*note: I'm not trying to bash on Infinite Warfare, I can definitely see people having fun with it, especially if they enjoy Black Ops 3.

I really want to believe that the old Infinity Ward (IW) is still around. I know Zampella and West left, but I was hoping a core team still existed at IW. After playing the beta, I feel that Activision really just merged Neversoft and the remaking ten people at IW and kept the name for brand value.
Since Infinite Warfare's (IWA) multiplayer reveal, we have known that it's copied all the mechanics of Black Ops 3 (Blops 3), plus some small new ideas.
Everything that Infinity Ward had built with MW3 and Ghosts is gone. Killstreaks, Specialists and Support streaks are now gone, along with creating your own soldier (to be fair this wasn't exactly that advanced and AW and Blops 3 let you customize). I liked that IW kept killstreaks, it kept each studio's COD's from feeling somewhat different and not a copy of the other.
It seemed like IW was trying hard to maintain Killstreaks, but AW and Blops really pushed forward with score streaks, and were probably pressured to change (my assumption, could be false). Along with that, they are copying the Pick-10 system (love it or hate it), which makes some diverse classes, but people running around with just a knife tend to get annoying after awhile.
Additionally, where I feel the biggest copy and paste of IWA is the gameplay. There are Rigs, which are pretty much Specialists with some small new features. Also, there is wall running and jet packs, which are almost identical to Black Ops 3's. The biggest offender to me about those, are that some of the maps don't feel like they're needed, with no place to wall-run or thrust. It literally feels like they checked off a box and added it in.
Activision must have saw some big market towards the futuristic setting. Back in 2013, everyone was talking about Titanfall and Destiny a lot, and Activision must have saw it as their next big thing. I'm surprised that Activision didn't have one of the studios work on a more modern or historical title just in case the futuristic setting fell back on them. Activision actually did this with Treyarch back in the day with World At War. Originally, Activision was nervous that the consumers wouldn't adapt to a modern fictional war, so they HD Treyarch make a WWII Call of Duty if Modern Warfare failed.
It's embarrassing how much was copied over from Black Ops 3 to Infinite Warfare. I hope that the excitement over the historical setting of Battlefield 1 catches Activision's attention.
Anyways, that's my rant. I played a couple rounds of the beta and it was a little fun, but nothing for me to spend hours on. I'm excited to play the campaign, but won't be touching the MP as jet packs and thrusters aren't the Call of Duty that I look for and IW is just uninspired.
