Naruto
Summoning has nothing to do with chakra level. If that was true, Kakashi would not have been able to summon 8 dogs against Zabuza. Kakashi has 4 times less chakra than none fox Naruto.
But those dogs aren't particularly powerful. They're just good for tracking. Refer to what I said before: The more powerful the summoning, the higher the chakra cost. If Kakashi could summon those dogs, it obviously wasn't very demanding on his chakra reserves. In fact, Kakashi never attempting to summon much more than those dogs kind of reiterates the point of summonings being chakra intensive if they're powerful.
Beam said:
What Jiraiya tried to teach is how to use his fox chakra. There was no indication that Naruto needed that much chakra to start summoning.
Erm, so why is it that he needed the Fox's chakra every time he summoned the giant toad? His attempt without fox chakra produce the lesser frogs/a tadpole.

This is the last time I am ever going to say this. I believe I have mentioned this before. Do not ever, ever direct link to illegal piracy shit. This includes manga releases, manga scanlations, sites and apps which provide such access, etc. STOP DOING IT. This thread is for the discussion of manga, not for the exchange and distribution of illegal material. Don't ask, don't tell. Future offenses will result in normal moderation consequences. Do not reply to this message, just move along. If you have a question, PM me.
Sorry -- didn't realize it was against the rules to link to the actual manga sites. Noted for the future :D

I don't really remember what happened in that first chapter. I just remember it was shitty. But I cannot imagine it being as graphic as a fan-made fantasy affair.

Yes Gintama is the closest if you're looking for a comedy manga with action elements (or just want to read a great manga period). I wouldn't include the other mangas you mentioned because they are all the reverse, action mangas with comedy elements.
I think they are relevant enough. Bezzlebub has plenty of action to put it close to those manga apart from Gintama.

The fights with Toujou are prime examples. While not perfect comparisons, those manga have a good amount of comedy so that a Bezzlebub fan might find another one to enjoy.

But yea...it wasn't easy to think of any besides Gintama which was an easy pick.

It's funny.

To Love-Ru Darkness

The central plot is Yami's "sister" Mea who is another prototype assassin backed by a mysterious villain. The ecchi antics are related to Momo's schemes in trying to set up a harem for Rito for a happy ending since it is allowed for the king of deviluke. I get that a lot of people will think it is a terrible for the nudity and some borderline stuff compared to what is seen in anime. However, it isn't completely aimless and it is just fiction after-all.

I'm talking about TLR darkness by the way. I've seen posts on Nozoki Ana so I didn't think it is too risque for manga-gaf but...

Not sure if you are talking about TLR or TLR:D. But there are much more graphic manga out there that aren't doujin. The fantasy stuff just doesn't bother me.

Until Death Do Us Part 124:

I guess all the fights are going to end in draws/with no one dying on either side until they fight a second time? I guess it was a good way to build up hype for the next fights but they better switch "dance partners" next time. I'm also disappointed we didn't find out who the other invisible enemy was, but hopefully it gets revealed next chapter along with how Mamoru plans to escape.

Beelzebub:

Glass Rebel was responding to my comment about Beelzebub being better when it focuses on comedy and not action. The mangas you listed focus more on action than comedy, so they wouldn't be great recommendations in this case.

I C

I didn't get to read Beezlebub so I was skipping spoilers. I read "I love how comedy is handled in this manga. "Solitary Tsundere" made me laugh out loud. Is there anything similar?" but did not want to read any possible spoilers in the quote. I never would've thought that "I agree with this." would have such context. Lesson learned I guess.

I think we got a new king in slow pace manga. Step aside Bleach.

No that would be Claymore. Gantz doesn't have a pace. It's been a human gore showcase for the last two years since this alien arc started outside of "Tae Chan rescue stories". Seriously what's the fucking objective? Kill aliens, save Tae Chan, and rescue naked people? What's going to end this conflict? Is there a alien mother ship to blow up? Is there a big boss alien to take down besides the one with the long hair chasing one of the two Kurono's? What is the goal besides chopping stuff up and or getting chopped up?

If this manga doesn't end with a "fuck the readers" type ending it will surprise the hell out of me.

Magico has really been great since the start of this arc. Amazing turnaround as I was considering dropping it just before that. It's so much better now that it isn't jumping around to random villains with no build-up or relevance. Joshua is just getting more awesome as it goes along, and the brother looks to have great potential as a recurring psycho villain, the best kind.

Once it was revealed the Gantz balls were the product of a mumbling retarded girl, it was pretty much all over.

Kazumi Magica

Looks like Jyubey might really be aiding the girls in trying to take down the contract system. Maybe not though with Kyubey nearby. Either way, this seems to be a bigger scale internal conflict than what happened in the anime. Interesting.

