Had a girl on my twitter post a Starbucks date with her and her BF playing MK8 on the tablet, thing has a very appealing quirk I can't explain. It's resonated with the crowd nicely

Such a shame when it eventually plummets after 5 years of record-breaking sales and close to 100 million units sold.I bet sales will taper by Summer.
Doesn't seem there is much to keep it afloat between now and Mario.
I mean there is probably great games on it but they will never be as robust as other games on the other consoles.
I imagine the Switch will.be exactly like the Wii... It'll start of strong then plummet by the end. Nintendo still have not shown that they can maintain a console on their own with adequate timely releases.
Are we going to say this every time a console is successful or just nintendo? I need to know the rules.well, how "big" are those allocations? Its not hard to sell out in hours if you only have like 5 units in stock lol
I do think, actually, that Sony might have been ahead of their time with their vision of bringing home console experiences to portables. The technology just wasn't there to do that concept justice. Vita often struggled to run games at its native 540p resolution, let alone 720p or 1080p on a big screen. I also have no problem admitting that Nintendo might have taken some cues from Sony's attempts while designing the Switch.
You can credit Sony for dreaming the dream years back, and you can credit Nintendo for understanding that now was the right time and right opportunity to realize it.

Splatoon sold almost 5M on dead Wii U, it's going to explode on Switch.Such a shame when it eventually plummets after 5 years of record-breaking sales and close to 100 million units sold.
Also, look into this little game called Splatoon 2, it's pretty popular.

Agree with you... Normally consoles keep selling million forever..... -_-I bet sales will taper by Summer.

I think once supply starts to meet demand this thing will no longer be selling out.
You think that once the number of things being made matches the number of that thing people will buy that it will stop being sold out. You THINK that? You're not sure?
EDIT: Seems I sparked something here with the Switch owners.
I mean there is probably great games on it but they will never be as robust as other games on the other consoles.
I think that's the definition of catching up to demand.Still think it remains to be seen if Switch could pull off a 5 years let alone 1.
I think once supply starts to meet demand this thing will no longer be selling out.
The numbers for the Switch are in line with XBOX One and PS4 first week sales... And one of those is hugely successfully and the other a mild success so I think Nintendo still has to prove demand is there when they start to meet it.
Lol, are you for real?
Maybe you shouldn't post something stupid like this:
If I go into a Sony/MS thread and post something like "Nintendo games are way more polished and fun than any games Sony/MS made". How do you think people will respond?
FYI, I own a shitton of Sony/PS products. So spare the "Nintendo fanboy" crap.
Possibly, but I don't see the success of Zelda/Kart as being indicative of what ARMs and Splatoon will do, because they don't have the popularity and recognition that their other (older) franchises do.Splatoon sold almost 5M on dead Wii U, it's going to explode on Switch.

Everything is still up in the air. I think it will depend on two things:
1. Nintendo maintaining momentum by releasing high quality games every month or two (and maybe getting a few prominent 3rd parties involved)
2. Whether another company comes into the hybrid market with a better design
Doesn't seem there is much to keep it afloat between now and Mario.
Who cares if they sell 80M in 4 years or 8 years? Especially now with gamers being ok with incremental upgrades every couple years. The faster you sell the better.I bet sales will taper by Summer.

Talking about where I work in Holland. Stock is out.Only at Amazon, apparently.
Yeah people are beating their chests over launch window numbers. I don't think Switch is another Wii U but let's wait until after the holiday season to crown it a smash hit. This thing very well could be GCN 2.0 or Wii 2.0. Only time will tell.I bet sales will taper by Summer.

Thing is obviously a hit. You guys are so wacky sometimes. The PS4 was also a runaway hit. It happens, y'all.
I don't get the bet hedging.

Well I was one of those, but I'm not fully convinced I was talking fanboy dribble just yet. To be honest, yes BotW caught me completely by surprise by being a sprawling epic that you can play very well in short bursts. But at the same time, BotW is pretty unique in this regard. It really revolves around exploration and meaningful reward every five minutes or so. Going straight back to Horizon after finishing Zelda it struck me how turgid Horizon was, even though beforehand I was singing praises of its pace. So maybe I do want to play all big games on the switch, but maybe Zelda is also simply an outlier.
Local wal mart got 10 in at like 10pm last and they were all gone by 8am. Who shops for consoles that late?
Fair enough. I think I didn't expand on my initial point.
I was saying that once supply meets demand it won't sell out... But it will also give us a clearer picture of there really is a demand there as sales numbers will be able to meet that of other successes.
You realize Wii U sold out initially too, right? Just quote me instead of throwing shade lolPeople shopping for the GCN 2.0, apparently.
Well deserved. I love my Switch. Can you imagine the sales when POKEMON releases?
My.
God.

You need to read this - https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017...h-into-the-switchs-successful-launch-numbers/Wii U sold well for literally like 2 weeks during the busiest shopping season of the year and was selling sub-100K by January. If you want to say its premature to predict Wii or DS/3DS success, I think that's fair- but the comparisons to Wii U are absurd.

Wii U was sitting on shelves 2 months after it launched
