Rachel Dolezal Says She Was ‘Too Black’ for Her Black Husband

It's about showing respect, she gets openly mocked because people think it's an act and she can just snap out of it at any point. I don't believe it's an act but rather a real medical condition that needs treatment. I also don't think Michael Jackson just did it for the lulz.
Now if you classify it as trans racial or as general mental illness is besides the point.
Point is she feels a certain way she had no say in, even if she comes off as annoying she should be treated with respect, like other people with a medical condition.
Now she could still fool us, shame on me, but she kept it up for way too long, that I have a hard time mocking her.

If a white person is going to walk around telling black people how to be black, and references National Geographic and 70s television as her model of blackness, as an actual black person I'm going to call shenanigans.

Sorry, she doesn't get to Columbus being black. She even threw her own parents under the bus, lied about being the victim of hate crimes, fraudulently applied for a scholarship based on her lie of being born African American, and even presented her senior art project from the perspective of a black man.

If she stayed in her lane and just wore the odd kente cloth and a wig, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Between Trump, Brexit, and the general shitstorm of the world we deserve Rachel Dolezal

Isn't gender also a social construct?

You missed the post above. Outward social norms for gender is a social construct. For example, a woman wearing pants would be socially unacceptable in some societies, but isn't something intrinsic to being a woman or man.

When talking gender, as in gender identifications matching or not matching your sex organs, it's a real physical difference in the brain structure. At least that's what current scientific studies are showing.

But if I thought I was her, that would make me trans-Rachel.

“I’d stir the water from the hose into the earth … and make thin, soupy mud, which I would then rub on my hands, arms, feet, and legs,” Dolezal states in her book.

I honestly don't know why but when i read this the first thing to hit my head was this

Part of me hopes that Vice go back to their roots and call this dumb bitch out, make fun of her clothes, review some porn videos, and send her on her merry way.

First off, Michael Jackson didn't "turn white", he bleached his skin due to vitiligo. He still considered himself black.

Second, you genuinely should not treat her as a "victim" because she certainly did not think of herself as one until it was convenient. I guess you haven't heard of the times she was dunking on interracial marriage, or the time she refused to let a Hispanic girl speak in her class about her experiences as an ethnic minority because she "didn't look Hispanic enough". Or the fact that she held many black leadership positions despite not being actually black when an actual black person could've held said positions.

She has made it a career to shit on others for not passing her personal litmus test of ethnic and racial "purity", when she herself is a fucking fraud. She wasn't just some random person walking down the street that the entire internet decided to randomly gang up on. She was a prominent activist who was aggressive about using her """race""" as a way to feel superior to others, and literally used her fake race to advance her career. This isn't a medical condition because it literally doesn't exist, there are no reported cases of this happening ever, no indication whatsoever that this is a condition rooted in observable biological phenomena. So either we begin to generate a completely new medical condition just to accommodate her quite literally unique "condition", or we accept that she's a hack who's also a little touched in the head. Which do you genuinely believe is the more plausible of the two possibilities?

So spare me the crocodile tears about a woman whose history you clearly don't know. She's not a victim and willingly leveraged her fake race to get a foot in countless doors and opportunities. She's actively setting back race relations by even bringing up monumentally stupid possibilities that white people can totally choose to appropriate another race so long as she goes to town with a hair curler.

"I don't actually identify as African American, I identify as Black."

"We all go back to Africa, we all have a Black mother eventually"

Again folks, don't entertain this woman by thinking she has some sort of "problem"/making LGBTQ comparisons. She just wants to imitate what she thinks Black culture is without any of the criticisms that come from being White.

The national geographic makes a return.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/07/15/prosecutor-drops-sex-abuse-charges-against-joshua-dolezal-brother-of-rachel-dolezal/

”The family had a subscription to National Geographic magazine," an affidavit in the case read. ”... Joshua Dolezal showed [redacted] his collection of photos of topless and naked African women."

It continued: ”Joshua Dolezal was turned on by the black body and was curious about black women sexually."

Translation: When I feel like it, I can jump between imitating Southern blacks, South Africans, Nigerians, Ethiopians, Egyptians, and north american hip hop, and ya'll can't say shit.

Race is definitely a social construct, perhaps you're thinking of ethnicity
Ethnicity is the actual social construct since it doesn't necessarily have a biological component. Its mainly composed of elements acquired after birth.

Can you always tell the difference between a German and a Scotsman just by looking at them?

Meanwhile if you are Asian or Black no matter than culture you grow up in you are still Asian or Black.
Uh yes it is. Why do you think Irish weren't originally considered white??

They always were considered white it's just they were discriminated based on ethnicity rather than race.

You can have discrimination based on other things than race.

I'm getting off this train before it reaches the end of the line.

So sex is biological, gender is... biological, but gender expression is social? Man I'm confused on what gender specifically is now.

No. No. You have it correct.

Ex. Chinese women before Europeans had no issues wear pants at all. No one considered them less female because of it. Same can't be said for European women.

These two ethnicities are both women sexwise. If you cut off their tits and gave them dicks they would still consider themselves women. They just express it differently.

Man, i fuckin swear 2016-2017 is the year where the most undeserving people are given the biggest platform to spew ridiculous nonsensical rhetoric.

What? Ethnicity is backed by genetics. The biological component is genes. You don't acquire your ethnicity after birth. Are you confusing nationality? You couldn't be more wrong.

exactly he went on record saying he was a proud black, african-american (Oprah 1993)

this woman actually believes she's black, she's deluded

This is not true in different parts of the world. For example, in many countries in Latin America, someone who has African ancestry but is "mixed" with ancestry from another ethnic group may not be considered Black. Whereas in the United States, the "one drop rule" is often applied and the person is considered Black.

They always were considered white it's just they were discriminated based on ethnicity rather than race.

You can have discrimination based on other things than race.

In the United States the Irish were among various groups of people now considered White who were not originally considered White. Many of these groups fought for the label "White" due to the Immigration laws in the 17-1800s not allowing for naturalization unless you were a free White person.

There's a TV show here in the UK called NEwsnight. They did an interview with Dolezal and then asked for comment from a French woman (of African ancestry) who was an expert in gender studies and race, I think.

Though the woman hadn't seen the interview until it was aired, there was still a good discussion with the show's host on Dolezal and various ways of interpreting what she did.

People might like to look it up, especially since it seems like the kind of interview that wouldn't necessarily happen on mainstream TV in the US.
