The game is quite sharp. I got the runtime error too like was pictured earlier but hit close and took me right to the game. I mean it's slick as hell, visually. Pretty fun.

This game is insanely good looking on PC. The image quality with just the in-game settings is exceptional.

Yeah, it does look pretty awesome. My only complaint is the ugly and cheap looking HUD.

Also: if anyone one is still looking to buy this on PC for cheap, GamersGate is doing a buy two, get two free deal. If you can organize a group of 4, it's $7.50 a piece, the same price as the now defunct four pack deal on Steam.

I get the dumb Microsoft Visual error too, but thankfully I hit close and the game boots up. So happy Renegade is finally out. Game looks stunning in motion, and everything blowing up at 60FPS is a thing of beauty. Using Gordon at the moment and I'll stick with him, as the Antlions are beasts. Especially when using research points to upgrade them.

The only disappointing aspect I've seen is there doesn't seem to be an incentive to use another driver. Looking at the upgrade paths, only the special upgrade path is different? The ammo and health upgrade paths look exactly the same, with unlocks in a different. No big deal though, I'll just stick with Gordon! Looking forward to playing this some more, good times!

This game is badass. But the Anltions for Gordon look like robots... not good. The airstrike is the best weapon nonetheless.

So when the patch came down today, I said "I wonder how Sega and/or Avalanche can fuck this up today."

APPARENTLY the answer is by having it lock every few seconds, then resume, then lock again.

Heart-stopping music stutter and everything.

This was such a shitty buy. Going to record some footage of this and post it online so maybe Sega and Avalanche will feel a little ashamed.

... and then after a while, it just crashes, like 5 minutes into a mission.

Funny how it didn't do that BEFORE THE FUCKING PATCH when I played 2 missions straight yesterday.

...
and now duckroll is stuck in an infinite loading screen for mission 3, while the REST of us are still looking at the lobby screen for mission 2 (including you know, the lobby leader).

This game is fucking buggy. I joined a friend lobby earlier, and we were trying to play Mission 2, but on my end I saw it as Mission 8! And this was after the infinite loading shit that Turvy mentioned. Lol.

It's pretty much all you can do. This fall is like one big buyer's remorse for me.

Although I haven't had any issues yet with this game. Although I've only played it for like 30 minutes. But that's a pretty massive eyeopener if it's at all common.

*fingers crossed* Don't make me regret another purchase here.

It's still fun in multiplayer. It's just... buggy. Sometimes people drop. Sometimes their mic suddenly stops working. Sometimes the static backgrounds disappear...

But still, fun.

Finished the game and I thought it was awesome, tried to play multi and got stuck on the loading screen, that was not awesome.

Time limits have never been fun in the history of anything ever. Why do developers keep putting them in their games?

Okay, seriously, either Sega or Avalanche needs to own up to this mess of a release. Yesterday, it was unplayable on my desktop. After using the dxig.dll fix that some dude on the Steam forums put together, it worked perfectly. Today after the 150meg patch, I don't need that dll to start up the game anymore, but now on my desktop the game freezes for a few seconds at random intervals before resuming at super speed for 2-3 seconds. None of these problems at all yesterday, but now it's REALLY unplayable. What the FUCK?

The game works perfectly fine on my laptop before and after the patch, but I'll definitely rather play on a bigger monitor in 1080p. What a joke of a release. Delayed over a month with no communication with fans, promises of "optimization" and this is what we get? What a fucking worthless publisher.

It... worked better for me before today's patch.
They really... did something unspeakable to the family pet on this release. ;_;

shhh Graham I'm still compiling this Radiant map
I haven't had too many issues, but my friend was randomly getting stuck in everything. At one point he even got stuck in a tree that was supposed to collapse, just glued to him instead. Really bizarre.

This is how my game has been performing since the patch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkWxzK8Upno

Yesterday, with the fix from the Steam forums, it launched and played fine. Today, it is a goddamn mess that wouldn't even fly on XBL Indies.

I don't care who's at fault, Sega or Avalanche. They should both be ashamed for this piece of shit. And they're both seemingly too goddamn incompetent to fix it.

