Achieve Trophies | June 2012 Thread | Diabol Pls. Regards, Kaz and Don.

I'm playing Perfect Dark. It's made me realize what a little bitch I've become. There is no healing and there are no checkpoints. It's like regular chapter-by-chapter NYM from Max Payne, but it's not the special way to play - it's just how the game is designed.

And I used to be competent at these games when I was younger. I reached Jungle on 00 agent in GE back in the day. And I got up to Carrington Institute on Perfect Agent back then too.

Now I'm having trouble beating the game on Special Agent.
It's basically a matter of learning the enemy spawns. Once you know where everyone is/will be, it's generally pretty easy to kill them before they can shoot you. One thing I really like about Perfect Dark, is that even when you increase the difficulty, the AI do not become superhuman. They're really no better than the other difficulties, except for the fact that they do more damage. In other games, the enemies will sometimes become crack shots who can hit you in the head with a pistol from 4 hundred miles away (maybe slight exaggeration, but you get my point).

The levels can usually be completed well under 10 minutes (Chicago can be done in a minute) so there isn't much need for checkpoints.

The Vita MGS HD Collection on the other hand, sounds like an enormous fucking hassle. Only save games made after the most recent PS3 patch will unlock trophies in the Vita version, so if I want the MGS2 Vita platinum I'm going to have to do all that shit all over again. Facking bullshit.

Luckily I didn't get very far yet so restarting isn't a problem. I do wonder if you'd unlock all Trophies without playing or if you would need to replay stuff on the Vita too. In that last case you'd need to be very smart about your saves.

Oops sorry was in the wrong thread ^_^;
...but what the hey; can I still get Trophies in Sonic CD if I use save states?

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

No save states in Sonic CD. It auto saves after you complete a level (and after when you complete the bonus stage).

Aha thanks for clearing it up.
Well I'll just play it like how I would play a Normal classic Sonic game and see how I fare~

What you're completely missing is that those were horrible experiences for most of the people that went for them. Trophies shouldn't just be for the most dedicated/insane people around, that kinda kills the entire appeal of them.

Regarding NYMH, I thought that while it was a stressful achievement, it forced you to approach Max Payne 3 in such a cool way. Speed-running through the game, strafing in bullet time and popping 1000+ headshots in one sitting was really fun.

And finally completing it was such an awesome feeling.

Also, I'm finally getting the hang of Perfect Dark! I blasted through 4 special agent levels today. I should have the special agent difficulty beaten later today. I'm still gonna aim for just a 175/200 though. I'm not gonna even attempt perfect agent, haha. Hopefully I can get the Tools Of The Trade achievement, as that's been known to glitch out.

Thanks for the post (didn't notice it until just now). Re: unfair AI, Black Ops veteran always felt like that.

Also, I'm probably gonna be starting Fallout New Vegas Ultimate pretty soon. What should I expect if I want to get 1655/1655 in that game?

I fucking LOVED Fallout 3. Also, getting every achievement was pretty straightforward. Barely any missables (as long as you don't straight up murder quest givers), and since I'm naturally a goody-two-shoes in any of these types of games, it was easy to get the karma achievements. I played a good guy, and whenever it was time for a big level milestone, I'd use back-up saves and use a computer that wasn't mine over and over to reduce my karma.

Huff huff... my head is going to explode from this headache, have been playing Silent Hill Downpour for 7 hours, then after I finished it I started it a speed run RIGHT AFTER THE ENDING to get the other endings trophies which lasted a little less than 3 hours.... MY GOD I'm so glad my Trophies Hunting Summer Marathon is OVER, no new games for me till Resident Evil 6 in October.

Anyway, my state now is:

Going to replay some of my favorite games started with Lara :p

Read up on the different endings before you start making any of the major story decisions. Using different saves you can get all endings without starting over. I played the hardcore mode seperate and using a guide finished it in 2-3 hours.

So looks like the game has a lot of missables. I'd probably spoil the story for myself if I read about those decisions ahead of time.

In that situation I always decide I'll play it a second time. I.E. with Deus Ex, I played it the first time normally, without any attention paid to missable achievements. Then I played it a second time on hard, looking for all the missables.

I got all the achievements in Fallout 3 in one playthrough because it was so ridiculously easy to avoid the missable achievements. And avoiding them required virtually ZERO spoilery story info. I clocked in at around 100 hours for the full 1550/1550 though

Best way to do the endings without spoiling the story is to make say 2-3 seperate saves once you get to New Vegas and don't use them till after you finish it once.

