Ill still be buying LEGO LotR. Got in when the price was 29.99 on Amazon, plus a 10$ credit for a future game, plus I had 5 or 10$ free Amazon credit already. Makes it worth it.

It got overshadowed by TheatreRhythm, but I just got into Rhythm Thief and I have to say it is a great game. Very much like Layton, but with Rhythm challenges. Incredible art style as well. Can't believe it was published by Sega.

Hmm?

Rhythm Thief is the most Sega-like game that Sega had released in years.

I thought I was alone in thinking that. Thank you, sir.

Because building a virtual Helm's Deep brick by brick is much more fun than re-enacting the battle that takes place within it in fun, co-operative gameplay? I agree it should be an option, but the LEGO games are great.

Is there any rumour of pure white or black 3DS XL coming to North America ? I can't bring myself to buy the current colours. I find it bizarre Reggie of Nintendo saying black or white doesn't really sell in North America. Based on what ? The overwhelming success of the DS Lite ( primary black or white) or Wii (primarily white)?

Going to download the video now. hhahahah

edit: It's just a remix of an older episode of DO. Cute though and the song is quite catchy! :p

Or the overwhelming success of the ipod or just about any electronic device released since 2000. Even the Wii came in all black or all white.

Hopefully they come out by Christmas because that is what I want to ask for.

Right now I can settle for my GBA Micro and the PSP to tide me over while I'm on the train to school. Have my DS as well, but want to save those screens for the XL.

GameSpot posted up a review of Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask - I've only ever played the first Layton game on the DS, liked it, but never got around to playing the other two.

Kind of tempted to get this one.

The layton series are divided in 2 trilogies; the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy.

Original
Curious Village
Diabolical/Pandora's Box
Unwound/Lost Future

Prequel
Spectre's Flute/Call
Miracle Mask
Ancient Civilization (no English name known yet)<Zomg so hyped for this one>

I recommend playing all the games as they're simply amazing, especially Unwound Future and am currently playing through Spectre's Call which is just as fun so far. However, be aware that Miracle Mask is in the prequel trilogy and it might help playing Spectre's Call to learn of some characters; though it is not mandatory.

They're all amazing games you should play though.

I'll re-quote myself:

Rhythm Thief is awesome, I'll just quote myself:

In a promotional note, GAF, you NEED to play Rhythm Thief, it's amazing, it's like a game stuck into the 00', but not in a bad way but more of a "We don't care about all those gimmicks and tedious tasks on our game, we are all about FUN and gameplay" way.

Play it GAF!

My 2012 GOTY so far. :)

Has anyone played that Dr. Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights game? It's $11 on Amazon, and I'm wondering if it's any good.

I haven't really seen anyone vouch for it. If you're looking for a quirky, Layton-esque game, I think you'd be better off with Rhythm Thief.

Rhythm Thief is great, still is my GOTY so far.Bought it for €50 and no regrets. This is Sega at its finest. So many winks to older Sega Rhythm franchises. Like Space Channel 5 and Samba the Amigo. I think the animation is also really well done. the 3d cut scenes are great too. I hope there will be a sequel on the 3ds. But seeing the state Sega is in i dont see them creating another 1. I played theaterythm too. But i am just not a big enough fan of Final Fantasy to enjoy it. So Rhythm Thief is my rythm game of choice

Zero's Escape is launching next month maybe that will top it. Because that is the only game i will see it top it this year.

That's what I'm thinking. the quick price drop led me to believe that it's not too great, but I dunno, I've had fun with bad games before. I will pick up Rhythm Thief eventually.

If you are not on the Dimps Hate train. It is a pretty good game. Not as good as Sonic Generations on the PC. But nice for a portable. The game has 7 zones and a couple of bosses.

Also the classic sonic learns an homing attack in the game. Some people think it is unacceptable but i don't mind it one bit. The thing i dislike is that Zones are really short first time i played green hill zone with classic Sonic i completed it in 1 and a half min. They are like a recreation of the old stages albeit shorter.

It has nice online stuff too you can race against other people online and there is an Time Trial with online leader boards. I am kinda into that kind of stuff so i got a lot of fun out of that. Also there are tons of stuff to unlock. one of the most fun parts is that you have like a fan card with all your stats on it you can also say your favorite sonic game. I discovered people actually like sonic the hedgehog 2006, sonic riders and a lot of shadow the hedgehog fans. More power to them i guess :)

Although the story is really short like 3 to 5 hours short. I had fun with it because of time trials, Online Races and you have to like getting S rank on the missions. If you like all of that get it when you can get a nice deal on it. But it is not worth paying €50 for.

Do it now now now now now, do it.

