I dont know if the gunner is just op or adding in basically free avatar weapons and throwing upgrade materials at you is what broke it but last night I rolled the level 30~ SM dungeon solo to do all the quests for it super easily on mine. I went in at 27, was 31 by the time I handed in all the quests after, and just from the mobs post hitting 30 I got 6 of the 14 drops for the next avatar wep. I mean geez.

But yeah its a lot of fun, I just kinda wish I was playing this exact class in FF14 instead sometimes lmao

Also, I know this is a sore issue, but dear god, Elins. Why. Whyyyy. By themselves they would simply be adorable, and by golly, there is nothing wrong with kids with animal ears, but a combination of F2P customer base, general internet idiocy and the rather minimalistic approach to female clothing in this game makes me quite uncomfortable around players with those characters. The global and local chat ain't helping one bit to dispel this air of creepiness. Yikes.

They completely gutted it! They took out like 2/3 of the quests from it. lol.

I'm surprised by the amount of people playing. Must be a combination of both the new class and Steam. I say Steam because I still see a lot of non-gunner classes.

Edit: I was typing this while on the Pegasus flight to Velika. Man, the town is bustling! Just like in the old days.

I just ran through the witch academy. Holy smokes, the respawn rate is insane sometimes. You kill the entire room because they all aggro as soon as you enter, grab the drops, turn around and can already hear the replacement warp in. Ridiculous.

And then there's the guys on mounts that just casually drag half the dungeon's worth of mobs with them. One got stuck. And then eaten. Right next to me. Let's just say I love Arcane Barrage. Such pretty explosions. <3

Still, gives me 'nam flashbacks a strong feeling of nostalgia... The dreaded "train to zone" lives on. In a rather recent MMO no less. This simultaneously amuses and saddens me. Haha.

I just got another accursed Avatar weapon relic drop. I haven't even enchanted the current one all the way yet. Aaaaaaaah. This may be my undoing.

The UI slowsdown the game because it is CPU heavy. So a channel with less people will give higher FPS. Also, give the TERA.exe process a "Above Normal" priority.

Basically, unless you can get a beast of a CPU, there isn't much you can do. It will use like 2 to 3 cores though, so a very fast dual core will be better than a quad.

If you want, force AA 2x for TERA.exe too in the control panel for your video card. That will make the video card try to work more on it and help to make it more stable. YMMV on that one though.

I got an item that allows me to make a 3rd character, can you make more than 3 per account?

Can you change any of your looks once in game? Like hair color? I. E. How permanent are the choices you make during character creation?

Some people on the net say racial skills matter, some say they don't. What is your guys stance? For instance I started a high elf slayer, even tho castanic seems to be the "right" choice, I just like high elf looks better.

Can you change your class, or are you stuck with what you pick in the start? (ok if you do, just curious)

What server you guys play on, and are any of you just starting or near the beginning of the game?

I really am loving the aesthetic of the game and the combat is really fun so far. Messed around with slayer, Lancer, and gunner so far. Will certainly be making a slayer and a gunner. Maybe a sorcerer as well, tho I still need to try them out.

Not sure how I feel about the gunner armor visuals tbh. Its like they took the criticism about bikini armor to the extreme opposite end and gave the new class full body suits. Its really weird to be using the same gear my castanic berserker wears on my castanic gunner and have one showing 90% skin and the other showing 10%

That's the usual way of doing this.

Huge projects like WoW have separate starter areas for each race, but that's just not economical if you don't have a devoted fanbase and millions of dollars coming in per month.

That said, I just rolled a Castanic Mystic and yep, sure wish there was a button that allowed me to skip past the initial pain in the ass busywork.

Yes and no. Quests are still there. But they streamlined a lot of it for those who wants to speedlevel up to max. But, the main (red) quests and the optional (yellow) quests are still there for those who enjoy levelling slowly.

A new class is the flavor-of-the-month and attracts pretty much everyone. Most players are bad, and bad in Tera is way worse than bad in World of Warcraft.

I wondered about the vast area with the demon shrine and all that other vastly oversized areas. Thought they just didn't have the budget to fill it with content, or that they wanted to keep some spare room in case a new race or class mechanic needed a bit of extra love, but if that was actually once filled with content I'm kinda sad that it's now gone.

Actually scratch that, it flat out sucks. Scrapped content is never good.

Like I said, just give me a fast forward button once one character on the account has hit, let's say level 20. Lands you in the first city without money or equipment, but at level ten with all tutorial and story quests up to that point marked as finished so that completionists don't get nervous breakdowns when looking at their quest log. That's not a failing of this game in particular, just something that has bothered me with many MMO games: the initial explanation of mechanics and such is a terrible waste of time for a seasoned player, especially since (most of the time) all races and classes follow the exact same tutorial quest sequence. Which takes a bit of fun out of making a new toon, to be honest.