This is my first time posting in here..and I have no idea what to say.
Well, I'm working on SSX and InFamous 2. I only got a PS3 a month ago, so I'm not even close to as far along as some of you are.
I'll just post up my card.

As you can tell, I have a slight problem with starting games, and not finishing them. I'm trying to work on it d:

Welcome to the club! Maybe achievements can give you some incentive to complete more titles.

It helped for me at least.

Ads for Madagascar 3 the game state that it's available with Redbox. A sign of an easy completition or Redbox just increasing the awareness of their game rental service?

Yep, I don't have much going on Monday/Tuesday (depending on time zones) so that'll be fine.

Nice purchases. MGS Vita Collection just arrived and screw it, I think I'm just going to rush through as much as I can until Gravity Rush arrives (which should be mid next week). I'll just play through the Tanker first, get the fun stuff out of the way and then I can grind the Plant and VR Missions later.

Cool thanks. Find that game pretty boring on my own. As for modnation. I prefer it over the ps3 one. That will be a stain on my profile. No one wants to dl my iron man on vita though. 2 downloads in 3 weeks :(

  • Dead Rising 2- 900/1000
  • Resident Evil 5- 405/1000

Must be <3 Capcom month. Finished up Dead Rising 2 again over the last couple of days. Love this game. Leaving it at 900 for now because I'm not in the mood to do Genocider or the online again. Made a save ready to hop in the Hummer if I do decide to come back to it one day though. My disappointment of E3 was no DR3 announcement. Started up Resident Evil 5 again too. I forgot how hard it was starting out without any upgrades. At first I was seriously starting to wonder how I S-ranked Professional years ago because casual was kicking my ass :).

Just picked up Uncharted 1,2 and 3, hoping to plat them all. I've completed them all earlier, but I never owned them. Just started my hard/treasure hunt playthrough of the first game. Hard isn't too bad, is crushing a lot harder?

IIRC it is. But Uncharted 1 had a little known "exploit" with aiming behind cover that you can use to your advantage.

Damn, Perfect Dark is glitchy as hell.

I beat the main story on special agent (as in, I defeated the
skedar
boss) and got no achievement. Anyone have any fix for this?

edit: Well I just found the problem. I went through each level I beat, and all of them had a special agent time except for Mission 1.2 (the second level, Datadyne: Research), which I only beat on Perfect Agent. So it had a Perfect Agent time, but no Special Agent time, haha. I just beat Mission 1.2 on SA and got the achievement. But now it looks like I've gotta go through the game on Agent to get that difficulty achievement. Should be a cakewalk.

Anyone play X Men Destiny?

I'm trying to beat the last boss on the hardest setting and I'm having a hell of a time. Looks like I picked a wrong power along the way as most vids have them using a Giga beam ability to zap his shield/energy.

IIRC it is. But Uncharted 1 had a little known "exploit" with aiming behind cover that you can use to your advantage.

That's how I did it. Aim while not in cover. You can see and shoot them but they cannot see you. I was doing it again in the 3rd one just this week.

Only Uncharted 1 is a bit hard, and not too much. For Uncharted 2 there's a glitch you can use (and works with the lastest patch) that gives you infinite ammo and one-shot kills. Basically you can trick the game to let you use the cheats you buy from the in-game store on your first Crushing playthrough.

I've gotten 1000/1000 in the following:

Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs: 1/10
Open Season: 3/10
Viva Pinata Party Animals

I don't recall Open Season being much more difficut than Meatballs, I would probably rate both a 1 or 2. VP Party Animals is probably a 4 by comparison, not much harder but quite a bit more time to get 1000. If anyone buys Party Animals and needs the viral achievement just let me know.

I've also already own Kameo, Conan, Rockstar Table Tennis, Sega Superstar tennis and PDZ from that list but haven't played them yet. I wish they had Viva Pinata TIP on sale too as I would pick up a 2nd copy so I could play co-op with the kids on 2 consoles.

Couldn't help myself, so many deals I ran into, and not having played many of these games is wonderful, and that's what made me jump on so many.

Sega Superstar Tennis does not deserve a 10. I completed the singleplayer in a couple of days when I knuckled down on it, the MP is very easy. I'd say a 7 for the 1000 would be about right. Beat's missions from memory were the worst, but they're still doable. Table Tennis took me several years to complete, not that I was playing it constantly or anything, but if you want to complete it you really need a friend who has a Trueskill ranking in the high 40's or a TS of 50. Also, never, I repeat, never lose a game online. I doubt anyone is playing these days in any case, but if you play properly online and lose you make it that much harder on yourself. I hate the Trueskill system when it comes to achievements. Since I had played and lost a few games (maybe 5?) it took me 130 more games to get the achievements than the people who just win (against high levels) from the start. The single player on All-star is challenging, I'd rate the game 9/10.

