I got a skirt with eyeballs on it. Looks pretty sweet!

ugh searching these ocean worlds for artifacts..
Update on GAF server; we now have a fully stocked cafe with kitchen, a hospital, and an arcade shortly. There's also a bathroom for filthy galactic hook-ups.
Yes, I built it.
Supplies in containers (food in the cafe's kitchen, medical supplies in the hospital's office), have at em, but don't swipe *everything*, leave some for those who follow.
All the furniture and stuff should stay where they are. Some of them were donated by GAFers, some of them are from my stash, some of them were generated with admin access... but they're all there for a reason.
TLDR: Don't steal the nekkid paintings =p

So how does MP work in this? In that- is it like Minecraft where you start brand new for that specific server or does your character share all of their stuff between offline and online play?
The stuff in your charcter stays. You start the first time on a starter planet and have to get 20 core fragments so you can open the outpost and then be able to travel.
So wait I'm still a bit confused. When you say- start the first time are you talking for that character or MP? If I join an MP server for the first time, will I spawn in my ship over a starter planet and then need to use 20 core fragments to reunlock the outpost even if I had already done that in Single-Player?
Escort missions are the fucking worst, and it's even worse when it's piled onto iffy random generation. I was escorting TWO Floran NPCs back from the lab, everything was going fine, until they got suck in some pit with 3 monsters and I couldn't kill them in time. That's just garbage.
enemies seem like bullet sponges in this game too. Maybe they are designed for coop play? I wonder if their health scales.
But yea, escort missions are dumb. Im failing them left and right because of dumb ai.
I did complete the one where you free the hostage from the glitch castle tho. Everytime I got close to the hostage, they had archers lined up sniping me while they pulled the hostage back into another room. They would force him up ladders and stay out of my line of sight too. The enemy ai is kinda...tricky.
Ok, here's the truth: I had grabbed everything because I thought "no way a player made something this beatiful and complex by himself. clearly this was done by the devs"
However, I saw part of the building was unfinished and I thought: "crap! Retro is just that good at building".
So I put it all back.
I have to say I feel really self-conscious about building anything in this world. My rectangular buildings that have very little variation will look like shit compared to yours. Maybe I will build underground to hide it.
Random NPC quests can be interesting (can't talk to the guy since the path is blocked)
I started a new game since I wasn't satisfied with how I did some stuff.
My new starting planet was decent I found the begininer mine immediately to the right of my spawn point and I found 21 Core Shards to power the gate. The only problem is the planet has absolutely no food.
These hunting spears are fucking useless. I had a stack of 60 of them from looting crates in the mines. I am down to like 15 spears left and NOT EVEN once did a monster drop a piece of meat.
I have fragments I need and can get to the Outpost, but it's all damn useless if I can't even find food and starve to death during to Erchius Mining Mission.
I'm enjoying the game but these scan quest are annoying me. I like the concept of researching other races but it just turned into click on everything that is clickable.
I learned the hard way that some escorts can take damage, was escorting one npc who was immune, saved another one who didn't take damage in a battle, after the battle she starts following me, decided that it's safe to explore a little further since npc don't take damage. I Jump this little pit with spikes and she doesn't make the jump and dies right there .... *gives dirty look.

Jump and use the morph ball to get in.
In case you didnt notice, you cant actually deconstruct anything... unless you go to the top of one of the towers and turn off the generator, which protects the entire settlement from people trying to deconstruct the settlement... and flooding the whole place because "ooooh... i dont have that sign yet... wait... didnt mean to take that wall... crap...".
...

My friend did this. Yeah. Let's go with that.
Well I "finished" the game last night. Does this game have anything equivalent to Terraria's second loop? Was kinda hoping there was a big endgame.
Ha yeah. I built a little bit, but I was really impressed with how much direction they give you and I was curious to see what the main questline is like.
I'm quite bad at building and ultimately I liked exploring worlds a lot more than I expected. Like others here are talking about I got tired of the escort missions and just stopped doing them.
The final tier of weapons you can make are quite good, I ended up using the purple two handed staff you can make to take out the last of the bosses, the blade attack does crazy damage.
Also I'm playing on hard, or whatever the non-perma-death and non-casual mode is, without mods.

Ah gotcha, definitely survival then. Also lied, I am using one mod: It makes it so when you open the inventory or loot a container the UI doesn't block your character. I'm actually pretty surprised I needed a mod to do this, the fact I had to move the UI around so often before I got the mod was frustrating.
Here it is, hope you find it as useful as I have!

On a side note about weapons... I found the tentacle gun... it's... disturbing. Great gun though.
I had the same policy but accepted that I need some UI mods. I use the container tweak, one to extend the UI windows so you can see more items before scrolling and one that does the math on weapon DPS so I don't have to use my phone calc. I am glad they added mods because the UI in this game is not great for me even after giving it several hours to get adjusted to it.Welp, there goes my "no mod" policy.
Here it is, hope you find it as useful as I have!

Is it just me or farming is a bit underwhelming?
1 - having to remember to water crops.
2 - I plant 3 seeds of carrots. after they grow I can only use the same 3 seeds. I liked in minecraft where you always would get a few more seeds so your farm would grow little by little.
3 - Trying to have a nice farm separating by type of crop is so time consuming having to terraform the whole planet. Though that can be fun at times.

Sprinklers are your friend, makes farming a lot easier. Fantastic range too; one sprinkler can cover a total of 30+2 tiles (15 per side, 2 at the center for the sprinkler itself).
... There are sprinklers?
... There are sprinklers?
Nice. I'm gonna have to build a farm now. One thing I will say is that at some point I just started buying the canned food at the shop on the Outpost. It fills up so much hunger and is relatively cheap. I can drop 2k pixels and be set for a few hours.
Sure is, 5 durasteel and 5 gold per.
Just started building this and you could infinitely expand it both horizontally and vertically as need be. It's built in the Agricultural Station - an upgrade from Foraging Table.

Is it worth it to activate other big ancient gates I find after starting to travel around? Is there any benefit?
Thanks for the sprintler mention. Didnt know there was one.
SO I guess this game really feels like it punishes you for building anyting till end game.
At least that is how I feel.
Eh, I wouldnt use the word punish, playing and building with what you have only to find better stuff later on is just a big learning and progression experience, and Im okay with that. I do think however that I will focus on completing the story missions and just generally exploring before I truly dig deep into any major building projects. I want to see the variety in planets and what all the galaxy has to offer before I choose a world to call home. Currently I just have some long tunnels dug into the dirt filled with containers on my starting planet where I am pack rating stuff and growing crops. And Ive been so busy just exploring planet surfaces that Ive not really even dug very deep underground yet, Ive not seen lava at all since last year!
Yes, that is true. Also, this game needs a way for us to name containers and let us see its name just by hovering the mouse over it.
Is there a mod for that?
If you need a slight challenge, dig deep into the planets and look for the "warp" doors. Those are pretty nice challenge rooms. I've found about 3 so far.
