TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

Today I saw another type of hacker.

10 straight wins and still Dan 1, on pc.

Not a hack. He could be using multiple characters to play ranked with.

Wins 4 matches with his GM level Lucky Chloe, wins 3 with his Gigas, and then 3 more with Miguel. Now he's like oh I want to mess with my other character, and as long as he got 1 character to 1st dan then ALL his characters are automatically promoted to 1st Dan.

Originally when Hwoarang was introduced in Tekken 3, nobody could pronounce his name right.
(Lotta people still can't, lol)
So we just called him Korean Bob. Or K-Bob.

Westerner logic ftw

or ftl

Oh man, feel so old seeing this having to be explained. lol Hwoarang will always be the real Bob to me. xD

Y'know, this game has some really fucked up AI. And I'm not talking about cheap bosses. Once you get to a certain point in treasure battle, the ghosts start ducking jabs and throws on reaction and hitting you out of any stance or move that's slower than 13 frames.

Like, how about program them to do actual combos and punish properly instead of this bullshit that just dumbs the game down to spamming your best mid.

Ugh, just gimme all the items already.

So I've got a trophy glitch on PS4. I did the "Please Don't Tell My Father" trophy whilst in practice mode and the pop-up appeared but there's no screenshot saved and it's not showing up in my trophy list even when I sync it. I've got trophies since that one and they show up.

The one thing I dislike about this game gameplay is that when you start a round, your so close to an opponent. So pretty much you can push a normal button and it likely going to hit them.

Kinda wish they spread the character out before the round start.

Fire up Tekken 3. The pronunciation there starts with a W sound. In Tekken 7, it's an H.

Namco can't even get it right.

Anyway, I made it up to rank fighter with my Ling. Nobody fell for her tricks and ow I'm back down a rank.

Even the Warrior-class Lucky Chloes were destroying me.

Exactly
you dont need to know all the frames for all characters, but its recommend you look up some of the 'good' moves for your character.

Here is a good list of all characters best moves:
https://drunkardshade.com/2017/05/27/tekken-7-top-15-moves-for-all-characters/

I've won 130+ matches with Ling, and I can't remember ever hitting that df 2~1. I hate that it's in her list of best moves.

I would replace it with FF+1. You can follow it with 2 for a safe mid or hold d to cancel into AOP.

It's her 15f mid standing launcher, of course it's important. Also useful in some oki situations I believe.

90% of these online players are so boring to play against. Their entire game plan is 2-3 strings, abusable low launcher, and random supers. And of course they run away if they get a win.

It feels significantly harder to beat these type of players compared to T6/TTT2.

Lee is GARBAGE in this game.

Holding back at the start of the match avoids everything.

Wouldn't it be easier to just do 100 wins or so with 20 characters?

Gonna give you a bit of a protip real quick. A lot of the moves you would want to use at round start will lose to certain movement options. Round start RPS comes down a lot more to whether or not somebody really wants to call out a backdash or sidestep more than what moves are coming out.

I hope they bring back Tekken Force for this game as a DLC. They should try to evolve that feature. Tekken Force in Tekken 4 was as high point I think. Tekken 6 was a step in the wrong direction.

is there a rough equivalent for Tekken where I can go see combos for my Fighters? You know how Injustice has testyourmight.com where I can simply click on a fighter and see their combo strings and not get spammed by 100 ads?

[edit] Ah reading OP I see some helpful links. Not quite the same as TYM but a start at least

You'll have to search the character on Tekken reddit or Youtube videos for now. Tekkenzaibatsu is suppose to be the place to go but most of those character combo threads are empty, outdated, or scattered across pages (I have no idea why these forums never updates the first post). Most of the wiki pages are still empty too...Iol.

Just comparing the Tekken wiki to Guilty Gear is sad.

This whole oh to make fights hard we are going to give Akuma, Kazuya etc... Infinite meter/rage, armor on everything, insta death finishers is beyond ridiculous. One thing I've always hated about Tekken was the introduction of projectiles.

Got to agree about Lee. Really feel like they've nerfed Lee too much. Was one of my favourite characters to use in Tekken 5: DR on PS3 and here he's really poor in comparison.

Okay yeah everyone needs to do the port forwarding. I did it and my last 5 matches have synced no problem with like a 30 sec wait in between.

My wife is Korean, and she gets mad when I call hwaorang, bob.

She also says Baek's name is ridiculous. It's like naming somebody Rocky Mountain.

I recommend anyone who can play the game offline to try it.

Far more crisp and generally responsive experience.

Its like playing outdoors activities in awful weather(online) vs ideal weather(offline)

Why is he called Korean bob?

It is like others have said: his name wasn't seen as Western-tongue friendly. But Bob is actually "BoB" - Best of the Best. It was an Eric Roberts vehicle, back when he had a career (it was a TKD movie). There was also an SNES TKD game that adopted the moniker after the movie.

Can someone explain why Eddy works so much different than every character in the game? You need to learn so much more knowledge about his mix-ups to counter him and if I stagger block his low launchers I should be able to hit him with a WS launcher or punish. Instead I block it, try to WS+2 as Kazuya or WS+2,1 as Josie and it whiffs. Then Eddy does some bullshit gimmick moves all over again crushing relatively newcomers like me.

It just feels stupid that the stance characters like Xiaoyu and Eddy has such a different way of playing against them. Hopkicks don't work, Orbital heels don't work mid moves don't work when they're crouching in a stance and it doesn't feel like I'm playing Tekken anymore. And fuck those Xiaoyus and Eddys that customize aura+showerhead+butterfly wing as if they know it will distract newcomers and wanna exploit it.

/End rant
