That's uh... a pretty decisive victory. I have no frame of reference for Spain though -- is 134,000 units good?
It's a lot!

Spain has about 15% of the USA's population with a comparative 60~65% per-capita income.

So this is "equivalent" to about 6~9x the sales in the US in the same timeframe.

Spain has always been Sonyland. This is not new.

Indeed.

The Xbox one (the first one, not the xbone) was a disaster in Spain, Microsoft didn't do that bad with the 360 being so cheap. But now those 100€ more make a huge difference.

And Spain is in a huge economic crisis right now. Dat 25% unemployment rate...

It will be interesting to see numbers after new year.

Both companies will probably post official numbers in their quarterly financial statements during mid-January. [if somebody bundles nextgen+currentgen numbers like sony did with PS3+PS2 or Vita+PSP, I'm gonna flip out].

Can you post the entire e-mail?

Thanks.

Roughly translation of the bolded:

"Sony Computer Entertainment España (SCEE) has announced that PS4 has sold 134.000 units in Spain from launch to yesterday, Sunday 22nd of December. Also, the sales ratio is 4.8 times greater than its immediate competitor.

This now makes PS4 the best present this holidays and one of the most wanted products. It's expected that tomorrow night the number of PS4 sold will be bigger than 150.000 units. This huge success is making PS4 shortages in a lot of stores which will not be fixed until Jan 13th, when the new shipment will arrive to the country."

Just want to point out in the PAL thread it was posted that Vita did 7k in the past week which is incredible when one looks at the Xbone numbers.

First shipment numbers really don't tell that much though. Even Nintendo was able to ship over 3 million WiiUs during the launch quarter even though selltrough was something like 2 million. Both MS and Sony will ship as many consoles this quarter as they can produce. Next quarter is more telling,

Knowing how much they are able to produce is also important. :)

[although I doubt MS managed to sell everything]

Any anecdotal evidence on the xbone's availability? Obviously the ps brand carries a lot of weight on the continent but even still those numbers are shockingly bad of ms if they aren't due to supply constraints.

A couple of comments ITT seem to indicate supply isn't an issue - am on mobile so can't quote them easily, sorry.

I like these threads because I patiently wait for the first person to try to spin this so I can laugh at them.

You can buy Xbox One everywhere.

We'll see similar ratios across continental Europe.

Even worse in Japan.

Slightly more even in the US/UK.

With the WiiU out of the picture and the XB1 fucking up, Sony takes this console generation.

MS focusing on the US may be a safe bet once everything evens out.

Kind of like the Mustang. Pretty popular US car that no one else really gives a shit about outside of America since it is under-teched and overpriced compared to Euro/Asian competitors.

Do you have data on whether the xbox one is out of stock in Spain?

Do you have data on whether the xbox one supply that's not sold out is five times the amount that is? Because I seriously doubt that's the case, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if microsoft diverted supply to the UK and U.S over Spain.
