The promo shot is a CG render released officially a figurative age ago, it wouldn't have the final fine print details in it.

Well, there's the chance that people playing Halo 4 are doing so legitimately because of connections with Microsoft. In that case if you're accused of piracy you can just turn in those private messages and request the ban hammer. After all running around and accusing people of piracy and harassing them is just as ban worthy on Xbox Live as playing a pirated game.
Now I don't think that will be a first time response but anyone going after others and accusing them of piracy probably has a history of annoying other people online, so it might just be the final nail in his coffin.

Not a chance. The amount of time it takes to write one, get it approved by the legal department etc. Not gonna happen this fast.
Also not a chance of this happening. Marketing plan probably been in place for the better part of a year.
I actually thought the French was better than the English version. Aliens should not be speaking English, especially the annoying-sounding grunts. Them speaking (to my ears) a jibberish alien language is much more immersive.

Well I have great news, the Covenant are back to speaking in their native tongue! I actually like it a lot more this way.. I do think grunts may occasionally shout a word or two in English though.

I was at a MS event today and specifically asked about the leaks and stuff, and I was told that to their knowledge retail copies are not set to be distributed to reviewers before late next week / early in two weeks time, and as far as they were informered no one has retail copies right now.

Why not? They used trollfaces and unedited meme images in Anniversary, Fable: The Journey and Forza Horizon achievements are full of epic fails, arrows to the knees, xzibits, #winning and other internet moron slang terms.
It's just a thing Microsoft studios do, a sort of regurgitated authorial touch.

I really hope i don't get the story spoilt because of this. I like keeping up to date with games so i won't be completely staying away from it until it is out, but it is annoying how it has leaked this early.

Why not? A game that sells millions being leaked very early is something I'm sure they will prosecute the source of if they can find them. Didn't they wind up finding and charging the people who leaked either Halo 2 or Halo 3? If no retail copies have been distributed, this means it has to be someone at one of the factories, so that's probably a very finite number of people.
I like how this is now the meta-meta-troll.

You do realise that the probable source of these leaks is from the workplace of production facilities in Mexico and elsewhere? Workplace theft and being the source of serious copyright theft usually warrants a lot of trouble.
The film industry is the same, the guy that steals the copy of the film and uploads it is usually the one that gets thrown in jail.
It's a product with over $1bil on the line, so yeah... It's a pretty huge deal
($500 million in production and marketing as well as over $500 million in sales as well as $100s of millions in residual revenue)
