ayee dont try to flex on the Wii U games though.. bet all those games rate higher than most other first party companies.. no names tho 🙈
Just saw Wii U trending on Twitter and wondered what happened. They probably have a year worth of extra stock. Hope it gets some dreamcast level discounts in 2017.
There was a pretty sizable gap (several months) between the winding down of the N64 and the first Gamecube games. I'm not sure if they officially stopped producing consoles, but there was almost nothing between early 2001 and the GC release in November. The gap between the Gamecube and Wii was similar, but in that case they had the benefit of Twilight Princess being cross platform.
This is really par for the course for Nintendo since the N64.
You quoted someone saying the Wii U has been on life support for a long time. A list of old games makes you prove his point.
Yup. Not a good look for Nintendo right now.
If you're going to discontinue the thing this early, the successor should be out there and in the public consciousness by now.
I think that the NX... at least the portable is coming out this year.
You guys are jumping the gun. This does not guarantee a 2016 release at all.
There it is.
The console did sell poorly, but to completely discontinue production after only 4 years is a sign of a total failure. X360 and PS3 are still going over a decade later.
Sadly, there are no signs that the things will pick up with NX. It is more likely that the dwindling number of enthusiasts will dwindle even more, most likely moving toward platforms that show they can support a system for a longer time.
Time for Nintendo to finally launch NX, so they can close their hardware shop forever by 2019.
THANK YOU SLAYTENDO FOR :REDACTED:

SLAYTOON shitting on your faves on flopped :REDACTED: console. When will DREAMCAST?
It's not par for the course. You could still easily find N64s in 2002 and Gamecubes in 2007. I bought my first N64 six months after I bought my GCN, in fact.
In terms of software dropping off during a Nintendo console's final year, you're right...but that's not what this thread is about.
This is a pretty ironic post. You might as well not bother. There are a couple Nintendo crazies in here that are too far gone.
On a side note, regarding a post I saw earlier, I've owned a WiiU since launch, and it's a bad console. I don't know how a person couldn't see that.

Ok so we have 2 people who have lost their mindsThere it is.
Also people seem to forget that this isn't the first time this system has ceased production.
Production of the console is stopping, not sale of the console.
There's probably enough units in retail channels to last until the end of 2018 at their current rate of sale.
It's not the worst selling console, but it's rather low.So in the annals of console history, where does the Wii U stand?
I do not have a very high opinion of Nintendo for the last decade.
You know how to become irrelevant? Announce your current dead console is officially dead this year and not be replace it until next year. That's how you kill something. NX is 2016. Nintendo isn't stupid.
Nintendo finally burying their FLOP piece of plastic called :R E D A C T E D: making way for the NX
Slaytendo gonna SLAY
The NX will bury :REDACTED: on release to the abyss and back

You're going to be able to find Wii Us in 2017. Just because they stopped producing the consoles doesn't mean you won't be able to find them. They aren't exactly flying off the shelf. You could find Dreamcasts in 2002 even though they stopped making them in early 2001.
So in the annals of console history, where does the Wii U stand?

Unfortunately the Wii U is weak in lot of areas but if you were in it for mostly Nintendo games and some indies, you were basically in heaven, even with the droughts.

Wii? or Wii U? The latter I can understand... the former... I takes all kinds I suppose. Was that a typo?
Handheld nx is coming this year. And Nintendo didn't announce this about WiiU. This is a report from a news paper that has been wrong about Nintendo in the past.

While this may be true, one of the main reasons the consoles I mentioned previously were so easy to find was due to the fact that Nintendo was still producing them. They've never ceased production of a console this quickly. They've always produced the previous hardware for a time after its successor had been released.
Edit - To be fair, it looks like GCN stopped production in late February of 2007, so it wasn't too far removed from Wii's launch.
For comparison both last gen HD systems are still in production. If this ends up true X360 might outlive WiiU and it was launched in 2005. Crazily short production cycle.

If they already have enough Wii Us made to get them through the launch of the NX, then why would they need to(I'm assuming this is the case)? It seems like it would just lead to more Wii Us sitting in a warehouse costing them money to me.
Besides, what happened to the 100 million Wii owners, back to knitting and mobile gaming? Shame Nintendo couldn't convert that base to the Wii U. Sad
The handheld, that is selling better than the home console, is being replaced first? The home console, that is dead this year, won't get a replacement until next year?
Your logic makes no sense. Nintendo NEED a home console this holiday.
That's sad but true...Most of them don't know Wii U is different from a Wii.
Nintendo is having such an awful image momentum. No word about NX, no word about Miitomo on the west, no upcoming info to look forward in general with Nintendo other than the remaining games on Wii U. They just continue their radio silence and they will probably continue like this until E3. When people will simply not care anymore unless they give a big surprise event/show/announcement/whatever before E3.
In terms of consoles I've played a fair amount of games on I'd go Wii > Wii U > PS2 > Gamecube (though I love them all). Not comparing the whole libraries of each console, just the games I personally bought.
The 3ds is selling better but it's not exactly selling that good. A new handheld is a guaranteed profit monster. A new console is not. They are worried about shareholders not fanboys.
