I want this game more in light of this video. I have no idea why. I seriously can't wait for this game.

[Wow...that's smaller than I planned.]

Fingers crossed for exciting career mode.

It is one of the fields where I prefer Forza 4 tyre-model (in Simulation mode) because drifting (lateral torsion on tyres) actually slows the car down and leads to grip-snap and inevitable spin if maintained without slowing down and correction of axle.

I know some of these words.

The driving style required to get a top time in every GT Time Trial ever since the first GTA has always been the same. It's still faster to drift the car into the corner, settle it and light up the rears on the exit without being punished for it. This is not the fastest way around the track in real life. It's a point that comes up among the top drivers every GTA.

Boot up GT5, check the replays of the top times, there's no sliding around on every corner. Some very specific corners? Sure, because it is supposed faster that way.

Real life = real tire wear. GT = Unrealistic tire wear. Time Trials = No Tire wear. That's why it isn't done. It doesn't mean it can't be faster on certain corners.

And I hope you aren't basing this off runs with SRF.

Please don't try to school me on GT5, I've put an ungodly amount of hours into the game. I race with the top drivers, all aids off/No ABS. I've sat in the top 5/10 of every GTA regionally. I know how to drive to attain a top ten time, I was simply saying it's unrealistic. You carry this driving style over to the top PC sims and you're immediately punished for it. Just like real life your tires would be fucked.

Yes, it is like that since always.

I'm not schooling you on GT5, i'm schooling you on common sense.

Fucked after 1 lap? No. You're are criticizing on aspect that not only is disabled at all in this time trial, and therefore makes no sense to criticize, but wouldn't matter at all for single laps.

And what exactly does 5/10 mean? first half of the board? That's nothing to brag home about. 5 to 10 first spots? That's enough to qualify. Which qualifier were you?

The engine sounds... Annoying high pitched noise. What a shame.

IQ also isn't that great, the jaggies are very districating to me. I didn't notice screen tearing though.

Well I wasn't planning on drinking and playing GT all night but here we go!

There is online in the demo, yes?

I hope FireWire learned how to drive a line.

Do you follow any real life racing series? Have you ever seen modern race cars being driven in that manner? No, simply because it's not the fastest way around the track. Not only is it slower over a single lap, but it takes much more out of the tires. In GT it's not just that tire wear is disabled, the way the tires magically cool down as soon as you're done lighting them up also allows for this kind of driving. It's a physics flaw/exploit. It's toned down because of the changes mad to the suspension/tire physics, but it's still there.

Gotdamn... Dat IQ, dat lighting. If the game delivers this on a constant base and is not as inconsistent as GT5 I don't even need a PS4 version. Hard to believe how they are squeezing this out of the old PS3. TLOU sure looks nice, but it has crap IQ.

Tracks detail and road textures are also really good and liking the new physics a lot. Just iron out those damn frame drops for the final build pls.

Remember what you said about going back and forth? You're doing that now, only regurgitated what you read on GTPlanet word for word.

And yes, I do follow quite alot of Motorsport, mainly GT3 series. Do you think they do couple of laps and change tires even on practice/qualifying? They don't. I'm still waiting for you to show me these top times being driven in ways that would be harmful to lap times on anything other then 20min+ runs.

And yes I've seen cars being driven like that, I've seen Sebastian Loeb absolutely destroy tires and driving way crazier then what I've shown you and absolutely destroy the competition, because they were short 10 minute races. I've seen them do the same in the race of champions competitions.

I've seen the Stig do it every week too lol

I've been using bumper but I noticed when in third person the framerate goes to shit whenever there's smoke, I guess that was the cost of removing the blocky edges, hopefully that will be improved in the final game or rain/offroad will be super stuttery.

You're on the outside looking in, so we'll just have to agree to disagree. I'm done.

hating this demo with passion, whose idea was to put slowest possible car in this? this demo is a definition of unfun

There's more cars. You're progressing through more powerful cars as you go.

That's the second time you try to play the high horse without actually saying anything. It's really not getting you anywhere.

Hi, I leave you a graphics, physics and sounds comparison between Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo 6 Demo (GT Academy 2013). Is a lap to Grand Valley circuit with the Nissan 370z.

A greeting.

Man, GT5 looks so much sharper :/

Sound difference is bigger then what I thought would have been though.

I was pissed that the first race event didn't allow for manual transmission making me think it wasn't in the demo, Thankfully it unlocks at the second event.

amar maybe you can point out all the changes you noticed on that track :p

Are they using some sort of edge AA now? On my TV some parts of the scenery look really smooth, and others don't.
And I was totally taken in thinking Autum ring was lined with 3D trees, they're just new 2D ones. :lol

That car has no gears, it's electric.

As a casual GT player I'm hyped after the demo.

It's amazing that presentation and loading can elevate the experience. Many times I wanted to play GT5 but didn't because of the horrible loading times.
Loading for the title screen, loading for the menu, loading for the other menu, loading for the loading... fuck this.

It's been months since I played GT5 but I feel 6 has more pleasant colors and better road textures among other small improvements. Birds, planes etc are a nice touch.

At first I believed 6 would be a repackaged 5 with more premium cars but this feels like a whole new game and clearly shows that 5 was undercooked. Very happy we are getting it. PS3 couldn't end without having a truly great Gran Turismo.

The cars actually handle, I loved GT5 but the cars felt stale handling wise, barely any roll etc.

I still feel that way, they roll and bounce around nicely but the Leaf and 370z feel kind of numb compared to thier F4 counterparts.

Maybe it's just going to take some time getting used to but instead of expecting GT6 to trash F4, I've come away with a little more respect for it.

Dont compare GT5 game to the GT6 demo...

GT5 got extremely patched....

I say do a GT5 Academy demo v GT6 demo

That be more realistic.

I am actually pretty disappointed with the physics. Drifting the car into corners is still the fastest way around. Weight transfer is better, as is suspension movement, but braking and turn in is still wonky to me.

Can't wait to get home and try this. Also can't wait to be reminded of how much of a terrible driver I am, even though I put many of hours into GT5

Lighting/smoke definitely looks better and the car physics are VERY improved, but it still suffers from some jaggies(almost strobe effect when letting the car roll forward slowly with some objects like pillars in the distance flickering a lot; could just be a shitty track model) with detail objects(fences, chainlink, thin materials, etc).

edit: looks like it's just silverstone (or whatever the demo track was). Autumn ring looks WAAAAY better, especially the trees and it doesn't have the flickering effect as much.

Also: holy shit @ the menus....soooooo much more responsive and better looking.

Playing the demo reaffirmed my belief that this should have been developed as a PS4 game.

Marginal improvements at best. Seems like a waste of time for PD.

I'm excited for GT6, but I think you sound a little...well, you sound like a crazy person if you're saying people "aren't allowed" to compare the graphics in a sequel to the game that came before it. I get that you're saying the demo might not be indicative of the real game, but that's a stretch. Reasonable people see the game looks really good, but don't go too far trying to convince people of under what conditions they "may" compare the visuals.
