Oh, well I thought since all Blizzard games are available digitally on midnight nowadays, not back then.

Yeah - the digital era has definitely taken a lot of midnight launch-hype away. But it can still be pretty crazy at times! I also remember the TBC launch... frikkin' amazing.

Oh my local stores always have WoW-midnight launches (pretty huge in Sweden). Unfortunately, SC2 doesn't create as much hype :/

Skirmish? You mean you vs AI? You pretty much get XP for everything you do (except for single-player). You vs AI, you vs your buddy, unranked ladder, ranked ladder, etc.

It felt like a big event for Wings of Liberty.. they had a little map with midnight launches and I went down to my local one only to find I went to the wrong 24 hour branch. Got it the next week I think.

There's no point in waiting for this because the most efficient way to defeat AI's is to cannon/proxygate or proxy rax or 7 pool.

Experience is directly based on how much resources you spend and how many units/buildings you kill so you wouldn't get very much at all by slaying ai's.

Then you and yoshi can help me get 15 in a row vs the "elite" AI

The Elite AI can actually beat some of the proxy cheese strategies on 4 player maps if you spawn on cross positions and the proxy is delayed.

Yup. That's how we did the 3vAI achievements, pretty much. I played random though, so whenever I got terran I massed marines. Protoss meant cannon cheese and with zerg I went 13 pool mass ling.

Started playing this again after getting the RTS itch back from my AoE2 excitement.

I played the WoL campaign ages ago not long after release, but was always terrified to play multiplayer. Will be playing here and there and learning as I go with all of the training options that's been put in the game. Maybe I'll pick up HOTS

Yes, I am aware of unranked Still doesn't make it any less imtimidating when I still get my butt handed to me sometimes in these AI scenarios But yeah, it's still a good time.

Multiplayer isn't stressful because I'm afraid of losing, it's stressful because I am exerting 100% of my physical and mental resources playing a game.

Even when I win a game, I need to take a break.

I've been just as completely physically drained at the end of a 6 hour ladder session as I have been after a few at the gym.

Goddamit, really would love to get the Collector's Edition of this but i can't really afford it right now.

Have WoL CE, would've liked a complete collection. Also, love Blizzard's artbooks.

Also, what are the chance the story doesn't suck?

Lets share some WOL memories while we wait for HOTS to launch!

Bunker rushed a Zerg today on Akilon flats. It worked but he ended up expanding on my natural and used a banebust to kill me lol. Its hilarious how matches work out sometimes. It was my fault for not leaving a Marine outside my main.

Also had a failed Cannon Rush done on me. Well it was almost a success until I built my bunker and killed the cannon with SCVs repairing the bunker. Then had my bio kill the Toss. Took longer than I would have liked but I lost too many SCVs to go attack the Toss right away.

So for today I had a 3-5 record. Really need to work on making my win rate higher than my loss rate.

I'm really confused at some the choices some players make though. Once I went BF Hellion with MMM and the Zerg made just Ling and Banes. It was very onesided lol.

There was another time where a Zerg tried to flank me but I had about 5 tanks near my 3rd while my main army was moving out. It was dumb luck because I forgot to unsiege them lol. The Roaches ended up getting turned into paste from Tank fire.

What about you guys?

I think you will have to add the CD key to your bnet account. WoL will still be allowed to play(not sure how that works)

I believe the current patch has all the updates installed

I felt pretty damn smart against a zerg a couple weeks ago. He scouted me early, I was going one gate expand, he saw my expand and he immediately went 3 hatch before pool. I cancelled my nexus and went one base, 4 gate pressure which ended up destroying him at the 8 minute mark.

I'm usually not confident enough to cancel that nexus to pull something like that off.

from what I understand it's a large download from the WoL Client. I'm just now downloading about 5-6 gb from the client, separate from the big 2.0.5 patch that was released a while ago that changed the UI and all that.
