It was too good to be true.
My only concern is how linear the episodic nature will make the game. I was really hoping the remake would have a massive world map, the buggy, chocobo breeding, tiny bronco, and Highwind exploration. If it just follows the story I'll be dissapointed, to various degrees. One of my favorite parts of FF7 was the variety of side objectives and locations you see on the world map. I really wanted to crash the Highwind into Ultimate WEAPON. Find the Ancient Key using the Sub, while avoiding Emerald. Exploring Gongaga, even though you didn't need to.
I'm split, FF7 is probably my favorite game. On one hand it will be cool to see a faithful, but linear retelling of FF7. On the other hand, I'm gonna miss the grand sense of adventure I felt after Cloud steps foot on the world map for the first time. I just cant see an world map in an episodic game. Maybe if they made large zones like FF12, It would fill that void.
Again, I'm torn. I'm finally getting a remake, but I have to accept it's probably not gonna be a 1 to 1 remake that emulates the original game with uber graphics. FF7 remake is probably just gonna be an episodic retelling of FF7.
