just for $249.99

Not only is SanDisk's 400GB monster the biggest yet, it beats out the previous record holder — Samsung's 256GB card from last year — by a considerable margin. On the more technical side of things, the 400GB card can transfer files at up to 100MB/s, is classified as a SDXC UHS-I card, and is rated as an App Performance Class A1 device (i.e., it'll run apps well).

As is always the case with these ultra-high storage products, there is a catch — a hefty $249.99 price tag. SanDisk hasn't said when exactly to expect the 400GB card in stores.

it's perfect for switch, the 256GB card is being sold in amazon when it has discount for $105,it's now $130.

edit:it's now up on amazon

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Damn... they reacted fast to that Nindie Summer Showcase.

i don't even want to think about losing 400GB of data because of a Sandisk memory card dying on me

also why is this in gaming? you can use microsd on a lot more devices than just the switch

While reasonable no way i personally would ever pay 100+ for extra space per console or whatever device. Because imo they should come with decent amount of space right of the bat or well atleast in their revisions.

Personally i will get a 256gb one down the road for Switch i am phyisical only mostly anyway:p

This is fantastic for Switch. I imagine it'll be getting some 50GB games as the years go on.

Dragon Quest Heroes was like 30GB, and game size will only inflate from here.

We're inching ever closer to the cyberpunk future where I replace the nail on my left pinky with 1TB of computer storage.

I am still waiting for lower cost on the smaller micro sd cards, it feels this suckers have been at the same price for ages now

$250 isn't even a catch. That's a good $/gb ratio.

The real catch is that it will be $350-400 in Canada.

Mostly hoping for price of lower capacity cards to be brought down I guess.

I actually don't even want such large amounts of storage on such tiny mediums. I feel like it's just too sensitive and I can lose a lot of data rather easily, even if the data is backed up elsewhere.

"Cool, my entire music, movie, and game library is on this microscopic flake!"
*gust of wind blows, data disappears*

:(

And to think that 10 years ago I was pretty happy with my 160GB HDD. Not to mention my first PC that I got in high school that had a giant 10GB drive. I thought I'd never run out of space on that monster.

I think I'm getting old enough that even mundane advancements feel like mind-blowing future tech to me.

Think of all the porn you can load up in your P̶S̶P̶ ̶V̶i̶t̶a̶ Switch.

Because devices don't just allow unlimited memory. They tend to support up to a certain amount. But judging from the post above yours, this will be fine.
This is the best answer. Nintendo has stated it'll support up 2TB, which is the limit of the SDXC spec.

$250 for that much space is solid, but I'd be worried about the failure rates on these.

More than anything I'm excited for this to drive down the price of 128 and 256GB models a bit.

Probably because most people would just use an actual HDD if they needed that much pace for non-gaming purposes

All y'all talking about the Switch and here I am thinking that'd go perfect in my GPD Win.
Hopefully its reliable otherwise I'd always be worried about the slight possibility of loosing a ton of data.

Wow yeah that's not a terrible price. Should come down rather quickly too, and I always see sales or deals for micro SD cards.

I'm having trouble making a dent in my 200GB card that's in my Switch though. As long as they keep the file sizes low enough you don't need much more.

It's crazy that micro SD cards are approaching half a terabyte already, when you compare the physical sizes to typical hard drives and even solid state drives.

Yeah same here. My 10 yesr old laptop had 60GB storage and I thought that was all I'll ever need. Since Itunes came out, it blew up my storage bigtime. Now were into TB and who know when Pentabyte storages become the norm. I know they exist but not for mass production.

Mostly excited for music library mobile syncing potential via Plex with a card this large. I don't do Spotify - getting a 256GB on sale on Prime Day finally let my phone properly replace my iPod Classic

i'd be interested to find where i can insert a HDD into a smart phone (yes not everyone lives in america and has unlimited data to listen to low quality and poor artist paying support streaming services) or in a digital camera
