I laughed at the commercial. And that scene where the guy bumped her... that phone would've flew out of her hands if she hadn't known what was coming.

Coming from someone with a Galaxy S4.

That phone is too big for me, sorry. I mean holy fuck thats big, makes the s4 there look like an iPhone.

Meh.

If its unlocked and can be used on the Sprint network, i will definitely get one. I was going to get the note or tab, whatever it was called, instead of the s4, but the crappy screen dissuaded me. Bring on the phablets! Just hoping the battery life is okay.

1080p makes it sound better than the Galaxy Mega.

As a current Note 2 owner, who before getting that phone, carried around a 7" tablet on my pocket, I can't wait :D

This is seriously dissapointing -_-...

I actually asked in the Xperia Z thread about the Z/ZL coming to sprint, and it was the same response. But i figured that since this phablet will be LTE, should it not work on sprint's network? Really bummed out about this if i won't be able to buy one.

They have to stop calling these devices phones. People are too hung up on it. Id be willing to bet most of the people that have these smartphones use the actual phone feature the least amongst everything else you can do with it. Its not its primary function anymore. IMO of course.

I was considering this as an option as I'm due a phone upgrade but after seeing this pic...

Any more details on the bluetooth attachment? I take it you can recieve and answer calls on that without going to the main handset?

I don't hold the phone to my ears when talking, I use earbud/speaker. Also as a real man, I carry a man purse.

Want this, will wait for review and Note 3.

got to love New Sony mobile division they have improved a lot even compared to starting of this year . they were the one to use outdated chips in every phone than in late 2012/2013 they had shitty screens and camera problem. they have nailed every thing beside camera it seems

Will these new Triluminos screens be in Xperia phones going forward? It was a shame how the Xperia Z (hell, Sony's entire line of recent Xperia phones) was marred by screens with bad view angles.

Yes, its sort of a mini-phone for those that thinks (knows) it looks silly holding up a phablet to your ear.

The Honami is sounding great so far, but I'm worried about the rumored thickness of 10-12mm. Now that we've seen the 6.5mm Z Ultra, other phones just won't be the same. :(

What is this I'm reading about Triluminos being QLED? Is it actually not an LCD screen? If so, why the hell isn't Sony capitalizing on this by introducing Triluminos as an OLED/LCD3 competitor? Calling the screen technology something like Triluminos QLED or even just QLED would be better than just Triluminos.

Sonys triluminos isn't true QLED and is still an LCD display. Just like the Bravia TV and VAIO laptops, it's an LCD display with LED backlight and there is a quantum dot colour filter that provides purer colours than was possible before. As a result we get display with a far wider colour gamut and apparently this can even help with black levels and viewing angles... or so I gather from reading random stuff online.

Why 6.4 inch?

Without naming the elephant in the room, Sony Mobile's Marketing Programme Manager Benoit Obadia acknowledged that there's indeed a stronger request for bigger displays on phones these days. But as to why his team specifically chose a 6.4-inch screen size, Jun said it was simply a matter of finding the largest panel that he could fit into the width plus a similar thickness of a passport -- something that travelers are used to carrying around all the time, especially in their coat pocket. Similarly, seasoned travelers are also likely to be carrying a pen, which can be used for scribbling on the Xperia Z Ultra. That way they won't have to carry a dedicated stylus.

"The point of this Xperia Z Ultra is how we could let the users bring this one into their travel and daily life," said Jun. "That's why we chose aluminium to realize our product's proposition."
