her a surprising amount in this), I don't think Charlize Theron or Famke Janssen make much sense for Black Widow.

I gotta say, my third showing was standard projection and... yeah, holy crap. So much more of a difference than I expected.

Yeah unfortunately almost no one projects digital 2D here.

Even though I hate the staff at my local theaters, and their LieMAX is either the smallest or second smallest one in the country (according to the manager), every screen is digital here. Also love that they get the special showings of older stuff like when they did the screening of the new restoration of Casablanca a few weeks ago.

You guys must be glad you don't really have to pick and choose which crazy special effects blockbusters to do, mustn't you

Gives us a chance to improve our tech at least. Pacific Rim will be building off of the water sim stuff from Battleship, for example.

Best CG water I ever saw was in Master And Commander. I've been told it's mostly CG, but I don't quite believe it.

Well, Master and Commander was the best just about everything. It is a shame not enough people saw it. Some people found it boring, but there is one aspect that Master and Commander has that is fully into God Tier and impossible to dispute:
Dat sound mix. Just insane.

And of course A Perfect Storm was the big building block for your water simulation effects, right?

Before my time, they may have redone things since that one.

That was Asylum/ILM/Weta if I recall right. Weta did the miniatures, Asylum the opening battle, ILM was called in to do the end one for the film to be done on time.

The lifesavers. Much like on Avatar. Because everyone knows if you want to get shit done, you call ILM.

I hate to disrupt the discussion you guys are having (actually I don't) but what's the deal with Capin America? I understand that he is from a different era but isn't he supposed to be a Super Soldier? Surely he should be able to do some amazing things no human can instead of thowing a shield? BTW I really enjoyed his 1 on 1 with Loky in the beginning Im just wondering about his power, not hating America mkay.

And and what's the deal with the name? Superman is a very American character but it's not obvious so why is Capin so umm America? Is he even a popular character? Well whatever the case I only know of him from the Spiderman cartoon in the early 90s.

M&C is one of my favorite movies and a modern masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. That it wasn't successful is a minor tragedy.

Cool infos. It really is great work and great direction, you just don't see the effects, ever.

He is peak human. He is everything a human is capable of being at the maximum potential. He has super strength which allows him to weild the shield without any pain from force of impact. He has the mind to calculate the angle at which to bounce the shield around and hit multiple targets. He is an excellent leader and strategist.

Yes hes a fairly popular character. You should read Ed Brubaker's run on the character. Real life answer about his name is that he is a propaganda mouthpiece. The movie illustrates this. But later on he has evolved and is name is representing how he is trying to fight for the American dream

I wish The Avengers was the typical summer blockbuster.

How many summer blockbusters have genuinely funny dialogue, great characters with chemistry between them and good comedic timing? Not to mention really well shot action.

If Avengers was the average summer blockbuster, then the overall quality bar for summer blockbusters would be about 1000% higher than it is currently.