Gantz

With all the things going on there is really no reason to have spent this much time on a bunch of nobodys being killed. What's going on with Nishi and the kid, Cherry's rampage, Kaze and the group that was separated, the guys who gained control of the Gantz balls, the whole vampire thing (which seems to have been dropped)? But no, there has to be so much damn time spent on focusing on how fucked humanity is, or the whole Tae bullshit.

Tsubaki the Hope Seller vol 4

This time the whole book centered around a single story, with Tsubaki coming into the picture only toward the end, making a quick appearance a little after the start.
So it was (mostly) all Hosen and it wasn't bad at all.
Naturally, to keep in line with the previous volumes, the story ended up in a depressing way, even if it was a little bittersweet.
I do hope the next volume will have something about Tsubaki's past and the shady bastard shown at the end of volume 3.

Goodnight Punpun vol 5

What I'll remember the most about this volume will probably be "I want to fill up a girl with penis".
Punpun (the character) is a disappointment all around for me. He ignored Aiko when walking under the rain, he thought of her when getting sexed by Yuichi's girlfriend and he keeps getting swallowed by the flow. Punpun's mother isn't better, Yuichi is a bastard. Midori seemed a nice girl but then used Punpun to relieve her loneliness because of asshole Yuichi.
Basically, the best part of the volume were the moments with Seki and Shimizu, which made for good times.

Goodnight Punpun remains a damn depressing read and I'm noticing that Asano relies a bit too much on photoshopped photographs.

Yeah, this current arc saved it for me as well.

Bleach

Epic fucking headbutt. Hahahaha. Bleach has been really solid lately, IMO. Hunter x Hunter has been alright too.

Black Bird vol 11

So Sho
had died and got brought back to life and that's why he became so powerful.
Kaede is a grade A bitch.
I feel that Kanoko Sakurakoji's character art in Black Bird improved over time.

I would like more content first. It's still finding itself with the jumping around of the quest arcs. It needs more content with the sages and some sort of master antagonist plot. A damn good animation studio better take on the series though since the drawing detail is a highlight.

Sweet, I am now the single known TLR:DR fan in OT4 against the masses. Come at me!

It's not bad if rather cheap looking at times. They changed quite a bit though like I mentioned above. They at least got a real wrestler and a girl that actually does Karate into the cast for the show. So some of the stuff they do is actually real and looks really nice.

Akagami no Shirayukihime (ch 26) -shoujo A bit like shoujo?, romance, dat art

This chapter wrapped up the pirate route and had a surprise unveiling of Shirayuki 's father. It felt really forced though and they did one of those quick departure deals. "It's just my dad who I have never known and he is not a jerk. But let's GTFO all." Zen and Shirayuki got closer with plenty of blushing and a sleeping kiss. Mitsuhide and Kiki are the most entertaining in this manga. This manga is also not very shoujo and the art is way above shoujo norm.
__C__

Asu no Yoichi! (ch 58) -trash, garbage, take it away

Good, AnY is done. Talk about a dive of a manga. This chapter did a ridiculous wrap-up trying to reconcile the missing parents, current enemy, and finding a way for Yoichi to keep hanging at the dojo. Most of the chapter was methods of fan-service for the main females. Sayonara AnY, you won't be missed.
__F__

Beezlebub (ch 127) -shounen, action, Toma channeling

This is pretty much a chapter that shows Beezle at its finest. Sure, the fights are at the DBZ stare-down stage but the humor carries everything well. You also have multiple sub-plots going on without things feeling all over the place. While the training arcs are getting tiring, I'm OK with it if this is how it is told.
__B+__

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (ch 18) -shounen, comedy, vidja games

Another Boku where they are playing games. The last one was way funnier with Yozora and Sena team killing. However, Kodaka's otaku spells were pretty hilarious. "Believe in Tomorrow" was classic. The brutal fish murdering where the fish gave dying melodramatic speeches was also funny.
__B__

Magico (ch 29) -shounen, action, grand entrance

Mostly a continuation of last chapter and some recapping from personal perspectives. Shion's brother coming in is the big revelation. We now know Shion likely had an original non-noble purpose with the Echidna which is probably why he went to see Emma in the first place. He is also being blackmailed for a new ritual which should be interesting.
__C+__

Reimei no Arcana (ch 25) -shoujo, romance, kingdom politics

This is a tough read. Why? Well both this and AnS (top listing in this post) are about a girl with red hair who are special for it. It is just fucking weird. And AnS is way better of a manga as well. So what happened in RnA? Well, the little monster betrayed them leaking info to the king and his mom is locked in the tower like Nakaba used to. This all leads to blackmail for her release by going on a trip to a neighboring kingdom. There is also a secret Loki is holding or something. It's just not terribly interesting even when Nakaba's arcana shows Loki slaying someone.
__C-__

Until Death Do Us Part (ch 124) -seinen, action, non-racist manga for once

One fight wraps up and the others basically continue. Mamoru is playing mind games and the big boss of the gang goes in the school. At least we didn't have any iphone app attacks this chapter... We have a cliffhanger but I'm not sitting on the edge of my seat. Am I the only one getting a "The Rock" vibe? Maybe Nick Cage is going to save Mamoru...that sneaky virtual boy user.

