They'll probably just go to another school and have a chance of locale? I mean, it's not like the entire season used the school for any real purpose. Can you even name a single other student character who would matter?

The school didn't really matter outside of that one episode about the duel, but it's the sort of thing I'd expect from a sequel anyway.

Sakura Quest 25 (END)
Binged the last 12 or so episodes and man I really liked it. It didn't hit the same highs as Shirobako but I really loved this series and how it all came together. Realistic outcomes, great character development and lovely artwork. I loved the cast and grew attached to them and Manoyama. I definitely got a little emotional during Yoshino's farewell.
My only really complaint is that I didnt like the second OP.
It's a shame this series wasn't that popular but I'm happy that PA Works decided to make something so niche. Looking forward to their next big series!

It's more about how it provided context for BoJack's mom's actions throughout the season and generally the person she,is.

While I would disagree with Woof's middle of the road cpnclusion, I will say that
didn't quite hit its mark for me. Generally I didn't care for the whole MPB running for governor subplot in general. MPB can be fun to watch but he works beat as a foil to BoJack and that whole thing...was just kinda out there and didn't really seem to grasp that.
The end of the episode did so it for me though, mostly because it affirmed that HollyHock isn't doomed to a life of misery and turmoil, no matter howmuch BoJack is in her. Which, as that honeydew conversation showed, is a lot,

I'm two episodes into Neo Yokio and yall werent kidding. the writing is hilarious in the so bad it's good fashion. They're trying so hard to write high society stuff.

huh, that was surprisingly fun. Bad visuals were oversold although they can be a little problematc. It reminds me of recent Berserk or The Refrelction where there's an obvious vision present that the execution can't quite live up to in the process. Effects amusing as they looked like they were worked on by other people entirely hence the compositing woes and I'm not sure if their frame rate being so much higher was an aesthetic choice or not. The project itself screams of people having new toys to learn and work with but hey, I'm always willing to give something a go to see if it improves as it goes along or to give me a starting reference point for future projects.

I want to believe Jaden wasn't in on the joke and actually thinks this is art and that his character is impeccably written.. but I don't know. I think at some point I gotta give him the benefit of the doubt.

Only if you aren't big into transgender issues, because oh boy does episode 4 have some really questionable gender politics.
Rest of the show is entertaining. I think people who're saying it's entertaining in an ironic or so-bad-it's-good fashion probably aren't giving the staff enough credit, because I'm pretty sure they knew exactly what they were making.
Well that's certainly a different take from pretty much everyone else I know who has seen the film.

Your Name is similar to 5 Centimeters Per Second as both have long distance relationships as a major theme and the baggage that comes with them. The difference is that Your Name is a more connected story, with some hokey magic and plot conveniences wrapped around it (or inconveniences in some cases.) There's a scene where one of the main character's grandparents tells a folk belief which comes up later in the story, but when that moment comes up, it occurs suddenly and lets the audience know the phenomenon has happened through name dropping. It's something minor, but unfortunately other examples would fall into spoiler territory.
Visually, it looks absolutely fantastic. It's something that live action would never be able to replicate without looking fake. That's par for the course though for Shinkai. Script wise, it really is a big step for him. I understand why audiences like this film as a lot of the themes strike home. My minor gripe is that there are too many montages to show the passage of time. I get it needs them to make the film more compact, but there are about three montages interspersed in the film while some forgettable insert song plays in the background. That's a bit too much for my liking, especially when there are so many cuts in those montages. The characters don't have time to breathe as a result.
My major, MAYOR gripe is that it uses amnesia as a plot device. Now anime, as you all know it by now, uses amnesia rather frequently as a storytelling technique. It's a trope that personally bothers me as it usually comes off as lazy storytelling. Its usage in Your Name isn't quite that bad, but it does prolong the story needlessly and relies on things like phones destroying themselves. One example isn't quite the result of amnesia, but it does seem rather similar to it! At one point, one of the main characters goes to look and find a small town he went in the past, except the only thing he knows is the town's appearance. You mean to tell me you've been living there for at least several days, you know what everything looks like but you can't even remember its name?
Lastly, the ending can make or break a film and I feel the ending here is too abrupt. There's no real payoff to the long distance relationship; there are some in the middle and in the third act, but it's not something that culminates into a bang-up ending. It just ends. So it's a lot like 5 Centimeters Per Second in that regard!

So, urr, apparently Kadokawa have decided to remove Kemono Friends director Tatsuki from the anime project going forward, making many a person ponder if anyone at Kadokawa knows what the heck they are doing with the thing.
