I'm supposed to go see this movie with my two siblings this evening, but I honestly don't know if I can sit and allow myself to be entertained in the same kind of environment that a dozen people lost their lives in just a few hours ago. It feels wrong and I don't know if I can shake that feeling if I watch the movie.
If it doesn't feel right to see it right now, don't go. Someone else said it would be in the back of their mind when the same scene came on screen.
I don't think anyone should be afraid to go see it, but if it feels off, don't go.
I had no intention of seeing it anyway, but I'm not going to think someone is weird for not watching it and I'm not going to think less of someone for still being able to see it.

Also assuming there's actually other sick individuals out there - possibly intent on copying this, then I hate to think they're motivated by the attention this will get. Obama and press coverage.

Horrible , thats all I can say. I know exactly how the families of these people are feeling , having a family member murdered is one of the worst things to go through.

Was the snarkiness really necessary? I'm not fishing for compliments, I'm only saying that you shouldn't let something like this stop you from enjoying yourself.

It's not about fear, it's about empathy. Not that everyone needs to feel the same, but don't act like people who have no interest in seeing a movie for a while are being dictated by fear.

Yeah my GF woke me up this morning to this. Crazy world that we live in. People are just going out to a movie they are excited to see and ends in tragedy. That dude hopefully will get what he deserves. Even his mom knew he was fucked up for God's sake. Unfortunately the piece of shit will get an insanity plea and be kept alive. He deserves to die.

Terrible news. So sad.

As for bringing a baby to the movies, I'm always against that. The baby could start crying and ruin everyone's movie experience, and who knows what else. However, that's not the reason the child got shot. That's just an unfortunate outcome. PEACE.

I'm not going to blame the parents and I'm not surprised they brought their kids but as an aside, bringing your kids to a R movie at midnight is awful. Don't do that.

Yep, the parents of the 6 year old and the parents of the baby are two examples of how to be very bad parents.

That's it though, they're just bad parents. My sympathies still go out to the parents of the 6 year old who died, a terrible tragedy.

I feel sorry for the victims and everybody involved.

And please, stop saying "Whats wrong with this world" when in the same sentence your demanding the murderer to be tortured etc. This doesnt help ANYBODY.

Something awful happens and all you can do is react with agression and whos guilty and all that.

Of course i hope the murderer gets his rightful punishment.

But for now what matters is that i hope everybody whos still in the hospital survives.

All this focus and perverted voyeurism (like try to find his fb account) etc on the murderer is not helping to prevent horrible things like this in the future.

I'm a little scared because I have to work the next three nights. We usually always have a cop that stays until the last movie is over but I wonder if they will increase security for this weekend even in another state, I'm in Texas. I know my theater has a rule, no kids under six after six but it's only for rated R movies. I really don't know what to say other than I fell terrible for the victims and their families.

WB has smartly pulled the Gangster Squad trailer attached, featuring this scene:

This guy seemed ready for a fight, and all of a sudden he gives up peacefully and tells them his place is rigged? Weird.

Yeah, it is weird. One of the FBI was saying that it was all to extend his press coverage after the shooting was over, though I still don't understand why he would tell the police.

Yeah, I don't get this. Change of heart? Intimidation? I don't get it.

Maybe he gave them vague information on what he might have in his apartment? To cause more chaos?

Who knows with his mental state at this point. I'm guessing he'll be smiling in his mugshot.

C'mon man. It's Batman, not some bumbo jumbo random sex-fiend Bayfest. I'd watch it if I was 6. It is completely irrelevant who was there and who wasn't. Did they KNOW someone is going to start shooting in the damn theatre?

Dont' change the subject
6 year old kids don't belong at a midnight showing for a movie that is inappropriate for them to be watching. Be a good parent. Get a damn babysitter

Why'd the guy go through all the trouble of booby trapping his place, yet warn the police once they have him in custody?

The same reason he systematically planned a massacre but yet did not even have much of an escape route planned; he just doesn't give a fuck.

Yeah its pretty bizzare to say the least also how its so complicated and the guy is only 24. Must be pretty smart rig up something to cause this much trouble for the police etc

Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
OK. Here's a live update on conditions of certian victims.

From University of Colorado Hospital.

Verifying Children's Hospital email that another victim has died. They had 6 people, from good to critical. At that time of release, it was accurate. At 0811 local, someone had died. Information still incoming.

23 people are at University Hospital.

NUmber of people going to hospital is rising, due to chemical exposure.

9 people at University in critical condition.

Aurora: 4 in critical

Swedish 2 in critical.

At University, abdomen, chest and shrapnel wounds. Most have been in hours of surgery.

One person at DGH has been upgraded from critical to fair.

This is really sad and disheartening. RIP to all who have died and a speedy recovery to those who were injured, especially the young ones.

Those people came to have fun at the movies :(

I woke up this morning at 7am and saw all of this, but just couldn't get myself to post about it yet. Just awful news, heartbreaking. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims and their families. I can't even imagine what they must be going through.

I do have one question, and if it's out of place please ignore. Did they suspect there may be bombs and traps, or did he reveal that to them? I imagine if he just told them then they must have got to awful quick work interrogating this monster, and rightfully so.

I'm actually glad he survived and didn't kill himself like they all seem to do. Not just so we can see him rot away and possibly eventually be put to death on our terms, but so that his sick mind can be studied in depth, or maybe he will open up as to why he did all of this. We almost never get a chance to do so with the pieces of trash like this. I do fear the onslaught of "reports" blaming all forms of entertainment, and likely now, social media and interaction.

GungHo

Single-handedly caused Exxon-Mobil to sue FOX, start World War 3
How did you find his age? He signed one of his posts on AR15 as "Jim".
Is this guy actually an Arfcommer or are we just hounding every James Holmes in the known world, like they did to that guy on Facebook?

It is times like this you wish there was a police officer or a military veteran present. Someone to put the lives of others before their own.
In a crowded, dark theater with tear gas? Thanks for assuming we have superpowers, I guess, but you've seen too many goddamn movies.

What are the odds that this guy is former military who was deployed to either iraq or afghanistan?
What are the odds that I don't appreciate your insinuation?
