This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Ok, question for Wii U users.

Just bought the console (yay, i'm loving the gamepad) and i have two stupid noob questions:

1. Letting the console to stay plugged in - good or bad? I've got issues with my Wii because of that connect shit (something went wrong and i've got some green artifacts on my screen when playing). Is it safe now?
2. Charging the gamepad in the craddle when not in use. Is it good for the battery?

1. It's designed that way. I haven't heard anyone have problems with that.

2. It's designed that way. I haven't heard anyone have problems with that.

Thank you. I'm asking because the Wii was also designed for connect24 (or what was it name again), but it ended damaging my unit (and not only mine), so i'm cautios as hell about stuff like that)

Well of course it's completely possible that Wii U might get damaged by that (electronics break) but for what it's worth like I said I haven't heard anyone have problem like that with Wii U.

Question for PS4 owners:

Does anyone have any experience redownloading last gen - current gen upgrades?

I had to delete my PS4 version of Black Flag ( which used the PS3 disc to verify) to make space but fancy playing again.

Tried downloading again through the library, both on PS4 and the store but both kick me out before I can press the button?

Any advice, I'm concerned this and FF14 are one time only downloads...

Is there any way to turn a sub-account into a master account on PSN yet? I can't seem to find any concrete information regarding this.

So, I am doing the mission in Dragon Dogma DA where you escort the mayor or elder or whatever he is of your village to the dark fort. Am I under-leveled at 19 or is the quest just stupidly hard? If I stay on the main road I end up fighting 8-10 bandits at a time I one of them will kill the old dude. I can handle the Saurians off the path, but then I meet up with a friggin Chimera and the guy dies. ><

Is there a site I can quickly and easily reference to see in what capacity certain games can or can't be played completely offline?

I'm thinking about an Xbox One right now, and trying to get a big picture of what's in the library that I care about. Ideally, I'd like to see what (physical) games are out there that can be played totally offline, without ever connecting (other than to set up the Xbox once, of course). After the back and forth messages last year, and all the talk about certain games not being possible without the cloud, I'm kind of unsure about any of it. Though if there's nothing out there that summarizes, I'm fine with just doing research on a game by game basis.

Is there like a wish list feature on the Vita for PS store? Like how it is on the 3DS so I can make a list of things that catch my eye? I don't see an option for it, only a purchase button :(

Afraid not, even the web store doesn't have such a feature, you'd have to manually bookmark interesting items. You can toss items in your cart, but I have no idea how long that lasts and you can't make a purchase of other items without emptying the cart.

I've had this problem the last little bit myself trying to redownload FFXIV, no idea why. I got it to work by mashing X. The download button is the first one to pop up so its highlighted for a half second before it closes. Only took a couple tries to get the double tap timing down and my download started. Should work for you too I hope. Can confirm it worked for me and am happily playing XIV again.

Adding stuff to your cart would kinda consider as a wish list, items that you leave in your cart usually stay there until you decide to delete them.

Ahh that sucks, oh well, I guess I can write the titles down somewhere :(

What is a reasonable level for finishing Dragon's Dogma the first time through? Pre-game and Post-game. Also, what's the best overall build, class-leveling-wise? Finally, why is it sometimes I'm prompted to rate a pawn/gift an item and sometimes I'm not?

Why is it both Aeris, and Aerith.....Did the guy who did the US translation have a lisp?

Pretty sure the translation was done in a hurry and not all of them were even fluent in English, which is why lines like "This guy are sick" made it into the final game.

Yeah lots of SNES and PSX era stuff was done by people:
A) Who did not have much time or budget
B) Who know english as a second language
C) Who did not have access to an original writer and could only work on the literal text
D) All of the above

There's quite a few embarrassing translations

What the hell does durability do for your decks in Tony Hawk 2? Can you bail more before the deck appears damaged? Does a damaged deck lead to lower stats? What's the point of it?

Pretty sure deck durability combines with your rail balance, lip balance, and manual stats to dictate how long you can hold those types of tricks.

Well excluding PC LAN compatible games(because we could list endless numbers), MK DD supported up to 16 players in LAN with 4 consoles, 4 controllers each.

Apparently Saturn Bomberman supported up to 10 players on one console. And I think a thread about that kind of thing would be interested indeed. Though, there might be an old thread about it around somewhere.

Do any of the android controllers work with Square Enix android ports/games? Also, is there a way to rename the Prince and Princess in DQ II for Android, like you could in the NES/GBC versions?

Didn't that smile wars maze game for GB support something crazy like 24 players or something? Of course you needed a crazy amount of link cables.

Found it, Faceball 2000 allowed for up to 16 players at once *with additional hardware*.

Can someone explain to me why emulating games is allowed (at least on this forum) and torrenting games isnt?
To me they both are the same: playing a game you havent paid for

I think people say emulation is legal if you own the original cartridge or disc, and I believe that's what people accept others mean when they talk about emulation here.

I would guess it's because emulating doesn't necessarily imply you stole the game. You can rip the games from discs you own.

As other posters above have said, laws imply that you can back up a copy of your game for personal use if you own a copy of the piece of media. They have paid for the game. You are referring to consumers who do not own the game and emulate it. This arguments gets murkier when abandonware is discussed.

I emulate games all of the time, but I won't emulate games I do not own. Often times, it's done for convenience and to keep the discs from over use. For example, I emulate Saga Frontier on my Android phone because I own the original disc and SE is never, ever going to release it on PSN here. Therefore, the only way I will ever be able to play SF portably is via emulation. On the other hand, I bought the Android port of Final Fantasy VI because it was available on that platform, even though I already own it on SNES, PSX, and GBA.

Understood, but where I live (so it may be different elsewhere) downloading is legal as well if you own the thing you download.

How is the Metal Gear collection for the Vita? Do they hold up? Well made?

Deciding between that or Corpse Party. I kind of want to get into both series eventually and want to know which one I should first.

i just got battlefield 4 for xbox one and i went to play it online and it's like "you need an origin account" and i'm like OK that's fine, I have an origin account! but it doesn't give me the option to sign into an existing account, only to make a new account. does anyone know how i can use my origin account on my xbox to play battlefield 4?

Don't know if this is the right place, but does the Xbox One not support streaming MP4 movies from a Windows 8.1. PC? Thanks.

Soo a bit of a dumb question here, let me explain: since I still didn't feel like shelling out 70€ for a second Dualshock 4 yet my Vita is still my second PS4 controller and I still have no idea where my Vita's charger went... This really wasn't much of a problem till today when two of my friends had a long Samurai Warriors 4 session and the Vita's battery slowly went low. In a attempt to find a solution I found this mod which allows the Vita to fully charge via USB while it's turned on: http://www.snapturtle.com/wp/2012/02/22/ps-vita-usb-charging-solved/

The mod was so simple and we had a spare USB extender lying around so I tried it and it worked like a charm. We plugged the Vita into the PS4 and the actual charging animation came up in the Vita's battery icon! Now my question, is this mod safe to use over a prolonged time? As far as I can see it just disables the data connection and forces the USB port into high-power mode which the Vita supports anyway but I thought I would ask still just to be safe :p

Thanks for any info in advance! :)

I have a USB cable that connects to a Dualshock 3, and I've plugged it into my PS3 to charge, to no avail. All of my Dualshocks are dead, any idea why the wire isn't charging it? I can't even get the thing to turn on
