Hunter x Hunter Community Thread - OSU!

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/new...launch-4-manga-series-in-next-3-issues/.75929

This year's 31st issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that the magazine will launch four new manga series in the following three issues. It is also announcing that Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter manga will go on hiatus in the 32nd issue, but it will return in the 33rd issue on July 14. "A special project" will appear in the 32nd issue.

So HxH won't be published because he is going to publish something else. A one shot?

The one where they reveal who the silent ant is.

That wrecked me.

That one didn't have as much of an impact on me as the other stuff

I loved at how much most of us hated it in the beginning.

That's a shame, the arc had me from the beginning. I thought it was great.

At least it's not a real break, as he's still working. I just hope whatever he does is worth putting Hunter x Hunter on the back burner for a week.

So we know from this chapter that Gon really is nen-less at the moment. I wonder how he's going to get it back? I want to see Kurapika deal with the fucked up Prince too. What a freak.

So iirc, the only ability that Kurapika put the troupe limitation on is chain jail right? That would mean he is able to use the judgement chain on anyone. He probably used judgement chain on anyone that said that they wouldn't give them up, and it wouldn't shock me if he used in on the prince.

Also, what's up with Gon again? So he's "normal" now, does that mean he had those nen pores or whatever closed? Can't he just have them opened like the first time.

The Prince is fucked up.

It's sort of weird to see "our world" stuff mixed with this world though. Probably the first Shonen Jump series to namedrop Hegel and Kant, though. I appreciate that as a philosophy minor.

Oh yeah that was fucking weird. After so many volumes being a fully fictional world, reading "the Spanish football league" was a WAT.

I did a double take when I saw Serie A mentioned

So for some reason they still haven't shown Gyro's 'return' in the anime yet. Are they just going to ignore it? Not that it really matters, since it's close to ending anyway.

so the editor of hunter x hunter says there will soon be an event that will end up being one of the top 3 shocking moments of the manga. want to speculate what it could be? i'm going with killua killing illumi so his family goes after him and he heads to the dark continent to get away from them. although its more likely that he is full of crap and just wants to get people interested in the upcoming chapters. the special project ended up being a recap of the released chapters. the pic i posted was from a Q&A from the special chapter.

I can't even think of anything that would be shocking or that I've been waiting for. Maybe Chrollo getting his nen back and starting to bring hell again with the spiders? I'm not really sure how that would even fit into the context of this arc.

Illumi dying, especially Killua killing him seems too out of nowhere tbh. I think I'll just go with "the editor is talking out of his ass".

I'm still hyped for next chapter, but frankly I'm hyped for every chapter we can get.

Kurapika is revealed to be a girl after all and the prince is very interested in her. *gasp*

One of the main cast is going to die. that's my guess.

One of my guesses, too.

I was thinking too in having finally the Chrollo vs Hisoka showdown but that's more "desired" than "shocking".

Killua's sister with Genei Ryodan could open up some interesting developments if the GR plot comes back, like Killua searching their help against Illumi. But that's pure fanwank :p

The only real shocking main cast member to kill off would be Gon.

He has kind of finished his story arc and been to the brink and back. I'm not sure where you would even take his character now.

The most obvious contender to do something shocking is the Prince of Kakin, IMO. Any fights or show downs don't really count to me a shocking, but having the serial killer prince do something abhorrent would be interesting.

I don't think they'll be digging up anyone that isn't in the plot currently for this twist.

Prince is secretly a Kurta with the same goal as Kurapika . he has some sort of manipulation/specialist nen to convince people he's someone else. BAM.

Mereum faked his death, thats my guess.
oh shit that would be crazy

Humans were the calamities all along.

Kurapika will use his judgement chain on the Prince and kill him, which results in killing Kurapika as well.

there!

They might as well ignore it, considering it's very likely that the manga isn't going to touch on Gyro for a while, meaning that we won't see it in animated form for a very long time. Honestly, I didn't like the manga stating Gon and Gyro were going to have a showdown anyway.

I was thinking on something like that!

I mean, it's easy to beat Kurapica. Just hire illumi to do it. He uses his powers to shape-shift to a Genei Ryodan member aspect and then attack Kurapica. Kurapica answers with a GR-exclusive chain, and dies, because Illumi isn't truly one of them. Success! :D

I think it's too late to kill Gon off now. If that's the plan, it should've happened after the Pitou fight, or as a consequence of that. That was the perfect emotional moment to do that.
Maybe if it's another side effect of the transformation, like him slowly growing weaker and dying, I could buy it, but it's too similar to Meruem's death. Regardless, even if it happens, I think it's too soon after his almost-death to kill Gon.

I doubt it's Killua related. Killua is done. Although unlikely Gon watching Ging die would be pretty shocking.

I don't think Togashi would pull this again after Kite's death.

Maybe Gon's real mother is revealed and Gon turns out to be only half human, and she's from the Dark Continent leaving a reason to include Gon in this arc, and maybe he'll find something better than Nen.

Maybe Gon will turn out to be Don Freaks who got trapped in the past and is in a never ending loop of Gon being his own Great Grandfather.

Maybe Pariston kills Ging.

I would guess Ging is a dead man walking, setting up Killua/Gon's motivation to go after the lost expedition.

I'm starting to think it was a bad choice for the editor to try to hype up, because now the next time we see an important character in danger (Gon, Killua, Kurapica, Leorio, Alluka, Hisoka, Ging) we are going to say "this is it, he is dead in the next chapter", instead of being truly surprised.

I could see Gon's mother being the thing that fans wanted

not sure I get the whole interspecies argument though :/

Like I said, I don't think Togashi would use the same plot device twice. What you're suggesting would basically be Kite all over again.

How so? The big thing with Kite was the emotional impact on Gon because he was a father figure. This wouldn't really be the same thing.

'Saving' Kite was also their motivation to go to NGL and join Netero's extermination group. Having Ging die and using that as their motivation to go to the Dark Continent and join the expedition is kinda the same thing, or at least similar enough, I think.

I don't think killua is strong enough to take Illumi just yet.

Illumi is strong, he has Hisoka's respect in that regard and post-Ant Killua still feared him in combat.

But, I don't see how Illumi or most humans can do anything against Killua's attack with Godspeed + kou.
Godspeed doesn't have all that long a timer on it if Killua's in combat.

He doesn't need a lot of time, just 0.1 secs to make one focused, lethal attack to a vital point like head or heart.

Illumi can change his body with his needles, which seems to go as far as change his mass and skeletal structure. He could change into some big Youpi-like body to tank it, like Youpi did. /theory

I think it's not their physical body what it gives people or monster their incredible toughness, but the big nen aura. Youpi had 15 times a "normal" aura or more, I don't think Illumi can replicate that!

True, but it's fun to speculate. Besides, it can't be that easy, Illumi is still probably Hisoka-level.

Base on his reaction to Hisoka's trolling about killing Killua I get the feeling Illumi may be stronger.
if illumi was truly that strong then hisoka would have fought him already. hisoka probably hasn't fought with him yet because illumi is slightly weaker than him and he can use him for other stuff. he still considers him one of his toys so he is planning on fighting him in the future.

I don't know about that, but they're definitely equals. The way they treat each other indicates as much, it's a very honest relationship. They like each other but they're also using each other and they both know it.

I'd argue that Hisoka considers everyone his toy, even those stronger than himself.
