Also, I sent an app to join the Org, forgot to do that ages ago.
Accepted, and initial entry made into the org spreadsheet. You'll have to fill out the rest.

Bunch of ass men in here. I approve, actually.
ugh, dat radar, so good
so legible
I'm sure it will be something we can change out on ships in the future.2D radar FTW. Pity it's the less common option relegated to cheaper and older ships.
Got an invite for the PTU and was eager to try it, but I got a blue screen a couple of minutes into the installation. Is this common?
No. Blue screens are never normal; they're a symptom of something being wrong with your computer. Could be unstable drivers, faulty hardware, or overzealous overclocking, but they shouldn't happen while playing SC, let alone installing it.
Hmmm, my PC is overclocked, but I've played six hours of Mass Effect Andromeda and an hour or so of Assetto Corsa with the current OC settings, I don't think an installer should cause a BSOD if I can play games without error? I googled the particular error, something to do with a crash in "wdf01000.sys", on Win 10 64bit, but didn't really find a solution.
You're probably not going to find anything for that particular error if it's OC related. OC instability can cause just about anything to become a "cause" of a BSOD.
The thing with overclocking is that the errors aren't necessarily easily reproducible, and "stable" is a relative term. You can have a mem-tested system stable for 48 hours of stress testing (OCCT/Linpack/P95 - not running a game for a few hours), but will randomly lock up or crash after weeks of uptime doing something incredibly minor. It's the price paid for pushing hardware.
TrackIR support? So this will be next update for normal backers? TrackIR is kind of my baseline for trying to put any significant time into this game.
The Aegis Javelin Destroyer comes with one single bay hangar, ideal for transporting a Vanguard on long treks across the verse.
It's in the 2.6.2 PTU now - should go live within a few weeks. (timing always varies depending on how many bugs come up)

New sneak peek:

TrackIR back makes it look so much better. The problem still remains, and it's even more frustrating, that the core flight is so bad. It looks so immersive and amazing until you look up and see a ship "flying" doing pirouettes like it has no mass.
Just spend more than one patch a year working on the flight model, pls. It's the only thing holding the experience back for me.
For me it's the janky ship animations.
Like entering a ship or walking around in it.
The quick jerk and those 1 or 2 frames of complete disorientation between hard animatoin transitions are the biggest visual problem in the game atm. They always look terrible as teh screen seems to freeze and spin quickly to engage the animation. Although, it always seems like the first 1 or 2 frames of the animation being played are messed up anyway.
I hope they come up with a solution to that, as it is incredibly disorienting and visually very unpleasing.
Thanks, but TN can go die in a fire. Upgrading to a budget-ish 27" 1440p 75hz IPS as we speak. Temporary monitor and the last stop before HDR ultrawide, hopefully next year.
Which korean monitor is that?I did that January of last year. Went with a 27" 1440p 120hz VA panel from Korea. Works great and only cost me $220 shipped. I have a 4k LG OLED HDR as well but with a PC connected it will only do 60hz.
Best thing about the Buccaneer is the godlike sound it makes. So sexy.
Which korean monitor is that?
Ah yes, the legendary Qnix. I was actually looking at a used 2710 earlier, can be had for about 200. Tempting, but I'm leaning towards a new Iiyama XUB2792QSU for 150 more. Warranty, better panel, a proper stand, no input lag, better looking (no glossy plastics). Can't be overclocked, but I'm okay with 70hz for now.I have a Qnix, model = QX2710LED. With HDMI or Displayport I can hit 84 - 96hz overclocks with DVI I can get 120hz overclocks. Most of the time I use Displayport at 84 as it tends to stick when I upgrade display drivers.

the buccaneer looks so good. i gave it a go in Arena Commander and its a pretty capable ship. is anyone else happy with it?
Holy cow, that geometry.
SC ships do have a lot of geo (especially at the highest LOD), but a lot of the detail is from POM. They touched on that aspect in the latest ATV.
All the white / light grey areas are POM details giving the illusion of actual geo.
Oh, I'm more than well aware of that. Was simply amazed of the lighting and geometry in that screenshot. Really brings the ship to shine.
If nothing else, SC is great for space ship porn. =) While there's plenty of things that could be nitpicked about the practical design of many of the ships, the attention to detail is undeniable.
And speaking of ships, mercenar1e's shot of the Cutlass there will probably be one of the last of that version for the thread. Looking forward to the new Cutlass tomorrow. (Assuming they actually push it out and not just "reveal" it.)
I blame Zalu if all we get is Cutlass JPGs tomorrow.
I guess I'll be safe then. In the very least they'll be MPEGs, not JPEGs. =P
Don't back away now! I pulled the trigger on a CCU to a Cutlass Blue I had because you said the Black loaner would be flyable tomorrow.
