ChileGAF |OT| CTM weon que pulento el thread!

II'm going to be in great shape walking up and down these cerros all day. But yeah the grungy hippy culture is already obnoxious to me.

Look at the bright side. What you mention is the main reason Valparaíso's girls have great legs & ass.

I live there for four years. Beautiful ciy in my opinion, it's just so unique. I hope it grows on you.

This is true. Holy shit the girls. Actually I met a great girl today and Valpo is probably the best fucking place ever to be (newly) single.

Actually Valpo today grew on me a bit. I explored a bit more along calle alemania which is mostly flat lol

As a last resort, you have Viña del Mar to explore in case Valpo ends do nothing to you.

Anyways, good luck in your new endevour :)

It's hard to care about the Festival nowadays.

Stupidly, last year I tried to watch Emanuel, after years of not caring about the Festival.

Big mistake, the dude acted at like 3am, and he barely sings anymore.

Never again.

It's sad how the Festival ended up.

It's supposed to be the crowning jewel of our Summer, but it's so lame. If this was other country, the thing would be legit huge lol

Hey Chile GAF,

We just got back from Central America (specifically Belize and Guatemala) and we loved it. Visited a ton of Mayan ruins (Tikal, Altun Ha, Xunantunich to name a few) waterfalls, and the amazing underground cave tour, ATM (Actun Tunichil Muknal).

We are planning our holiday for next year and Chile/Peru are on the list.

What are the MUST SEE spots in Chile (and the best time of year to go)? Thanks!

Sometimes they bring good artists. I was surprised by the quality of Jesse & Joy's show or Laura Pausini's. Also Elton John and Sting fully delivered.

Shame they keep bringing some that have come a thousand times already.

Well, this year we have Rick Astley. Thats pretty much the only real good thing, as an artist and as a symbol of jumping the shark.

Edo Caroe is funny sometimes. But in this years festival the fact that Rafael Araneda interrupted him after speaking of Jovino Novoa saying that "the audience" was the one that interrupted him was funnier.

Thats all the Festival for me lol

For me the crowning jewel of our Summer is Lollapalooza Chile. Since, well, we are getting Eminem, Florence, Mumford, Zedd, Jack Ü and others.

Yeah, but Festival de Viña is born chilean and all that stuff.

Lionel Richie was pretty good. Pedro Ruminot was good, but went for too long. I hope Rick Astley is just as good.

This shit should be like this night more often. And it should start earlier so it doesn't end at a crap hour.

But enough of this topic, let's move on lol

Alegre de ver un OT de Chile, pero el titulo me molesta, que les parece "Welcome to Pelotillehue" or "Lo jaguare de suamérica" ?

Tell us first how many days are you going to stay and where.

Atacama, Patagonia, Santiago for a weekend, Valparaiso/Viña del Mar for a weekend, you like wine? - Valle Colchagua for some wine tours, cross the border into Mendoza Argentina only a 5-6 hour drive from Santiago...if only for the breathtaking drive over the Andes and more wine and steak in Mendoza...

The country is vast but these are the main tourist spots.

I hate tourist spots which is why I lived in a pueblo in fucktown Chile for so long last year. I loved it and you get to see what everyday working class Chile is about, no tour will show you that. Not for everyone though. Once you get out of the big cities, you find some of the nicest fucking people in the world.

Likely 10 or so days in Feb/Mar next year. If travel is easy around the country we are open to where we go.

We hate tourist spots/traps too so please, recommend the places you would go. :)

The pacific border is 4000 miles long, so you'll have to pick an area.

My favorite place to chill is the South.

Pucón/Villarica

Villarica has a semi-active volcano, a gigantic freshwater lake, the whole place is inside a huge rain forest, it has beautiful hotels and a fucking casino. you cant go wrong with Pucón.

you can visit the volcano if you like that stuff.

Twitter alerted me that Meruane was tanking on the Festival.

Jesus Christ this is so terrible. This poor guy has not been funny in two decades.

I hope one day someone who really knows how to do a spectacle takes the Festival and makes it what it's supposed to be. To me, it lasted two days, and it was a 6/10 lol

Man, those pictures of Villarica are so good. I want to leave the country, but there are so many great places I still haven't see.

Maldito chinches en Valpo puta la wea. It is infested with them. Every friend I have working at a hostal is infected with bed bugs. Its disgusting. I think my house has them I woke up with bites all over my back. I just can't see any visibly.

I couldn't care less about the Oscars but I watched the short some time ago. It's nice but I didn't see anything new, both the story and the visuals looked like something I already saw.

Anyway, good luck. If it wins and that helps the guy to get more funds for future projects, cool!!

Do you guys think Bear Story won because all of the blatantly forced inclusion of "another than white" races in the entire Oscars show?

No, I think that it won beacause it's a really well produce short, and a really good analogy of the dictadura and the exiles.

Good on PunkRobot. I hope this helps changing the mentality of Chile in terms of supporting the good arts, and stops promoting shitty stuff of Nicolás Lopez or Badilla Brothers.

Or maybe, stop promoting braindead football.

There's no need to pit artists against each other, we need to destine some of the funds that go to soccer into arts, that's a far better plan.

They have no issues taking money then shitting all over the country and moving away. Fuck these guys, congrats to punk robot. I hope they keep doing awesome stuff.

Is there enough of us to have a Chile GAF meetup? Or enough in the same city? Maybe we should get a poll going if there is enough interest. What city do you guys live in?

I'm in Valparaiso but always in Santiago.

I'm currently living in Buin, 20 mins from Stgo, and I'm up for a meetup in a bar or something, I'm also probably the oldest lol
