Overwatch |OT9| There is no Cow Hero

I have won one of my last fifteen games. I've had four games where people have left and countless displays of trolling, racism and sexism.

There's something to be said about the fact that the worst part about this game is the way that the people that play it can ruin it.

Time to take a break son, before it gets worse. Check your back catalogue. I went on a silly losing streak after my placements this season and it really put me in a foul mood and that was when losing streaks meant big SR drops.

It's particularly frustrating at Point A when the spawn is right there. So you might die but hey, there's more time to try another push. Chicken Reins and now chicken Orisas are just annoying.

Anyone got VOD of that match? I wanna see

I don't like recording videos of myself in a poor mood.

Yeah it takes a few seconds to get from spawn to choke, always worth the risk. Besides, by the time some attack teams get the balls to actually push in, Symmetra would have a teleport up.

This isn't across just one day.

A fifth leaver, now.

Ah ok, sounds bad cuz you're usually in a good mood when I play with you.

I mean, I wasn't horrific, I don't think. But I was cursing pretty frequently and just sounding unhappy.

I like being encouraging. I like being positive, and I like making people feel like they've played well. That's the image I choose to present as much as I can. Obviously, I'm human and can't keep that up all the time, but I try to limit the negativity. Part of that is letting anger lie in the past and avoid revisiting it. So I probably won't make VODs of when I'm salty.

Fair enough. Who were you playing?

Lol it really wasn't that bad, stereotypical Canadian rage... almost non-existent :p You can tell he was disappointed that we lost, Pharah started diving after him too often. I would be able to take out either the Pharah or Mercy but not both around the same time, unfortunately at the cost of losing Buttchin (he was Zen). We were 2-0 on Lijiang, we even made the Pharah swap off, but then at the end they adjusted, dove our healers first and we pretty much crumbled.

"Gee whiz, what the frickin heck!" somber silence before apology

For mini-stacks (3-5), I never like locking an entire role because I feel like it sort of bullies the random into playing something they may not be good at. But in every scenario where the randoms are left to cover DPS, it doesn't end well.

You can block people on Xbox. That will make it so you're never matched up with that person again. It works wonders. I have blocked every single leaver I have ever encountered, I will block trolls too if they are deliberate about it.

I don't think this actually works anymore. People tried blocking the best widow player last year and he/she started getting no matches, so they changed it IIRC.

If I happen to be in solo Q and end up placed with a stack, I let the stack choose first because maybe they have a strategy. Usually works out better that way.

I was on Zen. I actually killed the Pharah a couple times, which was cool, but she was really good. What bugged me a lot was that our healing duo was me on Zen and Ned on Lucio, which put a lot of pressure on him to keep our Rein healthy, who needs lots of healing frequently.

Love me some Zen/Lucio combo.

Armchair quarterback says Rein on Lijang should've switched to Winston for mobility to/from health packs, lightening the load for the healers.

Same. I even do this when I group with GAF folks.

I feel pretty comfortable with a decent chunk of the roster. But there are definitely days when I feel like I'm contributing more with one role than another.

No worries, I get my full health back after I die.

Never thought I would say this but I now have to autolock Lucio to stop others from using him. The new buffs have inspired some interesting play styles that do nothing to help the team

The frustrating thing about Pharmercy is that I feel like we do everything correctly, we have the counters, we focus her. And it's still a huge pain in the ass.

I really don't know what the solution is. If the Pharmercy players are above average then its just really fucking hard to stop.

double hitscan. its really simple. you have to actually *gasp* change off genji and tracer. complicated and difficult, i know.

My friend who is a really good Soldier struggle with a Pharmercy sometimes too. Switching to a 1-shot Widow help shut that down quickly

The widow can deal with it by themselves though. Mercy can't heal if pharah gets one shotted. If you run a mccree and soldier to deal with pharah then you got nobody harassing the backlines or both of them can be shut down by dva and a rein.

Genji and Tracer are both frequently regarding as being the clean up DPS for dealing with Pharmercy. It's 76 + one of those, or McCree + one of those.

Serious question: are you into this game? Like, play/watch/read about it?

Genji+Tracer can work against pharmercy if you just ignore the pharah and dive the rest of their team hard. Make it a 6v4 and finish that fight asap.

I actually have a lot of success Vs Pharah as Tracer. Either I catch her after a teammate has softened her up and she needs a bit more damage or I catch her up close, burst her down and either instantly kill her or make her flee for an easy finisher off the point.

Either way I survive against her a lot longer as Tracer than I do Soldier. She's obviously way easier to kill on Soldier, but Tracer lets me get into advantageous positions more easily and escape bad ones quick.

apparently not or you wouldnt be making such a ridiculous statement about how hard it is to deal with phara+mercy

what do you know, your most player character is, by far, tracer. quite shocking!!!

It's been stated in the thread(s) on a different few occasions that even in GM/t500 that combo is still 100% annoying and hard to deal with. PC/PS4/XONE... doesn't matter what platform, it's not as easy as just switching to double hitscans. Going really counter heavy on a team comp will open up various weaknesses, which is critical on defense 2CP/Hybrid point A. Maybe not as much when escorting the payload or KoTH.

I'm really getting tired of the ranking system in competitive Overwatch.

Current season started and got placed at around 2800 SR (dropped from Diamond last season), fine, I played some and stopped playing due to other games and honestly I needed a break.

Come back after about a month and a half and I just played, stopped noticing SR, stopped getting tilted in games, etc, I just played for like 4 days straight after coming home from work, I play DPS, I'm a good shot with Mccree and 76, I'm not pro gamer good but I get the job done for my team, I get the kills and try my best for the team but what do you know, I dropped from 2800 to 2550 SR now, fuck this game really.

Yeah, I like being Tracer against her at times. Recall and unpredictable blinking help your survival and if you get a chance at a semi-close shot, you can dump a clip.

I really like Sombra against her, too. But success is super map dependent, and even then, part of the map dependent. Like, defending Anubis point A, Pharah can be a nightmare, but on point B, playing Sombra against her can work wonders. Especially if you baby that health pack under the bridge.

I try that.

Hanzo/Genji/McCree seems to be a popular strategy. With select spamming a healer/tank.

I could totally see Sombra being not-bad against her, with the better range than Tracer. But Tracer's not like going after her with Junkrat or Reaper, at least.

That being said, VS Pharah it's probably

Widow
Hanzo?
Soldier
McCree
And Orisa, actually.

I find roadhog is also good at pharah when she close enough. There was one comp match where I was able to always pressure her enough for our soldier or Mccree to kill.

The problem with most of these strats are while your team is focused on gen the other team has can wreck havoc. Good forbid they have a Winston and your pharah counters get tunnel vision