This happened to me last night as well. I couldn't get out, there's no suicide mechanic at all, so I had to quit the game. Doing so caused the game to crash for both my co-op partners.

It's a shame so many are having issues. It's weird how some could have so many problems but others are fine. The only issue I had, which the patch today fixed, was the visual c installer error. Granted I've only played for almost an hour, and haven't touched the multiplayer.

I posted a fix for that problem some pages back. I guess the patch didn't address it.

Yeah I have the exact same experience on my desktop. What a sack of shit. Seriously.

Yeah, they really need to add a self-respawn button.
Friend got stuck in a tree and duckroll and I were playing bumpercars with him to get him unstuck. It worked eventually, but we really shouldn't have to do things like this.

Game has been mostly good. I got stuck under a bridge with the "Respawn in 5... 4..." then a mortar killed me. :[

Explosion when you run into power lines is fantastic. Driving is a bit squirrelly even for me (Gordon).

Just finished level 2 and 'oh boy an escort mission with a slow vehicle', 'wait...'

Sorry to hear you guys are having problems with the patch. When it patched for me today, it fixed the C++ error and the game runs fine. Really liking it so far though I wish building destruction (or enemy barracks at the very least!) counted for something.

I completed the game yesterday in singleplayer mode. Game runs perfectly and looks so hot. Framerate is around 60-150fps. I just love the smoke effects when you are drifting or boosting. Only issue I had was that some audio clips cut off before the dudes have said everything.

Also tried some multiplayer with Firewire yesterday too. We played the first 4 levels and it was really smooth there too. Only had one crash in the level 4 loading screen.

Yeah I'm convinced that Avalanche meant to say ' Controller REQUIRED ' instead of recommended. Christ the controls on KB/M is terribad!

Atleast it runs like a dream.

... okay.
So... we've been trying to get a 4 man game going for... going on 40 minutes now. People can't see each other (basically see another person as 'joining'), can't hear one of the four, etc... (documentation for when duckroll posts his)
*sigh*
So on the last mission, duckroll got stuck, I... died for no reason and could only follow one of the other 2 remaining players. Watched him drive around on lava for a bit until he got blown up by ... a rocket out of nowhere. Got a "game over" screen, then just a black screen... so I kill the process. 3 minutes later the other remaining guy, who was "dead" for me, asks if he was the only one in that epic boss fight at the end.

... Buggy game is very buggy.

Was in this game. I got to the final elevator on stage 9 before anyone else and it kicked off. Nobody else was able to join in, they all got a black screen and gameover, apparently. :(

The best part was that because I got stuck, none of you could progress to the final part of the stage.... until I quit! Lol!!!!!

Ugh, that sucks for you guys having technical problems. Sounds ridiculous. Everything about this game other than the actual act of playing it is a complete and utter mess.

Fortunately I haven't been hitting any tech problems.

Don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I find the game about a million times more enjoyable in single player compared to co-op. It's not balanced for co-op at all. Accidently go the long way around to the checkpoint? Sucks for you, your friends are going to kill everything and you'll have nothing to do. This basically happens for the entire mission. You drive from checkpoint to checkpoint, and if you're 10 seconds behind everything is already done.

This was even worse in a game I just played with some AusGAF guys. I think it was mission 4 or 5. Halfway through a couple of them got helicopters so me and the other dude basically just drove around for the rest of the mission.

I agree that in all natural sense the game is much more fun in single player because it feels like an actual well designed action shooter. But even though co-op is totally unbalanced and filled with various issues ranging from match-making garbage to getting stuck in walls, etc, I still find it pretty damn fun to be playing with 3 friends and competing for points while watching everything blow up everywhere. :)

The game is fun but fuck am I bad at it. I will just claim it's the fact that I can't aim with an analog stick. A shame the keyboard controls are terrible.

The patch fixed that issue too but mine started after I hit close even without the patch so it was no issue.

The biggest problem in coop is that duckroll keeps running me off the road and into shit. =p

Maybe you should stop trying to race me to objectives. We both know Fireye will get there first anyway, so what's the point?!
