VAC bans now apply to the specific game the person was banned in, rather than being based off of the engine of the game.

I've played CS since 1.4 on and off casually and CS:GO feels a bit weird to me since I just started playing it. Sometimes I stay still and shoot short accurate bursts and my bullets don't hit and I die. Meanwhile my opponent is strafing and spraying and headshotting me.

Welcome to CS:GO.

Game just feels as inconsistent as Source. Don't take it too seriously and P90 everyone for fun.

Yeah, it's really funky having someone in your cross-hairs, fire and totally miss (due to the "bloom?") only for them to headshot you in two seconds flat. So annoying.

Because Counter-Strike. That's the only explanation I've ever come up with.

And it's tempting to open crates, but any weapon I want could just be bought off the market for the cost of 2 keys rather than gambling for it. Except for the Asiimov M4, which is ludicrous.

One day I'll luck out and find a knife. Good thing I haven't spent any of my own cash on them (only skin/crate money).

What are your guys' favorite skins?

My faves.
Candy Apple Nova(Wish there was a Stattrak version)
330x192

M4A4 Asimov
360fx360f

Scout Blood in the Water
360fx360f

AWP Lightning Strike
360fx360f

M4A4 X-Ray
360fx360f

Gut Knife Night
360fx360f

Karambit Crimson Web
360fx360f

Deagle Blaze
360fx360f

Dualies Hemoglobin
360fx360f

Glock Dragon Tattoo
360fx360f

P90 Cold Blooded
360fx360f

Bizon Carbon Fiber
360fx360f

M4A1-S Dark Water
360fx360f

Five-SeveN Anodized Gunmetal
330x192

Dragon Tattoo Glock. Makes it feel like a different weapon that I actually (sort of) know how to use.
Candy Apple Nova and Five-Seven. Looks delicious.
Kami Five-Seven.
Souvenir Colony FAMAS, even though I can't hit anything with that gun.
Shattered Galil.

I played a pretty good game on Mirage. Everyone used their mic, and 4 rounds in a row were close enough that we would have lost without defuse kits.

Is it weird that I'm better with the FAMAS than the M4? I prefer to buy it and a few nades and then steal an AK.

My favorite skins are the following:
FAMAS Hexane
Five-Seven Anodized Gunmetal
AWP Boom
AK-47 Blue Laminate
Scar-20 Crimson Web
Sawed Off Mosaico
M4A4 Desert Storm

Man, I have gotten so spoiled by my new gaming PC. I'm at my parent's house right now so I'm using my old laptop + I forgot my MX510 mouse so I had to use their stock Dell mouse:

gaming-keyboard-and-mice,V-D-229225-13.jpg

and some tiny mousepad they had lying around the house. Playing CS was pure agony. I kept going off the mousepad during firefights so I'd suddenly be looking at the sky or the floor. Plus it has no mouse4 or 5 buttons, which I use to switch to my pistol and knife. And of course my laptop has to run GO on the lowest settings so it looks like dogshit.

Soo I've been playing cs go a bit lately after owning it for a year and I'm loving it, guess nostalgia from 10 years ago is helping. Did 10 placement matches and I'm in gold nova I, guess I'm not as good as I thought >.>

How does skin drop system work in this game? I barely get anything, is it time based, x per week etc?

It's usually 2 skins per week and 2 crates.

Either it was a typo that went uncorrected (seller meant to list for $25.00) or it's two people attempting to easily transfer between new account. With SteamGuard you can't trade with an account until after it's been active for 15 days, so if you list it on the market for cheap and have the other account quickly buy it you can 'bypass' the system.

Eh. At some point most skins are worth absolutely nothing.

The original skins went up a little bit since they no longer drop. Of course most are still a buck or less so theres not really any profit

If you want to make money, get lucky with a crate or get lucky with a drop, AWPs are worth a ton

I made like 30 bucks from this game just selling crates so thanks Valve

If it was a typo I'm really sorry for the guy because it was probably 250.00 and not 25.00, the exchange to another account could be possible but risky.

Does anyone know how to apply/download a skin for a gun? Is it free or does it cost money?

Im new to the game and don't really understand how to do it. I managed to download a map by someone by subscribing though, but it doesn't seem to work like that with weapon skins.

Anyone around the DMG/Eagle rank down to play? I've been having a miserable time lately playing alone and I'm tired of it. Feel free to add me, Steam ID: heytred

@ Educator - to expand on Uriah's post: You are limited 'drops' weekly (they reset Wednesday 7 p.m. EST) and you generally get 2 skin drops and 2 case drops in that time frame. I've heard of people getting up to 7, but I don't know if there's any truth to that. You can open the cases, but they require a key - which costs $2.49. In my opinion it's a scam as you have a really low chance of landing anything of quality. You earn drops based off game time spent on Valve servers. These can be Deathmatch, Casual, Competitive, or Community Servers (for the most part). If you have any more questions, feel free.

Deleted my video.txt file from my cfg folder to see if it'd fix some of my performance issues now my weapons and passes are gone. :c

Time to restart and see if it fixes anything. Think it may be a connection thing since none of my friends are showing up either.

So after many horrible experiences with Russians in Dota as I progressed a bit into CS:GO they appeared again and have ruined every single of my last 5 games. Guess I'll have to stop playing this too unless I find a stack somewhere...

Oh, ok. Not to keen on microtransactions. Would have been fun to just download some community skins without having to wait for drops and pay for keys.

Thanks!

Not sure if you can get banned/VAC'd for it, but you can definitely download custom skins and apply them. I think it's a tricky process and you need to do it everytime CSGO updates.

Also, some of these may end up in community skin updates (officially put into CSGO by Valve) later on if they're also submitted to the Workshop.

Shouldn't have to do that/risk a VAC ban for the sake of getting workshop items.

Really, that's their biggest fuckup. AFAIK TF2 allows you to use whatever from the Workshop as is. But I guess GO isn't selling enough crate keys or whatever (because people are smartly selling them?) to where they have to lock half the workshop off. :/

To be honest, I'm not sure if there's a better way of doing it (I just started playing not too long ago, myself) but that's one of the ways I've seen of getting custom stuff in.

Because of my inexperience with CSGO + VAC, I wonder if it's a potential ban risk. :)

Pretty sure it isn't bannable to use the old method of skinning. Only you see those skins however. They haven't taken anything away from the community the way people used to skin they still can.

Yeah, but the question is: Why are they locking half the workshop off? TF2 doesn't do that as far as I know and it sells bucketloads of items.

I guess it's because they don't have the "hats" or whatever that TF2 does and since they don't want to turn it into a wacky game (thank god) they have to lock half the workshop.

But that's royally stupid. You can't let people do it through the workshop like this skinning method and only have the "official"/pay-for items show for everyone else?

You can't equip TF2 or Dota 2 items through the workshop either. Workshop is for people to share and vote on items so they can be included in future updates. Only CS: GO's map workshop lets you "subscribe" to items in game. Keep in mind these cosmetic items are the reason these games have been getting free updates for years(in TF2's case) and the CS:GO ones have already funded two 250k tournaments, they also make the item creator a good deal of money for their efforts.
