It's basically a matter of learning the enemy spawns. Once you know where everyone is/will be, it's generally pretty easy to kill them before they can shoot you. One thing I really like about Perfect Dark, is that even when you increase the difficulty, the AI do not become superhuman. They're really no better than the other difficulties, except for the fact that they do more damage. In other games, the enemies will sometimes become crack shots who can hit you in the head with a pistol from 4 hundred miles away (maybe slight exaggeration, but you get my point).I'm playing Perfect Dark. It's made me realize what a little bitch I've become. There is no healing and there are no checkpoints. It's like regular chapter-by-chapter NYM from Max Payne, but it's not the special way to play - it's just how the game is designed.
And I used to be competent at these games when I was younger. I reached Jungle on 00 agent in GE back in the day. And I got up to Carrington Institute on Perfect Agent back then too.
Now I'm having trouble beating the game on Special Agent.
The levels can usually be completed well under 10 minutes (Chicago can be done in a minute) so there isn't much need for checkpoints.