WALL OF TEXT! I just want to drop a line here that I type about 100wpm on average so don't be hatin.

But...Asu no Yoichi has died! Oh Happy World!

Warning: Don't read Happy World despite my hilarious pun. It sucks.

EDIT:
Magico added, lost it somehow

EDIT2:
Akagami no Shirayukihime is also moving from Lala DX to Lala. Good.

I didn't even think El Palacio was popular enough to get the live action treatment, man.

Drama 24 is usually filled with slightly racy material so they do a lot of manga that has that sort of stuff but wouldn't fly in prime time. For example, Cupid no Itazura's first manga series got a drama in this slot because it dealt directly with sex.

Ai Ore! vol 1

After receiving this, looking at the cover and the first couple pages, for a moment I got some doubts in my mind, "maybe I bought a yaoi manga thinking it was a shojo". Turns out I didn't make a mistake, it isn't a yaoi manga, it's just very gender bending confusing, with women that looks masculine, men that looks like hunks and a guy that looks like a very petite girl.
As a whole the first volume was entertaining albeit stupid, with a lot of yaoi undertones (3 overbearing brothers, a couple of "friends" that are always trying to make passes or teeasing the protagonist, the nickname of "princess" he has in his school), as the poor Akira (the male lead) has to get his (male only) school to become better to save his girlfriend Mizuki from punishment (which consists in being locked in a cage in her school with only a shirt on) by the student council president of her (female only) school for having a relationship with a guy from Dankaisan (that male only school, a school with a bad reputation).
The end of the volume plays even more on those gender bending traits and I'm a little curious to see how it'll continue.

Fairy Tail 254
tumblr_lsrezqjmZX1r22a2io2_250.png

The sketch type pages looked amazing and actually brought many many tears, gone are those days :( Romeo seems cool though I wonder if he is capable. Ultimately, Hibiki appearing gives me high hopes for Lyon somehow getting involved too, which would be excellent, my two favorite non fairy tail mages.

I have to read this series this week. Mashima Hiro will be at NYC comic-con on Sat. at an FT panel. I want to check if I like the series but 254 chapters is a lot. What is the avg page length? Normal ~20 shounen?

Ch18 of Boku wa Tomodachi I reviewed on this page.

Kodaka tried to get a bad-ass class in the game they were playing but since it was a beta he was turned into an otaku who couldn't fight. The game only gave him useless advice skills related to everyday school life.

This particular one was funny.

Skill "Believe In Tomorrow"
Effects: Nothing will come out of just believing. Unless you take action, nothing will change. <3

It turned out to do...nothing. ;)

Doesn't look like any of the "new" FT will stick aside from Romeo (once the old guys come back).

Is all of this just to bring Romeo into the main party or something?

I hope the main cast doesn't come back till the end of the arc or later, so that lets the new guys grow a bit.

The new guys fight some tough boss or guild, and they're all decimated, and are all in tears and call for help and BOOM, the main cast shows up.

Calling it!

Fairy Tail

Nice chapter. I do not remember some of FT members. Alzack and Bisca are married, and i like how Mashima concentrates on these characters. I really dislike the main character of this manga, except for Gray. I really dislike Erza and her plot armor.

I am guessing that Romeo will be the "Natsu" of this arc.

I just hope the FT mages dont have too much of a character design change. Hibiki barely looks like he even got older, just longer hair. So I guess there is hope that Gray and Loki and hopefully Natsu dont change much beyond the hair…

I hope everyone we knew in FT is dead.

Goddamn, I don't recognize anyone in this damn chapter except Makao.

I suppose that's a good thing, if one of them turns out to be decently strong, but it seems that's not that case. Nevermind that TENROU ISLAND IS STILL THERE

Sent to another dimension where that other country is, I bet. :|

I still dunno about the main party growing older.

I mean, they were not heard from for 7 YEARS. I just can't think of them spending that time conscious (if it's ever possible to come back they should be able to accomplish it in less than 7 dang years).

They might have turned into lachryma like before or teleported into the future or something, I dunno. But I don't think they grew older.

Who are these useless characters? Why are they so goddamn weak that they can't even stop these thugs? Why do they still act sad and emo when they talk about Levy even though it's been 7 years?

Now I can't wait to see what kind of asspull they will come with to justify the island existing.
