Ah yes. Way better than the DOF in Arkham I can imagine... but hard to imagine it looks much better than the Cryengine Bokeh (unless it runs higher than half-res).

I know You have, but why implement it into CryEngine game? Its not like CryEngine needs it, they have very customizable solution, that is very correct and quite fast. They also blend it with motion blur.

Yeah, bullshots are essentially downsampled pics. SSAA is essentially downsampeling.

Here's an example. He used photoshop though to downsample, so it's not entirely representative.

Yeah. I haven't messed with it a ton. But, downsampling Castlevania LoS from 2560 x 1440 looked awesome on my 1080p TV and monitor. Above 1440, I couldn't see a difference, though, outside of lower frame rates.

Yuo can use AA in conjunction with downsampling, but DS is essentially the best (and most costly) form of AA as everything is rendered at a higher resolution than you're playing at.