Now, seriously, if you remotely like rhythm games, and love a game with charming characters, fun plot and surprisingly high production values (i.e. quality), get Rhythm Thief. :)

Hana Samurai seems to have finally been released.

For those that played it months ago what can you tell me about it? Worth a pickup at $9.10AU (I don't know why it's that price)

It's a good deal, best Resident Evil game this year. ;)

I agree 100%. RE is my ATFS (all time favorite series), 2012 was supposed to be splendid for RE fans. Resident Evil Revelations was the impressive game (leaving ORC and RE6 in the dust) - and remains tied for 2nd favorite in the series (behind RE1/REmake), alongside RE2. The scope and scale feels (controls and has moments) like 4/5, but has the narrative and atmosphere of the earlier games.

Here is where the big surprise to me hit: I like RE:Revelations a lot more than RE6. RE 6 was supposed to be great, and it has moments, but by the end of that game, I was DONE. I wanted the credits to just happen. It ran way too long and lacked editing and cohesion on Capcoms part. As a long time series fan since its PS1 inception, I will wholeheartedly recommend Revelations to any RE fan, especially for anything less than 40$.

I liked the game better than 4, 5, CV, 0 and 3/Nemesis and 6

I have the demo, just about out of plays on it. I'm waiting on a sale. I'm very poor at the moment.

Well, the three games included in the demo are the less interesting of them all, just to give you an idea of how awesome it is. :p

And no, I don't work for Sega :p it just happens to be a very unique game that, I believe, people need to experience.

There are three games in my US demo: dancing, stealth, and fighting. Is the EU demo different?

True, haha.

I swear this thing has too many games. Currently playing and loving Code of Princess, and I feel like I need to hurry up before Paper Mario, Mickey and Sonic Kart get released (and that's ignoring Harvest Moon, Layton and Adventure Time if turns out okay). Then Devil Survivor Overclocked sits unplayed on my collection, I haven't finished Shadow Wars, I can't wait for the Mutant Mudds DLC, I haven't bought Mario Tennis and Rhythm Thief... I don't even want to think about it.

The next year we get freaking Fire Emblem, Castlevania, Etrian Odyssey and Luigi's Mansion. I give up.

Possessing an unplayed copy of Devil Survivor Overclocked is a capital offense. I won't report you to the authorities if you start playing it immediately.

Wow, is that true..? OMG look! there's a man not playing his Devil Survivor copy over there!

I'm still concerned about the games I need to play when I get my 3DS. So far I'm planning on:

- Zero Escape: VLR
- Zelda: OoT 3D
- Paper Mario: Sticker Star
- Super Mario 3D Land
- Kid Icarus Uprising
- Resident Evil: Revelaitons
- Kingdom Hearts
- NSMB II

There's more, but these ones take priority for me. My wallet, it bleeds!

To anyone who has played the Layton/PW games, are the sequels friendly for beginners? I feel like I'm missing out if I start off with the 3DS games. I'd need to find some way to get the DS games, which I'm sure are hard to find.

The current library is nice, but did the new game announcements just...stopped?

I can only remember 3 major announcements in Japan these past few months: Ace Attorney 5, Layton 6, and Shin Megami Tensei 4. Those are good games, but I kinda expected more for a console that sells 60k weekly in Japan.

Am I forgetting things?

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

There have been some other announcements like the Vanguard game, the Elminage Gothic porting or the next chapter in the Animal Crossing-clone series from Konami. And also Yokai Watch from Level 5. But yeah, announcements slowed a bit. Probably, it's just a temporary lull and soon we'll see more.

Hopefully! I just got my 3DS and the current library (+ DS games I haven't played) is probably enough for months, but more announcements would be nice. Would like something quirky like Rhythm Thief.

Is Code of Princess good if you're mainly going solo? I heard it's very short for single players.

So what games does this have? I got the 3DS XL because I found the 3DS to be uncomfortable. I played Mario 3D Land already and thought it was okay. I picked up NSMB 2 and didn't love it. Now I'm wondering "what's next?" I don't see anything until Fire Emblem that I'm interested in. At least not anything that isn't Mario. And I'm kind of Mario'd out right now after 2 mainline titles.

What's the best 32 gig SD card for a 3ds? I'm trying to go all digital aside from where I don't have a choice (Adventure Time)

I'm hoping its Wii-U induced silence. They need a blowout after Christmas to tell us whats in store in the year or so to come!

Yes, it's very good. It's short if you beat the campaign with one character (around 5 hours) but the game encourages you to go back and finish extra bonus quests and you can also beat the campaign with 3 other characters that you unlock throughout the game.

Wow, to transfer from a 4gb to 32gb, all I have to do is put them in my SD card reader and copy and paste it to the new one? That'll work for saves, dlc, etc?