The Kameo rating I agree with, when you don't consider the 0 pointers that is. They are generally much harder than the base 1000. The only mildy difficult thing to get the 1000 is the A rankings, but there is a fair bit of leeway in most levels. I also agree with PDZ (I wrote the guide, the proper one, so I probably should agree with myself) it's very difficult on Dark Agent. Same as with the original PD, you need to memorise the levels, even then, it's a struggle.

I haven't played any of the others.

No Fear Of Heights on Lollipop Chainsaw is really starting to get on my nerves..I've lost count on how many times I've died on this because of terrible luck.
EDIT: Of course when I post this, I actually do it.
EDIT #2: I died 43 times before I finally got that trophy.

None for UC2.

UC1 the general idea is that even when you're behind cover, what your reticle can see, you can shoot. i.e. Bad guys shoot at your cover, while you take your time and aim for the head.

There's one for UC2. It makes Crushing a joke.

Look: http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/un...-how-use-tweaks-crushing-without-beating.html

It works, I did it myself 2 months ago.

edit: By the way, I have a 71% completion rate according to PSNprofiles, not bad at all I think. It should go up this summer since I'm planning to complete somo unfinished platinums like Uncharted 3 or Resonance of Fate

Has anyone done SH Downpour? Just started the game and I'm really enjoying it. Was wondering about getting plat.

I done it on 360 a few months ago. Fun and easy! Use a collectable guide and read about where to save in order to get the 5 endings. Also unless it's been updated the autosave didn't work so in order to do a hard save enter and exit a building.

Goals for this month:

Max Payne 3: Beat the game on New York Minute Hardcore. The 1000/1000 won't be a big problem as long as I can get this achievement.

Arkham City: Complete the new Robin DLC to bump myself up to 1500/1500

And also finally friggin get 175/200 in both Lara Croft and Perfect Dark. I keep putting those two off. I don't want to get 200/200, I just want to "beat" those two games.

Well so far so good!

Max Payne 3: I did end up beating NYMH early in the month. I'm currently at 950/1000, with the only two achievements left being get to level 40 and get to level 50. I won't go out of my way for these just yet. If the DLC is really good and has fun achievements, I'll get the Rockstar Pass and play the DLC and level up along the way.

Arkham City: The new DLC was really easy to complete, and so I'm at 1500/1500. It a decent, fun Arkham City mission, good enough to stand in with the rest of the story and side quests, but way too short to justify an 800-point price. Meanwhile the Nightwing and Robin DLC (both at 560 points each) offered like 50 hours of game play...

Perfect Dark: I just hit 175/200 and so now I'm done with the game (I don't want to play Perfect Agent mode). I got the Challenge achievement by cheesing the hell out of it, hahaha. I got 29 total stars, but I didn't actually beat all 29 challenges.

Lara Croft: I still have to beat this game. Goal is 175/200, because I have no intention of completing all the challenges.

And like I mentioned before, I'll be starting New Vegas soon. The goal there is definitely the full 1655/1655.

There is also a glitch where you don't need to find the 50 (?) different things for that one trophy. You can repeat a series of simple steps once you get halfway in the game and collect them all that way.

Here's my PSN profile card. I literally just got my Plat in Binary Domain an hour ago. According to my play data, between Campaign, Invasion, & Versus Modes, it took me around 150 hours to complete this game 100%.

That's longer than my Platinum PLUS 100% in-game statistic in Yakuza 3. CRAZY! I won't be doing shit like this too often. I made a special exception for Binary Domain because I love the Yakuza team so much. Although, as much as I loved Binary, the Platinum was 100 hours too much, especially considering the majority of my time spent was in the multiplayer. =/

Well, I've been feeling my PS3 recently and I have a ton of games near 100%/Platinum so I'll probably get a few more this month, maybe.

So Steve, how about using PSNprofiles cards for the coming threads? Now they include % completion and the number of games in your profile.

I still need to use YGC for the point values. I'm not sure how frequent PSProfiles updates now, but YGC is often faster for non-registered users. I like the options from PSProfiles more too.

I guess you guys and girls can add in too. How would you like your scores be represented?
